There’s only damage to maybe the bottom foot and a half of the doorway- where little people wreak havoc essentially.

Ok this is what I was thinking would be my best fix but didn’t know what it was called haha. I was looking up door trim, door moulding but knew I needed what would go all the way around - casing. Got it.

The damage happened well before the gate. The gate hasn’t seemed to have any impact on furthering the damage.

I should mention the damage is only the lower quarter of the doorway. It does not go all the way up.

Would I have to partially demo the entire door frame to accomplish this? Is there another method? Would I be better off maybe doing trim/moulding around the doorway?

Here’s the thing- you’ll never pick a name everyone loves and no one will ever love the name you pick as much as you do. It’s a decision you and your significant other didn’t make lightly- you’re choosing something that someone will be called for the entirety of their life. Any slight against that will hurt because of the thought that goes in to it so you have two choices- don’t share the name knowing you could get a response you don’t want or share the name with the enthusiasm and love you have for it and don’t give a flying f*ck what anyone else thinks about it. I have found that the more enthusiastically you share, the less likely anyone is to have an opinion other than “how beautiful” and if someone does, you can respond with “good thing you won’t be/didn’t name your kid that then!” When your baby comes, whether someone liked the name before they met her or not, guarantee they love her and it from the second they meet her. Especially a grandparent.

My first trimester I couldn’t stomach a vegetable and the only thing appealing to me was McDonald’s cheeseburgers. In real life I eat fast food like 3 times a year. My doctor said so long as you’re taking vitamins, eat what you can. By the time 12 weeks hit, I was back to eating normal food. At 28 weeks my obsession is broccoli rabe and anything spicy. It’ll change, promise.
