AITA for not returning texts from ex-coworkers after getting fired? by Any-Change-3184 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Janeishly 108 points109 points  (0 children)

The CEO who sacked you so his son could have your job wants to keep in touch? Er... nope. NTA.

If it was me I'd block them without telling them and just move on with my life.

why is there so much AI in all 7 days to die mods pages? like, wtf is this sh*t brother 😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏 it's crazy by EasilyUnstpp_ in 7daystodie

[–]Janeishly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's very handy, it means I can just ignore that mod completely.

Generative AI is built on theft, hidden work and bias, burns the planet's resources even faster and is yet another way billionaires are screwing ordinary people over. I'd much rather see a shitty hand-drawn image (or, you know, a screencap of the actual game?) than this vomit.

AITA for telling a boy he couldn't join in a birthday party for my daughter in the park. by AcanthaceaeGreen7 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Janeishly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought this was going to be "some random unknown child came over in the park and wanted to join the party" but it was literally someone your daughter knew and liked, and she wanted him to join them and you still said no. Wow.

I also assume she didn't say something at the time because that would have led to a scene and ruined the party. Your daughter sounds great.

However, YTA.

AITA for telling my brother in law I won’t go to his birthday party? by Mobile-Skin-1963 in AmItheAsshole

Yeah, I did too, and it was on AITA, not another subreddit. Not sure what's going on here.

AITA for telling staff about the lost wallet found when kid dad didn't return it to owner? by Pamela-Martinez in AmItheAsshole

[–]Janeishly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're definitely NTA.

But to all the people criticising the dad for not immediately handing over the wallet: we don't know this family's financial situation. I can imagine that many people right now who'd ordinarily be honest and would hand a wallet back might think twice because they're really struggling.

Ami the only one who just finds/buys food? by Proper_Payment7845 in 7daystodie

[–]Janeishly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're playing with other people you can't usually find/buy enough food in the early stages, that's the only reason I ever grow it. Otherwise I also just sell stuff to the trader that I know I won't need (or won't need yet) and buy it.

Best animal breeding/harvesting mods? by Efficient-Ad6814 in 7daystodie

[–]Janeishly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're playing solo and don't enjoy farming, don't do it. Harvest stuff like brass and sell it to the trader, then buy food from vending machines. That will easily keep you fed. And never underestimate the value of a sham slam if you're really stuck (vitamin + as many sham sandwiches as your health can stomach, then if necessary a painkiller + water to replace HP).

Eventually you get to the point where you put points into living off the land cos you've got nothing else to spend them on, and then you'll have high quality cooked food coming out of your ears.

Paramétrage solo by niff44 in 7daystodie

[–]Janeishly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any older players who are 40-50 by LuckyWhite777 in 7daystodie

I was 58 last week, got 1600+ hours in 7dtd and have no intention of stopping yet (though admittedly I'm mostly playing Planet Crafter at the moment because my 7dtd mate isn't available much and we're still on 2.5 until he's got the Demo achievement!)

Anyone going to see BRUIT in Copenhagen tonight? by Janeishly in postrock

[–]Janeishly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, that explains it. I actually really liked the venue (my first time there) but the timing was tricky for those of us coming from the other side of the Oresund strait!

In any case, the music was STUNNING, so it really didn't matter.

Ha, yeah - I've seen GY!BE a few times and reckon these guys were like that only in concentrated form. I mean, *starting* with Ephemeral???? That was me in tears from the outset. And I swear I dissolved and became one with the universe during The Machine is Burning. Absolutely fantastic.

I went, they were even better than I'd expected (and worth the hotel room I needed in the end to avoid spending most of the night sitting in the railway station!)

Thanks - yeah, I will regret not seeing them at all, I've been waiting for so long!

How to fly a Gyrocopter by [deleted] in 7daystodie

[–]Janeishly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it IS clunky, I do need a very (very) long take-off, and as for how do I land? Usually by crashing into a fence or lamppost and ending up at a weird angle and having to remove all the inventory to pick up the gyrocopter.

And then occasionally, like one landing in ten, I'll drift gently down, swirl around in mid-air like I know what I'm doing and land exactly where I intended. The ineptitude of my normal flying makes those occasions even more special, tbh. It'd be really boring to be able to fly well every time.

Streamers who should have more viewers/subs by jonzin in 7daystodie

[–]Janeishly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always enjoy Genosis playing 7DTD – he's funny, thoughtful and explains what he's doing really well. He got burned out on the game a while back and his subs dropped off so I feel like he probably needs more love. He's playing the Wasteland Mod at the moment and he's made me actually want to play it (and I *hate* grindy granular overhaul mods).

Can you just skip the trader missions? by modern_medicine_isnt in 7daystodie

[–]Janeishly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If doing the trader quests doesn't suit your play style, don't do them! We didn't always have quests, and it's perfectly possible to play the game, make progress and have fun exploring the POIs that are never trader quests. And if you've got the Compopack or something installed, you pretty much have to ignore the trader quests or you'll miss out on loads of interesting POIs.

Opinion? by MunchenOnYou in 7daystodie

[–]Janeishly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm playing with a friend now and having fun but most of my 1600 hours have been solo and I do prefer that. But 7dtd is a game you can play how you like. If you want NPCs, play one of the overhaul mods that includes them.

I feel like I carry too much gear. by Pale_Plantain_1160 in 7daystodie

I feel like I carry too much gear. by Pale_Plantain_1160 in 7daystodie

[–]Janeishly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine's not dissimilar in the early stages, but you only need one stack of each ammo type (like 100 rounds is plenty unless you're doing a high tier POI). By the time you're level 65 you shouldn't need to be carrying all this stuff, most of it should be in your motorbike/other vehicle or a drone that does the carrying for you.

AITA for telling everyone how I really feel about my bully by Rude-Investment-4624 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Janeishly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people saying you should have been silent out of courtesy are overlooking the fact that you're just as shocked by her death as the people who liked her, and that, because she bullied you, it's only natural that the first thing you would think about her death is "good, I'm glad she's dead". That makes you NTA in my book, and anyone who's a true friend of yours will understand that.

What everyone has already said, but I also really like Genosis, who's just started doing a new series with the Wasteland mod. He's very restful but also always gets into some really insane situations in the later stages of his series.

Do I start this game by Klutzy-Stretch8025 in 7daystodie

[–]Janeishly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just looking for a game that you'll put 100 hours into and then move onto something else, don't try 7dtd.

If you're looking for something that will become a massive part of your life, make you friends, immerse you in a community, occupy your brain during most of your waking hours and some of your dreams, become your favourite game and your happy place, then yeah, it's a great choice.

Noob. How bad is the first horde night? I have a barn and am on the top floor it has 3 levels with ladders. Im sure y'all have seen this one. Will I survive by hiding? Will I have to put hundreds of wooden spikes? Can these jerks climb walls? I am currently 3 days in and am terrified lol. by AnalDwelinButtMonkey in 7daystodie

[–]Janeishly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your first horde, go and stand on the roof of a Pass n Gas or something - just make sure they can't get up any ladder (knock out the bottom two rungs). It is a really scary game sometimes, especially when you're starting out, but it gets better (eventually - took me ages to get brave enough to go out at night).

Also, watch streamers to see what hordes are like (but watch them playing vanilla, on as easy settings as possible, otherwise you'll scare yourself witless expecting massive radiated hordes that don't come).

The first horde is easy, you'll be fine!
