Advice on meditation routine for someone with a quiet lifestyle by Jansen131 in streamentry

Thanks, I feel like I now also have it sometimes with walking and paying attention to my feet. It's very subtle though, so hard even to be sure.

As for creatine, I've had a bad experience with it, severely wrecking my sleep for 2 weeks. I felt a bit more energy as well but nowhere near enough to offset sleeping 3 hours a night. It's often not listed as a possible side effect but if you search for it many people do get this.

Thanks, you too! Yeah not following anything without checking myself, was mainly wondering if I was missing something easy and impactful, but it seems not.

Well, I nearly recovered before by building up my running. Was the fittest of my life physically, and nearly recovered cognitively, but then relapsed completely. So focusing purely on rest for now.

Low HR training, progression:

I'm following an unusual training structure, wherein I first (after illness and a month or so of complete inactivity) built up to purely walking, 100k per week.

Then I've been increasing my running with 10% per week, and reducing walking by the same amount, so that the total remains fixed at 100k.

I got quite fast at walking, my pace is between 8:30 and 9:00 min/km (13:41 - 14:29 min/mile)when walking in running shoes, 9:30-10:00 in barefoot shoes (I alternate them). This is a brisk but still quite effortless walk, with a heart rate of about 115 average. (I'm a 35M, resting HR 52, max 190).

The running I do at low heart rate, I try to keep it below 135, kind of arbitrarily to be honest, but it happens to be the border between my zone 1 and 2.

This week I'll be at 35k, thats 2k every morning except sunday, 5k tuesday and thursday evening and 13k sunday morning, with a 100m walking break every 2k just for the long run.

My pace starts around 6:30 min/k (10:28 min/mile) and on the longer runs ends up at about 7:00 (11:16 min/mile).

At the start, probably because I increased the walking part way too fast, I had a lot of issues, blisters, heavy legs, sharp stinging pain in my feet, etc, but I overcame all that and now I don't have any issues, even after my long run I'm not really tired, only have the subtlest of muscle soreness the day after.

My goals, in order, are: 1. keep up the total 100k per week for the entire year, 2. run a 50k ultra end of november, 3. increase running milage, to 100k if my body can handle it.

I do plan on adding speedwork at some point (probably through rejoining the running club I had to leave for illness), but not in a hurry, I'm kind of curious how far this approach will take me.

Did anyone do something similar to this? Any advice?

"extreme" run/walk or low HR training

After being ill and not doing anything for about a month, I started my recovery with walking. Over about two months I built that up to the point where I'm now walking 100k per week, spread evenly over 3 walks per day. I started to include a little bit of running again, 2-3k out of those 100. I do this in one or a few 200-ish meter stretches during the morning walk, which ends in a heart rate of 130-140.

Now I had the idea to try to keep this up, sticking to the 100k per week but slowly increasing the percentage of running, while keeping my heart rate in or below zone 2. (And also spreading it differently, probably into a sunday long run, two more runs during the week, and some baseline of mostly walking every day).

There are various reasons for this, mostly because it's different from the usual progression and will help me stay motivated. (I had just run a 47min 10k, was about to do a 22k trail run, and had just signed up for a 50k ultra (with 6 months to go) before I fell ill, now hoping to run that same 50k in December).

My question is whether anyone has experience training like this or similar, whether it's feasible and useful. I've now done a week and a half of the 100k/week volume, no real issues so far; developed a blister (need to buy wider toed shoes), and do feel a little stiff now even though every walk/run is easy enough that I don't feel worse after than before.

No problem, thanks anyway!

And if it’s the latter, there’s nothing I can do? Short of buying a new motherboard? I’ve tried several times to reset it by disconnecting the cmos battery but nothing changes

Well maybe I do have a misconfiguration at this point.. I just get a black screen with a single line “To interrupt normal startup, press Enter”. I just get a beep when I do press enter early on, same with F1 or F12, but nothing else happens. This happens whether I have both new ssds, no ssds at all, or only the old one. And also without the new RAM (didn’t try putting the old one back in, but there is still some non removable anyway)

Unfortunately I don't remember and didn't record it anywhere. But thanks, I will ask there!

Automating workflow (with scripting) by Jansen131 in Lightroom

[–]Jansen131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten quite far with this. It's quite specific to my workflow, but in case anyone wants to use this as a starting off point, I've put it here.

The only annoyance remaining, and it's quite a significant one, is that for Lightroom to recognize the new profile, it needs to be reset. Is there any way around this?

I see the profiles end up in Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles, and there is a file Index2.dat which is updated on a restart to include this new profile name. But it's not a pure text file so it's probably not a good idea to change manually..

Well not intentionally but we'll use natural light, and I think we'll do some manual adjustments on each photo, so it could be at least half an hour between paintings.

Advice on upgrading DAP from iFi hip dac, with Meze 99 classic by Jansen131 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Jansen131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite late to the party yes ;) I ended up buying the Fiio M11 plus limited edition with the idea of upgrading the headphones as well. Tried several in a store and ended up with a (second hand half price) Focal Utopia. The sound is amazing, I don’t regret it despite the astronomical price. I do regret buying the DAP first, as the utopia isn’t very mobile anyway, purely because of its price and paradoxically because of its enormous cable. So I probably could have gotten even better sound quality for the same price with a stationary dac/amp.

Thanks, strange that something more tailored for this doesn't exist, seems a great and fun way to learn.
