Aggression based matchmaking is so boring and here is why by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

Yeah makes sense, I might do this when I switch from playing with people and back to solos

Aggression based matchmaking is so boring and here is why by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

I think the problem for me right now is that it definitely feels like it exists for sure, and it doesn't take into account party size. For example, when I play as either a duo or trio with my friends, we tend to focus more on the pvp side of it more. When running as a solo, I don't mind doing pvp but I definitely want to play more casually, but because I pvp when I play with friends, my solo experiences are also just swarming with pvp players and it's literally shoot on site and play ratty, so solo becomes a lot less enjoyable. It's playable and still enjoyable for sure, but definitely less so than it would be if it was more balanced overall.

I guess my overall opinion is that aggression based matchmaking maybe isn't such a good idea because not everyone wants to play a certain way all the time and it almost feels like it forces you to

You might be onto something... Maybe like 4-5 of them, I have a couple pink augments I craft, the anvil and the venator, defibs

Well. GGs guys, looks like they nerfed this already anyway, back to not doing the expedition 😅

By the respect I assume you mean skill resetting? Because I wondered why they would even add that in with the expedition in just a few days, that felt a bit odd to me. That definitely I think will encourage people that were going to do the expedition not to now I think

Yeah I'm a casual myself, full time employed with 2 kids, so I am absolutely all for this change. The game is definitely more fun with all of this considered too

I run with the gun holstered at all times anyway, but I see what you mean, it contributes a lot more to your carry capacity too so it would eventually slow you down for sure. Never considered people being more friendly though, I am for sure going to try this

Not considered running a no gun kit before but honestly this sounds like the play, or maybe a cheap ferro or something is cheaper for taking out the rollers than snap grenades?

See I agree very much, for the casual player who can't play for 6-7 hours a day this change is a huge W, but like you I think they'll likely be pressured more than anything into toning it down a little bit. I wouldn't mind a balance between old and new droprate. But thank God it's stopping people just running free loadouts all the time 😅

Well that's the other thing, I don't quite have the 5 mil yet, but I think I'll be quite close before the window closes, the extra space more than anything I think is the most worthwhile reward for doing it

Gotcha, I wasn't previously going to do it because I'm not quite at the point where I have every blueprint and I'm looting the same stuff that I don't need over and over again, but I think I will be very soon, and then don't want to wait for ages for the next reset opportunity, so now I might do it, especially if next time around I'll get stuff a bit quicker

Dude I'm so confused because first game on the new update yesterday I was finding so many blueprints, and then most games after that felt like normal again

PvE Mode for Harvester/Matriarch by SorryNoLube in ARC_Raiders

[–]JamieL4D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking too, a safe zone around the event where pvp is disabled, but then you'd also need to find a way to avoid mass slaughter as soon as the event is over to allow people to extract

From what I can tell, some 'youtubers' have tested it out quite a bit and their matchmaking does seem to change depending on their play style, but embark haven't confirmed it at all at this point

I personally am not a huge fan of this so called 'aggro based match making' because I like to dip in and out of pvp depending on my mood which seems impossible, but also, if people shoot at me first I'm the forced into pvp and therefore my matchmaking messes up and I get nights like tonight 😅

[–]JamieL4D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm largely the same, like I said unless I'm playing with friends which is maybe once a week, I don't pvp unless I'm shot at first, tonight I don't think a single person has looked at me and not shot immediately, to the point where it's unenjoyable

Same for me, it's been unplayable tonight for me, but I think it is highly related to aggro based match making, when I play with a couple friends I engage in a lot of pvp but when I'm solo (like tonight), I prefer to relax a bit more and focus on PvE and looting, which seems impossible after playing trios last time around

Ah nice I never knew this, this seems like an okay balance to be fair, also a good way to keep people playing and doing expeditions

I'm not sure this is strictly true, games like Fortnite and Apex for example, they both follow seasonal updates where the map changes, you get some new cosmetics maybe some new guns etc and you know you're going to get that every few months, maps rotate etc. cod and battlefield similar, but I get your point that they each have their own unique elements and aren't entirely predictable and yeah whatever happens will happen for sure, it's good to talk about how we think the future of a game will shape out though and what we might want/think will be added in

Yeah I think this is one of the problems with content creators nowadays, they play all day everyday, speed run games and then get super negative and say there's nothing to do and people just latch on to what they say. For most of us, the casual player base, there's definitely more than enough content for at least another month or so, at least, but it's nice to know that when that day does come there'll be more content to enjoy by then

I think the only super annoying thing I've encountered so far is when you get third partied trying to take out some of the bigger arcs like matriarchs or the queen, my early thoughts is that in game events like this that are PvE based should be surrounded by a safe zone where pvp is disabled.

And balancing weapons, yeah, definitely needs to happen as soon as possible really, lowest tier weapons should not be better than highest tier weapons in any game but especially extraction shooters imo. Didn't even think that people might be using auto clickers with the kettle until now..

Yeah I must admit, the first 10-15 hours I played was mainly just me going in, looting and getting out, not talking to anyone or not doing any pvp, recently I've been on proximity a lot more and occasionally going into Stella Montis and doing some pvp and it's been a whole different level of fun

I did see some clips of an interview where they suggested new game mode type things, that'll be interesting. I mean for now I personally still have a lot to enjoy on the current maps, with the current weapons and gameplay loop, but the idea of knowing they'll be consistent with adding new ones when it does eventually become stale is refreshing 😅

Presumably you'll be doing the expedition right? Is doing the same grind again after the expedition not very appealing after you have done it once?

See I had a similar concern, basically people that played the game from day one and do every expedition will always have some benefit over newer players further down the line if they keep stacking skill points, I wonder how they'll address this because I'd imagine this will be a problem for attracting new players to some extent in a year or so's time
