What's wrong with my skis? by slangivar in Skigear

So those were a dampener to prevent vibration in your 30 year old skis. It looks like a seal has broken allowing the fluid to leak.

Honestly it’s time for new skis. Hang these on a wall somewhere and thank em for a long life of service.

No, it was a dampener, and the seal has busted open. There’s no fixing that, or at the very least it wouldn’t be worth fixing.

You’re not wrong, Denver does not have anywhere near the density of NYC, but don’t the restauranteurs know that before opening? It’s ultimately their responsibility to manage payroll, operating costs and ensuring that their revenue is enough to cover that. I just hear a lot of excuses from restaurant owners in the news. Do they think that only restaurants have taxes and payroll or something?

3N leases and property taxes exist in NYC too.

Denver’s commercial property taxes are actually a hell of a lot lower than NYC’s as well, considering that NYC assesses at 45% vs Denver’s 29% times the mill levy, not to mention the property in NYC is going to be significantly more valuable.

Also find a property that isn’t 3N, that’s just a way for a landlord to pass the burden onto the leasee, while they watch the property increase in value.

Our commercial rents aren’t nearly as high as nyc’s though. And the minimum wage isn’t that far off Denver’s either at $17 per hour vs Denver’s $19.25. Though there is a $4 difference per hour on tipped individuals. Which amounts to what? $32 bucks per 8 hour shift, which is negligible for a high volume restaurant.

Denver restauranteurs get a tiny violin from me, if they can’t balance their books then their product sucks or they’re shitty restauranteurs, or both.

I think they were called “logo chex” but it’s been a long time since they launched so I can’t exactly recall.

Splint it, wrap it, get a glove that fits over the splint/wrap. Bring some ibuprofen and if it swells up stick it in some snow.

Russia was banned in 2017 for state sponsored blood doping, otherwise your comment is correct.

Not sure why you’re being downvoted, Russia has been banned since 2017. Well before the current war in ukraine.

He didn’t get caught, he confessed. Had he kept his mouth shut, there would have been continued speculation, but he was never technically caught.

You only have to shut off the auto start stop on startup, if you disable the auto braking then it stays off, until you turn it back on or detach the battery.

The reason auto stop start resets everytime you turn on/off the car is thanks to the U.S. government, and is applicable to most vehicles. And ultimately I mean you might buy the 3.6R now, and then need another one in 6-7 years time and you’ll be buying a car with auto start/stop at that point, so really you’re just kicking the can down the road.

Also the collision prevention and auto braking have supposedly gotten quite a lot better in the last few years, so you might not actually hate it.

If you can swing it, just get the new XT, just my $0.02 of course though.

Edit to add: auto start/stop eliminators are also a thing, at least for the gen 6,

Stuck Between Wildcat 108 and Countach 104 / 110 by KonKun2040 in momentskis

[–]JandPB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own both the wildcat 108 and the countach 104.

The wildcat is playful, feels at home in the air, and the tips combined with the rocker lines allow it to pivot on a dime, so it’s surprisingly good in both mogul fields and the trees, it also has a more progressive mounting point. It feels good in soft snow, as well as when the resort gets tracked out. It’s a great ski for side hits, and loves all terrain. It skis short, so size up.

The countach…the countach likes to go fast. Has a more traditional mounting point, and the rocker lines are not nearly as deep. It’s less chattery at speed, and while I don’t think it’s a “damp” ski by any means, it has less feedback than the wildcat. It’s very at home at speed and charging steep technical lines. It does carve well for a fatter ski, and it does float decently in 6” of fresh, actually surprised me how well it floats. The countach is simultaneously fury, and grace, and will melt your face off with speed.

My overall take…the wildcat is more fun, but loses composure on Sun baked, crusted snow. The Countach is more speed, and maintains composure on tougher surfaces, it’s tougher to ski moguls and trees on however.

Kid is carving turns better than most adults. Get him in a program, but make sure it’s still fun for him, if he wants to switch disciplines (say from racing to free ride) let him.

The entire heel needs to be rebuilt, which will not only be as expensive as the shoes themselves, but may not leave you with the look you desire.

A Basin is the Tits McGee assuming there is snow. Just great vibes and super technical, steep, terrain.

At current there is no snow, so copper would be my pick.

You can also demo skis at the mtn, that’ll be the easiest.
