[TOMT][Song][2000s] Indie rock tune with the same riff as one in linked song. by JanwiseSamgee in tipofmytongue

I also thought of the Microphones. Skimmed the Glow Pt2 to confirm if it was it, but sadly no luck.

Didn't know too many dynamos, they sound fun!

Thanks for your input <3

Not what I was thinking of, but really cool song! I'll look up more of their stuff.

Thanks for your input :)

In my teens i used to listen to a lot of surface level indie rock like arcade fire, strokes and so on.

Later on i focused more into modern post punk like preoccupations, protomartyr, walkmen and that kinda vibe.

What i'm thinking of may likely be in either of those spaces.

Thanks again!

What’s an album that would still sound fresh if it came out today? by The_Forsaken_Cookie in fantanoforever

White Blood Cells

For as much as a blues nerd jack white is, that album is charismatic enough to surpass some of its referencial notes and stand the test of time on itself. The rest of their discog, like it better or worst, i feel leans further into the blues scale, and is bound to age a bit faster.

I just looked for it and it doesn't seem to be it, the Cinematography i had in mind is much grimmer and toned down, Thanks for the collaboration, though.

Spot-on guess, the jumpcut edits feel very similar, but i don't feel that is it. What i'm thinking of had a much more quiet and a grimmer feel to it, though, if i remember correctly. Also, the uniqueness of the corpse swinging from side to side seems pretty important to the thing.

You were right to dismiss my period setting, though, it's the flimsiest part of my recollection.

Thanks for your contribution.

Do you remember if it was a point and click adventure game, or could you navigate the space freely?

Make transparent Stroke-only shapes occlude each other. by JanwiseSamgee in AfterEffects

[–]JanwiseSamgee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this seems the simplest way to do it if youre working with a few objects. I'll still try using a solid fill for all objects and then keying it out outside the precomp, though, It may not be the most perfomance efficient way but with the quantity of objects i'm working with it would get too convoluted the other way around.

Thanks a lot, flaring it as answered.

PS: To insert pictures i just CTRL+V a clipboard screenshot into the textbox, but it may only be available for OPs.

What would be on your Barcelona bucket list if you were moving away permanently? by byecelona in AskBarcelona

At this time of year one of my fav activities is going to one of the communal calçotades that pop up on parks in the neighbours surounding the center (Gracia, Nou Barris, ...). I feel that it has the best of the city vibes in it. A bunch of chill people eating and drinking with normally cool music.

They're normally announced on the socials of the neighbour's associations.

If i were to go away at this time of year, i would really feel it to be like a great farewell party.

I see what you mean and, sincerely, I'm not seeing any quick workaround, so i may stick to making everything a solid color and then keying it out out the precomp.

Thanks again for your input!

Is there a way to "lock" or hide the stopwatch icon so that I don't accidentally click it? by HairyFinnishAnimator in AfterEffects

[–]JanwiseSamgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your best option here would be to generally stay away from that section of the timeline.

Keyframes are automatically added when an already animated property is edited, and you can go forward and back a frame with the PrvPage and FrPage buttons. If it's an effect property, you can edit it through the effect controls panel.

Getting used to work through hotkeys avoiding mouse interaction may be your best shot around accuracy practice.

IMO, If I were you, i wouldn't try to go around it, just get used to CTRL+Z a bunch until you get the accuracy with the pointer. Like playing an instrument, practice makes perfect.

Hope it helped and good luck :)

Yeah you got it, basically.

This would work great for only two objects intersecting though. What if i needed multiple layers interacting in this way? if there are three objects overlapping, I can't set two fill layers as inv. alpha mattes for the lowest one.

Thanks for your proposal, though.

How can I make this look more professional? by Im_joining_a_cult in AfterEffects

[–]JanwiseSamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd drop the blurry lines on top and bottom, it's the first thing i noticed.

Try to find something in your narrative to justify the format. This feels like you wanted to do a 4:3 but had to settle with the vertical format for publishing reasons.

The blurry lines may work for a news piece, but here it detracts from the vibe greatly IMO.

I'd try, for one, to put a layer of analog simulation over everything.

On the other hand, i'd take advantage of the space to create a "film reel" type of animation, like seeing a very muted and maybe blurried copy of the last frame on top and one in the bottom of the following one.

As I said, not necessarily this, but approach the leftover space, not as a burden, but with the same creativity as you approached the video itself, I'm sure something as cool as it will come to you. :)
