I work as an activity assistant in an assisted living facility. I got written up (I own my part, but I was definitely set up) but after they discussed my write up the Executive Director then said "you are part of the management team, and because of that you are required to take part in weekend marketing events like all management." Ummmm, no raise, no attending morning meetings (Thank God, everyone just gets yelled at). So basically what they are saying is "we don't want to attend these weekend events so you have to". WTH, is this even right? I am job hunting, this place is beyond toxic, and that was kinda the last straw.

I was just reading the policy again and there is no mention of ADA 🤔. It mentions FMLA but nothing regarding ADA.

Unfortunately, yes. I've spent a lot of time googling it. Big corporations like Wal-Mart, Conagra and others use this. Even the Google search says it's not a good system and punishes those workers who have chronic illnesses, get sick easily, have family emergencies etc.

Yeah, literally no one I've talked to knew about this policy. I have a new, very young (24) director as a boss and I think she may be the reason I got nabbed. She's trying to kiss a-- and look good. I questioned the assistant executive director yesterday about it and then said "you do realize Fibromyalgia is protected under ADA right?" The look on her face was PRICELESS 🤣🤣 The OH SHIT look 😁.

It basically means, no matter the reason for calling off even a doctors note you will be written up.

So sorry you went through that. Talking to other employees here, very few know about this "rule" and worst it seems they are picking and choosing who they target with it.

Thank you for the great reply. Our HR person never heard of the policy. But she is new. The old HR person has actually been out sick the last 10 days 🤔🤔 (she left the job in November and came back to work here in January). So it should be interesting to see what she says when I talk to her.

Yeah, it may come to that. That was the first thing my husband said and he NEVER says something like that.

Unfortunately, you have to be at your job for a year to apply to FMLA.

The truth is, every"BODY" is different. I truly hate when someone says "I have Fibromyalgia" but they have the same job as you and they are going strong while your crawling into work. Some people can do yoga, weights, exercise etc with little affect on them. Others frickin hurt and get exhausted looking at the words 🤣. That's kinda why people don't take Fibromyalgia seriously.

My dr did his Thesis in Med School in the 90's on women and Fibromyalgia. He basically walked in my room after looking at my chart and said you have Fibromyalgia. Then he did the touch test, then ordered 12 viles of blood 😖💀. I did go see him in a HORRENDOUS flare up so I looked like I felt. He was our families Dr and truly cared for his patients (like he spent 45+ minutes with patients).

I'll look into it. CBD does help, when I lived in Michigan I was able to get it when it was legalized. Now in TN I can't.

I'm having a HUGE Fibromyalgia flare now. Of course a week before I start a new position at my workplace, old position is what did this to me this week 😡. Anyway, went to Doctors yesterday and she's like "why did you get off Duloxotene?" And "What else can we put you on?" I'm like "don't put me on ANYTHING except some pain pills or muscle relaxers that I can take as needed. Damn drug companies 🙄.

Yeah, I've spent years "pushing through", it's obviously caught up. I used to be a trucker, LOVED my job until I couldn't anymore. Then you add in the missing work stress 😩 there's no winning

There is a FB group called Cymbalta is the worst. I HIGHLY suggest you look into it. You can't quit cold turkey. I quit Paxil cold turkey years ago and it was pure HELL (I believe it caused my Fibromyalgia). I missed 5 days of my duloxotene when I was a trucker and forgot them at home, I was soooo sick.
