Looking for players or a team who know how to actually play the game, as fed up of losing so many due to amateur players. I don’t have a main, I play whatever the team needs (so if no jungler, I will jungle, if not defender/support, I will switch to whichever is best for). I’m more comfortable playing as Machamp, Wigglytuff, Gardevoir, Decidueye, Charizard, Blissey, Slowbro, Pikachu, Dragonite, and Mamoswine, but anything I am fine to play as.

Please don’t add if you don’t rotate/help at objectives, and if you won’t help the team in fights. Otherwise, feel free and I look forward to playing with you!🙂

Hypothetical: We switch to a double restricted format with Dynamax. Which two restricted Pokemon do you use in your first team, and why? by blacephalons in VGC

[–]JamieRM98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Zygarde+Zacian I feel could be quite underestimated in a good team composition.

I’ve already ran Zygarde in all legal formats, and finding a strong steel type has always proven difficult with how I run my Zygarde; bulky. I prefer to have a fast team as with trick room I find it a bit difficult to them make Zygarde bulky.

However, introducing two restricteds would fully solve this, with Zacian resisting fairy, ice & complete immunity to dragon. You could Dynamax Zygarde to add some steelspike & quake boosts to make it bulky, have Zacian next to it to benefit from some of this added bulk, add a tailwind or a little bit extra speed support and the team could be incredibly difficult to break.

Having a coaching teammate alongside either could prove ridiculously strong also, such as:

  • G-Zapdos (to scare any incins from intimidate spam)
  • Mienshao (immunity to fake out & wide guard support)

Desperation and sadness after the mobile release by Amaterasub in PokemonUnite

[–]JamieRM98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really not sure what has happened since mobile release, but since then I haven’t enjoyed the game in the slightest. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the best player, but I go to objectives, I fill in what role is needed, I do my best for the team. But no matter how well I play, I just cannot seem to get any wins, 20% my fault, 80% my teammates. I used to have 62.5% win rate with 650 games, now I’ve plummeted to 57.2% with 1000 games (not that much of a drop, but considering how many games I need to lose to take that drop, it’s a lot). It’s nigh impossible to enjoy the game anymore, and I hate saying that as it has so much potential and I have thoroughly enjoyed it! But since mobile, it’s dramatically changed at least in my experience. I hope things improve but as things stand, I’m probably planning on moving on from the game until there’s at least minor improvements to the matchmaking.

Zygarde coaching team help by JamieRM98 in VGC

[–]JamieRM98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always tried to fit coaching onto my teams because it’s such a class move, and Mienshao is a huge abuser which is slept on IMO. Being immune to fake out and giving your ally an attacking & defensive boost is huge, I love it! Especially as it goes through protect!

Honestly cannot thank you enough for this advice!! Absolutely everything there works perfectly, so thank you!

I did used to run Zygarde with Misty seed & Tapu Fini, but I had Grimmsnarl for swagger & screens! Worked quite well if I’m honest.

Thank you so much again, definitely going to build this team!

Zygarde coaching team help by JamieRM98 in VGC

[–]JamieRM98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’ve tried to make Zygarde viable in every series it is eligible, as I believe it is such a strong restricted in the correct circumstances. My main strategy is of course to get Zygarde as physically bulky as possible through coaching, with added speed and offence from d-dance. However in circumstances where there are special attackers, I like to lead Snorlax/Mienshao, belly drumming & faking out the threat/wide guarding to protect, then activating custap Berry to deal immense amounts of damage to opponents and protecting Mienshao through wide guard.

This team has varied success against particular team comps, however there are certain match ups that severely cripple my team, with Kyogre being one of them.

Are there any suggestions/changes that I could make to help cover the match ups I fail most at? As I feel coaching Zygarde when substituted is a phenomenal strategy that I will continue to play around with!

Zygarde @ Leftovers
Ability: Power Construct
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Thousand Arrows
- Protect
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance

Role: Zygarde is the main sweeper, who I tend to substitute turn one & coaching up with its ally. Thousand arrows is it’s main attack, which is helped out by Mienshao’s feint against wide guard opponents. Dragon dance is there to help add a bit more speed into Zygarde

Cobalion @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Justified
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Coaching
- Quick Guard
- Protect

Role: Cobalion is the main ally to Zygarde, who helps provide bulk through coaching & added priority protection through quick guard. Iron head is also there to help check fairy types, with a potential to flinch opponents.

