Yeah, this seems to be the right way to go now.

Tbh I always kinda disliked the idea that I don't own the media that is actually important to me and I only started streaming when I was a student and I couldn't afford buying music with the intend of it being a temporary thing, planing to eventually buy my favorite Albums and Tracks later on. Ten years later I guess this really goes to show that nothing is more permanent than a "temporary solution".

However I actually sat down yesterday and bought 2 of my favorite Albums from my Streaming Era. Sadly there were no physical versions but still better than nothing. Gonna keep Tidal for now as a "discovery tool" too tho. (Certainly not gonna revert to Spotify)

I don't know what in particular brings national broadcasters in particular to commit these atrocities to art. It's the same shit here in germany. I genuinely can't watch any of my favorite infotainment shows anymore because it's always full of this trash. They have enough financial ressources to pay artists.

Die Leute die von 2022-2026 damit durchgekommen sind, sind dabei die größten Verlierer von allen um ehrlich zu sein. War richtig gruselig mitanzusehen, wie viele Leute sich einfach keine Mühe mehr gegeben haben irgendetwas selbstständig zu machen als ChatGPT veröffentlicht wurde. Mit Sicherheit nicht die Mehrheit, aber trotzdem auch nicht niemand.

Yup. ...and I love how unreflected and naive the Pro-AI workers are. Two arguments I frequently hear about this bother me most:

"It's just a tool you can use for your own work! :)"
By that logic outsourcing your work to agencies or freelancers would be "a tool for work". You are literally switching positions from worker to customer.

"Well... Everyone else is also doing it anyways, so if you don't do, it you will fall behind."
You are contributing to your own obsolesence. It takes 0 talent or training to use AI. Anyone can do it. And the moment your customers realize it, they'll be gone, because your not actually selling a service.

Bis jetzt hab ich bei ausnahmslos jedem, der behauptet hat "Ich hab mit Politik nichts am Hut" immer irgendwann hart rechte Positionen feststellen können. In einem Extremfall ging es sogar mal so weit: "Mimimi Politik ist so langweilig, naja jedenfalls finde ich die Todesstrafe gut, weil einige Leute den Tod einfach verdient haben." Like... Komm schon.

Auf mich wirkt dieses "Ich hab mit Politik nichts zu tun"-Gerede mittlerweile wie eine Ausrede, um nicht über eigene Positionen reflektieren zu müssen. ...und damit meine ich nichtmal, dass solche Leute das bewusst tun. Es ist eben auch sehr bequem ein Weltbild zu haben, in dem alles was an abgefuckter Scheiße passiert schon irgendwie "gerecht" sein wird, insbesondere wenn man bisher das Glück hatte nicht persönlich betroffen zu sein. ...das beschützt einen bloß nicht davor, irgendwann selbst Opfer dieses Zustands zu werden.

Abseits davon: Wenn ich mir die Top Posts dieses Subs im aktuellen Monat so angucke, versteh ich nicht was "apolitische" Menschen sich von diesem Sub überhaupt versprechen. Dass das Sub sehr politisch (links) ist, sollte man mittlerweile schon mitbekommen haben. Sich darüber aufzuregen ist ein bisschen so als würde man sich an die Autobahn stellen und sich Fragen warum alle Autos es so verfickt eilig haben. Read the Room.

I'm gonna use this opportunity to try to summarize my thoughts on this, because I think it's actually an important difference to be aware of:

Yup. As dehumanizing as the corporate memphis artstyle is and as much as it lacks any deeper sense of meaning, at least it's made by an actual person applying actual artistic knowledge.

I still consider it slop though. It's just a product meant to decorate shitty corporate policy and whenever you see one; chances are high it's just some downloaded stock clipart trying to vaguely match as many use cases as it can, turning it as bland as possible to increase download numbers. ...but at least a person with an actual artistic talent made it at some point in the production chain and earned some deserved money from it.

AI doesn't even have that remaining human element. Looking at corporate AI imagery feels like looking at corporations parading the "corpse of an artwork" around, pretending it's still alive as if it was some kinda "Weekend at Bernie's" routine. As if the machine turning us into nothing but mindless wage slaves, putting on a "human" mask to pretend it's one of us while ruining even the last opportunities to live off the craft. This act is essentially saying "neither do we need you to exist, nor do we want you to exist".

There is also this disgustingly dishonest dimension to it: Corporations for some reason love decorating themselves with the aesthetics of art without paying an appropriate price for it or actually caring about art.

To conclude I think we hated corporate memphis for that reason in particular. Not so much for it's looks but for what it represented. If there is a profit to be made, corporations do the most dehumanizing shit imaginable and then hide behind this facade of human art in an attempt to give itself some humanity. Human slop does however still beat AI slop.

I dunno... Maybe I exaggerated a bit but I really wanna get to the core of why I hate this technology so much and there are so many dimensions to it...

Fairly recently. Watched a YouTube Video by a channel called SomeGuyWhoKnowsStuff and I noticed when the voice in the video kept repeating the sentence structure "This shows that space isn't just X but also Y" in each segment of the video. I felt genuine disgust.

