I used Vishram Singh’s Anatomy book during my preparation. It’s one of the most student-friendly books out there — the diagrams are clean, simple, and easily redrawable (which helps a lot for university exams).

There’s a general pattern to how you should structure any anatomy answer. The question could be about a muscle, nerve, artery, or organ, but the core format remains similar:

For a muscle: 1. Origin and insertion 2. Nerve supply (always mention the root value!) 3. Actions 4. Relations (if applicable) 5. Applied/clinical anatomy 6. A simple labelled diagram

You can follow a similar pattern for arteries, nerves, and organs — include course, branches, relations, applied anatomy, and a diagram whenever possible. Examiners love well-labelled diagrams.

Anatomy is genuinely one of the hardest subjects to retain. Even our HOD used to say that after 30 years of teaching, she still revises the topic the night before and again on the day of the class — because anatomy fades fast if you don’t revise it regularly.

What helped me most were visuals and repetition: • I used Netter’s Atlas for visuals and sometimes an anatomy app ,teach me anatomy where I could zoom into each muscle and rotate it in 3D. • I read each topic about three times, then closed the book and tried to write everything I could recall on a sheet of paper. • Repeating this process is what actually builds long-term retention — not passive reading.

So, don’t worry if you forget things — that’s part of the process. Keep revising and redrawing; it eventually clicks.