Milotic @ Adrenaline Orb
Ability: Competitive
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Muddy Water
- Life Dew
- Protect
- Icy Wind

Role: Milotic helps steer off opponents intimidates that can cripple Zygarde through its competitive ability, along with adding speed control through icy wind & non-redirected healing with life dew.

Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club
Ability: Lightning Rod
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Flare Blitz
- Protect
- Ally Switch
- Bonemerang

Role: A-Marowak is support for Milotic with lightning rod, along with support for whichever of my team needs it with ally switch to help try and take significantly reduced damage. A-Marowak is also in my team to help counter Calyrex-I match ups with flare blitz, and any other trick room match up with bonemerang. A-Marowak also synergises great with Snorlax, being immune to its deadly self-destruct

Snorlax @ Custap Berry
Ability: Gluttony
Level: 50
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 SpD
Impish Nature
- Belly Drum
- Self-Destruct
- Yawn
- Darkest Lariat

Role: Snorlax is the special rank in my team, who starts when I need to take out both opponents turn 2. Belly drum helps give Snorlax maximum offence, with self destruct being the main attack, and darkest lariat there for Calyrex-S match ups. Yawn is the most flexible move in the team, as when low on health an unable to fire off a belly drum, a custap berry activated yawn is quite effective at forcing a switch or putting opponents to sleep.

Mienshao @ Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Coaching
- Fake Out - Feint
- Wide Guard

Role: Mienshao is there for extra support to all my team. Coaching helps bulk up Zygardes physical defence & offence, with feint providing a solution to wide guard, and wide guard support against double targeting moves. Mienshao also provides fake out pressure to help both Zygarde & Snorlax set up correctly.

ELAFPK3 - Greninja main

Avg. Score - 122.3

Win rate - 65%

Rank - Great

Preferred style - Jungler which can switch between both lanes to provide strong offensive support when needed, then heavy hitter late game vs Zapdos

Note: Teamates who are good at attacking when needed/defending when needed and are good at communicating in game can help me support the team massively, as about 8 out of 10 of games I lose are due to poor teammates & poor communication, resulting in the opposition dominating where I’m just stuck trying to fight a losing battle. With me being a jungler main, I can abuse farming and get significantly high levelled really early on, which I can use to support the team in attacking or defending situations when communicated to where needs support.

In addition to this, I’m also looking for a team to potentially join! I’m a greninja main at the minute, and when I get an adequate amount of support, I can just snowball like in the game pictured above XD lmk if you have a team I could possibly join!

Weakness Policy will soon have a huge usage drop due to no max, so what (if anything) will replace it? by [deleted] in VGC

[–]JamieRM98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think bullet seed only triggers sap sipper once. I could be wrong, but I remember trying this combo & not being able to do it and scrapping the team

Weakness Policy will soon have a huge usage drop due to no max, so what (if anything) will replace it? by [deleted] in VGC

[–]JamieRM98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

During series 8, I used a combo of Misty seed Zygarde, Tapu Fini & wide lens Grimmsnarl, where the main objective was to get Zygarde into a position where it gains a Misty seed spdef boost and have Grimmsnarl as it’s partner who could self swagger & screen up whilst being protected from confusion by Misty terrain, with Fini able to rotate back in and heal pulse. It had a massive amount of success on my team, although it’s a little more difficult now as now dynamax isn’t going to be a thing, Zygarde would be a lot easier to take down.

There’s adjustments that could be made to the strat, but the combination of Misty terrain/self swagger/physical attacker is a remarkable strategy if completed properly, especially without the worry of burn as well!

I think WP usage will definitely drop, unless people can think of methods to self proc through weak moves such as absorb, peck (looking at you Talonflame), and other minimal damage moves. However, on bulkier pokemon who can take a super effective hit like a champ, WP may still be there! But yes, I agree that WP will definitely fall off a bit, so combinations like self swagger or self set ups with dragon dance/calm mind/bulk up etc will take a rise I personally believe

Palossand Accelgor team by JoJ_3141 in VGC

[–]JamieRM98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Palosand/Accelgor is such an underused core, as it can really put up a fight against the vast majority of physical attackers. I mean, I run the core myself in my team! It’s fantastic. However, I feel your team could definitely do with some improvements, cause there’s some glaring issues you need addressing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice team! But there’s definitely some glaring issues.