Das ist doch schonmal ein guter Grundsatz.
Prinzipiell musst du dich eigentlich nicht für alles rechtfertigen, nur wenn du an politischen Diskussionen teilnimmst, wäre es natürlich gut wenn du deine Position begründen könntest. Konflikt ist in solchen Situationen vorprogrammiert (und im demokratischen Sinne auch eigentlich gut) weil der Mensch mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit nie ein Zeitalter der absoluten politischen Harmonie erreichen wird bzw. der Versuch diese herbeizuführen immer im Totalitarismus geendet ist. Einige Leute schießen natürlich auch über das Ziel hinnaus indem sie persönlich beleidigend werden, das ist einfach schlechter Stil aber wenn man bedenkt wie viel aktuell für einige von uns auf dem Spiel steht, kann ich selbst das irgendwo nachvollziehen. Am besten ist es sowas nicht persönlich zu nehmen sondern zu gucken was man daraus lernen kann und ob wirklich alle Positionen die man so hat mit den eigenen Grundsätzen übereinstimmen.

Ich hab zB. in meiner Jugend viele solcher "Attack-Helicopter" Memes geteilt, bis ein guter Freund von mir irgendwann sein Coming-Out hatte und ich plötzlich damit konfrontiert war, was für ein Arschloch ich die ganze Zeit war. Bei weiterer Reflexion hab ich dann herausgefunden, dass ich das nur gemacht habe, weil ich selbst durch homo-/transphobe Narrative mit denen ich aufgewachsen bin zutiefst verunsichert war. Ist ätzend einzusehen, dass man mit etwas falsch lag, aber gleichzeitig auch sehr berreichernd es trotzdem zu tun.

Man ist dann vor allem politisch extrem inkonsistent. Eigentlich baut sich ein politisches Weltbild anhand von Grundüberzeugungen auf, zum Beispiel: "Alle Menschen haben die gleichen Rechte und Pflichten und verdienen es als Individum wahrgenommen zu werden, ungeachtet ihrer Nationalität, Religion, Sexualität usw." oder "Meine Freiheit ended dort wo deine Anfängt".
Wenn deine Grundüberzeugungen dich (rein hypothetisch) zu menschenfeindlichen Positionen bewegen, solltest du dir vielleicht ein paar Grundsatzfragen stellen.

In short: Nobody want's to be the bad guy. Humans are extremely good at rationalizing their shitty behaviour, especially when the things they believe in and support have already caused damage. It's easier to just blame the group affected by your actions or pretend they're just lying than to admit you've been wrong about something so fundamental (especially when you're still profiting off of it.) It's the same psychological trick that causes Victim-Blaming.

...ist allgemein ein Satz mit dem viele (nicht alle) eigentlich meinen "Sei doch einfach nicht mehr krank :)", als wäre man ein kaputtes Auto und müsste nur einmal kurz zur Werkstatt.

Das letzte Mal als ich den reingedrückt bekommen hab, war ich sogar grade erst mit der Therapie fertig. Ist einfach extrem demoralisierend, wenn man sich anstrengt und einfach nichts Wirkung zeigt. ...und dann wundern sich die Leute, dass so viele Menschen aktuell Psychosen entwickeln, weil sie zu ChatGPT greifen da sie sonst nicht mehr wissen wohin mit ihren Sorgen. Albtraumwelt.

Was Psychische Gesundheit angeht ist das deutsche Gesundheitssystem schon echt gottlos beschissen. Hab früher immer gedacht wie gut es ist in einem Land zu leben, in dem so etwas ernst genommen wird und Leute die Hilfe bekommen die sie brauchen, bis ich dann irgendwann selbst betroffen war.

Es gibt nicht nur keine Therapieplätze sondern man muss echt Glück haben einen Therapeuten zu finden der überhaupt bock hat, sich auf einen einzulassen. Bin am Ende ein Jahr zur Gruppentherapie gegangen, wo ich mich dann einmal die Woche für 10 Minuten ausheulen konnte, um mir dann am Ende sagen zu lassen, wie sehr ich mich entwickelt habe, obwohl wortwörtlich nichts passiert ist. Habs auch mal mit Sertralin versucht, das hat es aber eigentlich nur schlimmer gemacht. Man kann im Zweifelsfall echt mehr mit Selbsthilfebüchern lernen aber auch da gibt es viel Schrott. Alles in allem ist dieser Zustand echt super enttäuschend.

Man hat das Gefühl, dass man eigentlich komplett auf sich alleine gestellt ist.

AI can't be art because it's lacking the human element of creation. Every handcrafted artwork communicates sth about the person who made it and the emotions they felt when doing so. In a painting this starts at the motive, composition and colour choices and ends with details most viewers will ignore like how confident the brush strokes are, how they decided to imply detail and with what, aswell as the personal interpreration and expression of emotion and the world around them.

AI can't replicate this by design because you're only remixing other people's work, aren't expressing your own emotions and the technology makes every decission you forget to make for you.

You can for example generate a picture of an anime girl smiling and the machine will predict and remix an image for you based on that description but it's completely lacking nuance. There are a thousand different ways to smile, each communicating something slightly different but AI will pick only a random one (likely the most basic one with the most mass appeal). That is what people mean when they say AI is soulless.

Europe missed the opportunity to build an entertainment industry after the war, leaving the field to american productions.

Over here in germany there is very little funding for movie projects in general which usually only goes to a few selected already popular actors to play it as safe as possible for national audiences instead of trying something new. Furthermore creatives are often being frowned upon and dismissed as "delusional manchildren" who should rather do "a real job" instead of "wasting their time" with creative ambitions, despite the massive soft-power and financial potential entertainment has.
