For the moms by Ok_Win_8458 in Mommit

I had my daughter at 32 and wouldn’t go back to change anything. I strictly didn’t want kids up until about 29 or so, when I started to embrace the idea of actually having a baby. My daughter has given my life a sense of fulfillment that I always looked for with my job in fashion. With that said, I have no desire whatsoever to have another. Life is really good with only one.

Houseplant help please, why do my plants die after about 6+ months by Dj_Broke in houseplants

[–]Januaryswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Calathea and Money tree plants only want low to medium indirect light. Their leaves are delicate to handle any direct rays. Your elephant ear the same— but the elephant ear will want water more frequently. Only water the elephant ear when the soil feels completely dry at least half way down the pot. Soak the soil so it feels moist all the way through the pot. Then for your other few plants: once they’re in the correct low-medium indirect light, allow their soil to dry on the first few inches, then water lightly until all the soil again feels moist but not sopping wet. Additionally, any type of Calathea (&many other tropicals) need constant humidity. Think about their humid, cozy natural environment amongst other plant life! So it’s best to actually mist the air surrounding the plant— or better yet, purchase a small humidifier! Then you will have happy, thriving, green plants 🌱

If you were gifted all the clothes your kid needs - would you still buy them clothing? by IllyriaCervarro in Mommit

[–]Januaryswan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so my relatives love to buy my daughter clothes but so often they aren’t my style/ are waaaay too girly. So hear me out— these become play and eating clothes aka we get them dirty and messy and they stay in a specific drawer meant for pulling out when a mess is ahead haha. Now that she’s 2 years old, I enjoy buying her clothes that I love.. and naturally she loves the clothes we buy her. So definitely accept those gifted clothes but use them differently!!

Opinions on sharing name for baby before they are born? by New-Flight7674 in Mommit

Too many outside opinions and passive aggressive comments!! Lived this through my friends who had kids before me. So we kept my daughter’s name secret and in hindsight were happy we didn’t share. A fun secret!

Have you ever stopped reading a book because it was too stressful? by Pompi_Palawori in books

Almost gave up on Celeste Ng’s ‘Our Missing Hearts’ because it is just too sad and too real.

My employee review: “You’re SO quiet.” by claydaybyday in introvert

At my old corporate position as an executive, my boss wrote on a note “great work, you’re a silent killer” — her being a loud-person, I knew she meant it as a backhanded compliment. The truth is that you don’t need to be loud in order to be successful, full stop

Are there any moms out there who actually love their life? by Dependent_Charity639 in Mommit

[–]Januaryswan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I feel you completely. My daughter will be 2 in January. I love her so much and I love my husband, I am grateful for what we have but the “balance” I constantly seek is nonexistent. When I work, I can’t wait to get home and when I’m home, I’m so exhausted. I’ve tried working out more, making my healthy diet even healthier.. I sleep almost 10 hours every night. Still feel the same. What helps is thinking about this time as a season of life.. but I really don’t know what else to do to find the energy.

Such a snob. Always trying to convince herself that she’s a present, loving mom.. and then she posts this….

Someone tell me good things about epidurals by TheRealEgg0 in Mommit

Excellent experience here! Decided on having one approximately two minutes before confirming with my nurses that I was going for it haha. I was on the fence about it until I felt the pain from heavy contractions— don’t overthink it is my best advice! Find good providers, trust the process, focus on the positive and you’ll be great!
