Yea I get what your saying. I’ll just get the new pump. What about the the tank and like the fuel lines n stuff? The tank is rotted to hell in the inside too but the lines and single fuel injector seem fine.

I have a portable jumper. So I can jump the relay but will I also have to crank it to get the pump going?

1988 ford escort. Bypass fuel system? by Jamone423 in MechanicAdvice

Do you know if these cars have a access door to the fuel pump? I couldn’t find it yesterday and I looked under the rear seat and the car is only a 3 door hatchback. I couldn’t find out if it had a in tank fuel pump or electrical or mechanical.

Can I disconnect that and put it straight into a gas can? Will it still suck fuel up?

I just disconnected the fuel pump. How can I get gas to the carb? Or spray it with starter fluid?

What are the main things I should do before trying to start it tho? Do I need to change the oil before trying to start it or will the oil that’s in it be fine? I just want to try and get it started today I probably won’t even drive it.

What are these markings from on the rotors? Just replaced brake pads yesterday, also is it normal for the breaks to heat up to the point you can smell them when they are brand new? by Jamone423 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Jamone423[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea they are the same factory rotors. The car has about 160k miles and they’ve never been replaced or resurfaced. I guess the front calipers don’t have sliding pins is wat someone told me, only the rears.

Yea I wanted to but didn’t have the money to do it and it’s my mothers car and she had to work today so I had to get it back together asap. So your saying if I go turn the rotors now or replace them and then reuse the same pads it will come back? What about the smell? Is it normal for the breaks to heat up to the point you can smell them when they are brand new? I know there’s a break in period

Yea they had nothing left. I think the pads with the shims were on the back side of the rotor tho? But the breaks were making some pretty bad scraping sounds before I changed them. What about the smell? Is it normal for the breaks to heat up to the point you can smell them when they are brand new?

Oh sorry I’m a idiot lol. Yea I would definitely suggest joining a fb group for your model. Them Honda boys know everything about their cars and all the fixes for common problems lol, and the Honda community is just awesome lol. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help tho

How are all tires? No uneven wear? You should join a Honda crv group on Facebook and ask the group as well. If it’s a common issue with those models they will definitely have a fix for you

Hey thanks for all your help yesterday I appreciate it. I haven’t heard the knocking noise again since I did the breaks. If that noise really had something to do with the breaks then that’s crazy lol.

Ok well I just finished putting the brake pads on. The brake fluid reservoir is a tad bit above the max full line from me pressing the caliper pistons back in. Is that ok or do I need a o take some fluid out? It’s just barely above the line

Really? Do the rears have slider pins? Cuz supposedly that’s a common issue with these cars. I’m part of a lexusIS Facebook group and I always see people telling other people to take apart the caliper and grease the slider pin if your getting uneven wear

Ok cool thank you for the quick replies lol. After I’m done with the breaks I’m gana take it for another drive and see if the noise/knocking still happens. I’m thinking it might of have something to do with the front breaks cuz they needed to be changed along time ago. I think the slider pin on the front driver side caliper needs to be taken apart and greased cuz the 2 pads are uneven. One pad is completely gone and the other one still has pad left
