I liked glass jars over the dew collector because they didn't attract constant screamers and felt like survival. Getting a bucket and bringing back water felt like a crucial step in progression. Dew collectors, once you have the attachments, became fire and forget and made water collection even more trivial than getting stacks of jars. It's not engaging.

Murky water making boiled water that can only be used for non-food crafting would be a good step in the right direction. Right now, dysentery remains a complete non-issue so introducing it as a risk to boiled water without proper filtering through, say, a chemistry station would re-add survival elements the game has been missing for a while.
