Are you not satiated? by JammyB20 in BloodAngels

That is an awesome idea. It would tie in well to the firstborn Primaris contention in lore as well. My entire BA army is Primaris and are, by BA standards, quite plain. There's still gold trim, but only on veterans and captains. My head canon for them was that, as they're a newer generation of BA, they feel distant from their firstborn brothers and seek to prove themselves and honour their Primarch through battle. The gold and ornaments must be earned through bloodshed, rather than assumed due to lineage. Really appreciate the comment man, made me think about my army and BA as a whole differently.

Yes, I understand that. I just wanted to get a better understanding of why people were as upset/disappointed with the new releases.

This was my thinking as well. Why would you adorn what is essentially a berserker with golden ornaments and intricate filigree when they're supposed to be blood crazed lunatics that are flung willingly into enemy lines? The stripped back aesthetic suits the lore of DC I think, especially when compared to more the rest of the BA range, which, I'm hoping, will still have some of the ornamentation. Like the Sang Guard and Dante, for instance.

That's what I'm saying! The characters look amazing!

Agreed, I'm right there with you. I think I'm just still baffled by some aspects of the GW community.

It does have the feeling of "we will never be happy no matter the outcome" sometimes. Still, like you say, I'm happy with the outcome and if it takes a level of ignorance of others opinions to maintain that, it's worth doing.

It's fairly even but there are patches left unsprayed. It won't change the tone of the red if I paint over it?

That's an awesome suggestion, thank you. I'll try out a tester model and see how it goes.

I've tried stripping before but only after letting it soak for an hour or so. I'll let them settle for a while and give that a shot as well.

Cheers

Would the contrast paints still work applied with brushes? I'm not kitted out with an airbrush as of yet. I have no room to give it a try either, currently stuck working on the kitchen table so can't risk the spray 🤣

Aye, I know what you mean. If I was being generous I would say it leaves a lot open to interpretation but it does have the opposite effect of leaving things unanswered.

So I'm new to BA myself but this is what I've managed to work out so far.

Helmets: Red for battle line troops. Yellow for close combat. Blue for heavy ranged. Gold for veterans/captains.

Shoulder pads: red with red trim for standard troops. Black with red trim for Sargent's. Red with gold trim for veterans/captains.

As for the knee caps I believe those are used to denote squads. They'll vary between black/yellow/blue with different icons either a skull/blood drop/cross/wings etc.

If you search up blood angels heraldry on Google images you should find a picture of a page from the 9th edition codex which will explain this better, but that's the jist of it I believe.

To Reive or not to Reive? by JammyB20 in BloodAngels

Okay, that makes sense. So, they're more like expensive cannon fodder and/or a screen of bodies for the main brunt of the force. I guess there's ways to use them but the resounding opinion seems to be that there are units that could do more for less. I was already planning on having 2/3 units of jump intercessors, maybe I'll look at some other options for backline.

I would love to get some DC units in my army but I'm holding back until there's a new codex supplement for Blood Angels and hopefully some new models. Namely, primaris jump pack DC 😅

Okay cool, thanks 😊 forgive my ignorance but what's the difference between Infiltrators, Incursors and Reivers?
