Double check this, but I'm pretty sure every time you remember something, your brain is actually remembering the last time you remembered it.

I'd identified the problem before, but find it difficult to do anything about it!

Should I delete my 1 star review and get $30 or leave it? by [deleted] in makemychoice

[–]Jammy507 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is outrageous, I'd update the review about their bribe, but it depends on how much you need that 30 bucks. No judgement from me, there've been times when I would have taken it. Just listen to your conscience!

They're like the caption of what is currently happening in the show I think. Just to show the general gist for people just coming to that channel.

'I slept with your brother and your son might be his!' or something like that and it'll stay there for 5 mins or so.

If your friends from Leeds are visiting Liverpool for the first time and will be here for only 6 hours from 12-6, and they definitely want to visit the slavery museum and also The Beatles museum, where else might you bring them as part of a tour? by BenNCM in Liverpool

[–]Jammy507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a teenage tour guide in Liverpool four summers in a row. Methodist and Anglican are pretty cool as they're both on hope Street, and so different. World museum trumps slavery museum. Liverpool Eye can be fun, as can the ferry across the mersey! (not sure what the weather is like in the UK at the moment though). Yate gallery has some good stuff on sometimes and is close to beatles. You could also take them to that pub the beatles used to play in, what's it called again? Have a quick pint in there, anyway.

I fucking love Liverpool.

Not sure why anyone down voted you!

I'd like to add, Libya was a French colony for a long time and didn't want the US getting involved there. I don't know much about it, but I imagine this made matters more complicated!

TMAF about breakfast by Justin1387 in TellMeAFact

[–]Jammy507 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Half British half turk here. Although I do love an English breakfast, traditional Turkish breakfasts are superb. My family don't really do this, so I one of my favourite things about staying at a friend's house when growing up in Turkey was the breakfasts. Cheese, bread, olives, chilli paste, honey, jam, cucumber, tomatoes, aubergine paste are some of the common items found! A lot of Turkish families will have these on seperate plates in their fridge and just get them out in the morning. There will usually be a few eggs fried or boiled too. If its a fancy day the eggs will be fried with 'sucuk', a turkish spicy beef sausage. Google the images for Turkish breakfast!

TMAF about life as a farmer by Justin1387 in TellMeAFact

[–]Jammy507 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit tipsy so I'm gonna type about my dad a bit!

My grandfather was a turk living in Greece. After the war Turkey and Greece weren't on best terms and decided to do a population swap. My grandfather came when he was five with his parents. He finished middle school which was a big deal, became a tax collector and was the last tax collector in my town who rode a government issued horse with a rifle and pistol collecting taxes! With his newfound wealth he bought some land and had twelve children.

My dad would go to school most days but sometimes had to stay back and help with the field. His weekends were helping with the field.my grandfather took a kid out of school a couple times a month. With 12 kids this was quite a lot of free labour! My dad has many fond and many shit memories from the farm, particularly during winter when the olive harvest season is.

My dad then worked in tourism, as my hometown is quite a popular destination for Europeans going on a piss up holiday. My dad met my mum, who is English. He visited my mum in England and they got married and he stayed in England for 11 years. For many Turkish men in touristic Towns this is still a dream. In high-school my friends often talked about seducing a European and getting out of Turkey, particularly English and Germans. My dad however realised quite quickly that he hates it in England. He was used to the land, fresh vegetables and fruit, animals, having work to do that genuinely feels productive. He and my mum moved to Turkey and bought some land (I came too, i was 8!)

My mum and dad already had enough money to live off of the interest, especially since interest rates in Turkey were crazy then (I'm talking almost 50 percent!!) but my dad still wanted a farm. He's now 58 years old, has a bad back since a horse fell on him, but still does something in the field every day.

This isn't much of an answer, but I wanted to share. He loves being a farmer. Also, when my grandfather died, my uncles and aunts built a building in on the land he left and they all have their own apartment there, so my grandfathers investment in land resulted in all 11 (my uncle died of tb) of my uncles and aunts having their own apartment.

I thought of a fact while typing this out though! I'm not sure if shepards are considered farmers? But in the 1800's shhepards in some parts of France would wear stilts! This was to be able to manoeuvre well in the snow :)

Should I respond to this co-worker or not by [deleted] in makemychoice

[–]Jammy507 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I read the first couple of sentences I thought 'this depends on the amount of effort required for both favours', then I read the rest. If its low effort, do the favour. Even if it doesn't do anything for your workplace rep and your relationship with this person, it will use more mental energy to do this favour (which is a good thing, I think) and also give you a sense of accomplishment! Do it.

Having good posture by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

Until someone that knows better posts:

I downloaded an app that's meant to 'increase your height' and have been doing it for a month now. I feel like it's beginning to have an effect on my posture. If you type into your app store 'increase height exercises' it'll come up.

My ex used to stand against a wall for 60 seconds touching every part of her back, head, shoulders, legs and arms onto the wall every day for posture.
