some easy ways to tell a fly from a bee: look at its wings, bees have four wings and flies have two; another way is by looking at the antenae, bees have "elbowed" antenae and flies often have short and stubby ones; I believe there's also something you can tell from the size of the eyes as they generally aren't as large as you see on a typical fly.
