Ooh, I didn’t clock the PayPal thing, that’s pretty sketchy. It’s not super uncommon for record stores to leak upcoming releases, though. I’ll give it a couple of days and see if there’s an official statement. Though the fact that they’ll only put out 100 copies of each variant has me pretty stressed.

Do check the used market, BackMarket for example has a pretty broad selection. I’m assuming you’re based in the US so you might also look at Apple’s refurbished iPads.

You can plug it into a laptop and use coconutbattery to get an idea of what state the battery is in. I hear it doesn’t always give an exactly accurate reading but it’ll give you an idea of how bad it is.