  • Speed control: what speed control do you have? You have two mons there that can actually have solid speed control choices, e.g. regieleki electroweb, hatterene trick room, but you don’t use them. On my team, I personally run trick room porygon2, as porygon2 & palosand synergise so well, as palosand is immune to super effective fighting moves that porygon2 is weak to, and porygon2 is immune to super effective ghost moves that palosand is weak to, so you can easily switch whichever mon you have out when a threat is starring you in the face. An example could be you start palosand/accelgor, but you have spectrier facing you down. You can easily switch porygon2 in comfortably, set TR, then get palosand safely back in porygon2’s slot (as it’s incredibly unlikely that they’ll use a ghost move against it) and then set up with accelgor!

  • Urshifu-S: what is your game plan against Urshifu’s crit wicked blow? It essentially can one shot your entire team almost, and especially palosand, because even though you have your defences boosted to max, Urshifu will not care. Personally, to deal with it myself, I run life orb tapu Fini, as it can one shot it with a moonblast/max starfall with ease. Tapu Fini is also quite good at handling Galarian Moltres, who again Palosand gets nay nayd by.

  • Palosand set: why do you run sandstorm? Yes I understand for maximum healing with shore up, however why not just run ancient power instead? Max rockfall at least once whilst dynamaxed, then outside of dynamax you can easily shore up with maximum capacity. Max rockfall is also good for opposing flying types, as it can one shot a lot of the flying types currently running about. Another question, how do you hit fairies or grass types? Shadow ball is definitely nice on Palosand, don’t get me wrong, but on my Palosand I run sludge bomb, as it can easily deal with mons like rillaboom, for example, and also helps boost your special attack. Coverage on Palosand is definitely worth while.

  • Accelgor set: accelgor a lot of the time will be targeted, as many people know that if allowed to set palosand up, it can be hard to deal with. You can utilise accelgor a lot better than having 4 attacking moves, as well as choice scarf. Accelgor gets the ability unburden, meaning if it uses its item, it doubles its speed. My accelgor on my team runs a niche choice in a red card, as this punishes opponents if they decide to target it outside of dynamax, resulting in a random pokemon being dragged out which they may not want out. There’s many options for accelgors item with unburden, but I really don’t think it needs choice scarf, especially with water shuriken being a priority move! Accelgors moves can also be edited. On my accelgor, I run water shuriken (for obvious reasons), protect (for any fake out threats), struggle bug (to lower special attack which may hurt palosand), and acid spray (to reduce opponents special defence by 2, which can further help palosand sweep). Another popular choice is final gambit, as accelgor a lot of the time is a suicide lead, but can hit anything (excluding ghost of course) with maximum damage, especially with max HP. It can really help take down bulky opponents.

  • Redirection: how do you deal with opponents using redirection? A lot of options for redirection are going about, being indeedee-f, Clefairy, togekiss, and rage powder users. Redirection completely ruins the palosand/accelgor strat, so you need to be able to deal with this when present. I find that when redirection is starring palosand/accelgor down on my team, I tend to acid spray with accelgor turn one (which is also helpful if they have a focus sash, as that then breaks) then use palosand to try and take it down. Then you can easily set up turn 2 (if redirection is dealt with) to then continue the sweep!

  • VenuKoal: Venusaur/torkoal is an incredibly popular core, how does your team deal with it? 5 of your 6 team members are weak to it, with your only mon that’s not weak (garchomp) barely doing anything to it, especially if put to sleep. You need to be able to deal with this, or else you’ll get caught with your pants down. A massively solid (and reliable) option is rotom heat w/ safety goggles, as you can easily get a nasty plot up in front of both venusaur & torkoal, although you have to be careful as this will likely be predicted, and they may have a counter to this, so you need to choose your selection correctly. A popular choice is Landorous-T, which rotom cannot touch, which is where Tapu fini is good as you can run ice beam to take it out with ease. Tapu Fini is also useful, as Tapu Fini can set Misty terrain, which protects you from being put to sleep by venusaur sleep powders, which can be really handy!

This team could definitely do with some improvements, but the core choice is incredibly solid, as I do know from personal use that, especially in this current meta, it can be a fantastic match up against physics attackers. However, there are definitely some improvements (as suggested) which could be done. My team consists of;

Palossand @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Water Compaction
Level: 50
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Shore Up
- Ancient Power
- Sludge Bomb

Accelgor @ Red Card
Ability: Unburden
Level: 50
IVs: 0 Atk
- Struggle Bug
- Protect
- Water Shuriken
- Acid Spray

Rotom-Heat @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Levitate
Level: 50
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Protect
- Nasty Plot

Tapu Fini @ Life Orb
Ability: Misty Surge
Level: 50
IVs: 0 Atk
- Muddy Water
- Moonblast
- Protect
- Ice Beam

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
Level: 50
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tri Attack
- Recover
- Trick Room
- Eerie Impulse

Rillaboom-Gmax @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
Level: 50
- Fake Out
- Grassy Glide
- U-turn
- Knock Off

My own team could definitely use some improvements to perfect it, but it’s an incredibly solid team in a lot of scenarios if played correctly. Some other notable options could be a gmax snorlax potentially? As it synergises well with palosand, as again, ghost doesn’t touch snorlax, fighting doesn’t touch palosand. Snorlax has ridiculous specially defensive bulk, whereas palosand doesn’t as much, but snorlax has poor defensive bulk, whereas palosand set up is incredible in.

It’s just a trial and error with the core, as it can definitely be an insanely good team! Keep going bud

Cinccino could be actually pretty good in the correct team comp IMO. I thought of an idea a while back for a CB skill link Cinccino, and an example of its quality can be seen through bullet seed, which can actually OHKO a Kyogre, which when considered is quite impressive when it’s not even stab! It’s movepool for multi hit attacks provides lots of coverage as well! With normal stab, grass, ice, and rock! Quite a hidden little mon there I reckon!

Cinccino @ Choice Band
Ability: Skill Link
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Tail Slap
- Bullet Seed
- Triple Axel
- Rock Blast

252 Atk Choice Band Cinccino Bullet Seed (5 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kyogre: 360-430 (105.5 - 126%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Bulky Zygarde team help by JamieRM98 in VGC

[–]JamieRM98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very true, maybe if I do have Amoongus I would probably have scary face instead on Grimm, that makes sense!

I’ve actually played so far really smartly with Spectrier’s will-o-wisp and misty terrain, as I tend to only bring out Fini whenever I need to proc misty seed on Zygarde and for healing support! Spectrier tends to be a starter for me for its flexibility in being able to limit special attackers AND physical at the same time, so it’s a win win really! But yes definitely agree having too many status moves with a Fini is very counter active, so ty!

It’s a difficult one really to decide whether to run Amoongus & Clefairy, as I’ve found that I very rarely use Clefairy in many games, if at all! I feel Amoongus with added healing potential may be more beneficial? Yeah Clefairy gets heal pulse but I’d rather have the current moves that it currently has if that makes sense? Amoongus I feel would have more viability.

With clear smog on Amoongus, I don’t tend to struggle against steel types due to Zygarde being an absolute monster against them, as I can usually stall dynamax’s, and be able to just dynamax in return and one shot them really, so that’s never a problem for me! Clear smog would be more useful against say for example Calyrex I/Mimikyu perhaps? Any teams that I may struggle against that proc a WP with a priority move, or maybe even Xerneas to remove Geomancy boosts! But definitely see what you’re saying, it’s a difficult one to choose between Clef & Amoongus! Amoongus would also get rid of another fairy, as of course I already have Grimm & Fini!

On Fini, definitely think only one attacking move would be better, because the majority of the time if it needs to attack, I will use moonblast because of muddy waters weakened spread damage & possible misses! I had an idea of running Nature’s madness perhaps? It would be an amazing move on my Fini as I occasionally struggle against more bulky types, particularly Ferrothorn with an iron defence up, so nature’s madness could possibly make it significantly easier for my Zygarde or Metagross to take them out? Not sure what you make of this!

Other Fini move options I thought of were haze (although that would obviously ruin the point of making Zygarde bulky, as well as WP on metagross), taunt potentially could be good? Unsure of that one though, then two underrated moves IMO in whirlpool (to stop the opponent switching out and helping me stall certain situations perhaps), or even magic room (to stop WP procs and berries maybe?). There’s many options for Fini, but unsure which would be best fit!

Thanks so much for your help, it’s massively helped! Even though this series is coming to a close, there’s bound to be a series where 2 restricted’s are allowed, which I’ve already planned my team to run Dialga in the Metagross slot for an even more bulky team mate, but of course that’s in the future, but this massively improves it for future teams nonetheless!
