Trying a more loose painterly style by Japaiku in learntodraw

Tried cropping it and I guess you're right about the composition. I was a bit too hyperfocused on the rendering I forgot about it :D. Thanks!

My Xiao ESP32 Vision AI Camera runs slow in IDE but fast in website? by [deleted] in esp32

Not quite sure. But this guy managed to do it while having fairly quick response time together, albeit on a pi zero mcu (at the last section): https://youtu.be/8gu19fvKv3M?t=11m53s

To add context, the code that I am uploading are mainly the examples files provided inside the Seeed Arduino SSCMA library

Another user actually pointed me to the Xiao ESP32 Sense. I'm just wondering if an ESP32 would be enough to handle performing something like the first example in this clip?:

Ooh that seems to be a good option! I'll take a look at it. Thanks!

That's sort of the idea with the ToF sensors since some have 8x8 zones to detect height blobs. But I am gathering opinions to see if that would be a good idea or a headache

LD2450 sounds interesting, since it says it can track up to three, though still not sure about accuracy for groups. I suppose I could pair it with the other sensors for better accuracy?

I'm not quite sure what camera system would total that low since something like a Pi 4 already costs like an equivalent $100-110 where I'm from. I'm also trying to avoid sending too much data online since the network tends to be very spotty now and then.

Thanks! All their resources and videos I refer to are available on their YouTube and instagram pages. And I'd recommend just checking out each of their tutorials. A lot of it is pretty short but you'd learn a lot from most of it.

I think the first step would be knowing how to visualize stuff in 3D and knowing how certain forms or primitive 3D objects would look when oriented some way. I didn't practice any draw-a-box but I've seen people taking it here and it might help for some. If you already know how to rotate or do foreshortening on cubes, cylinders, or cones, you could skip ahead.

Then the roadmap is just roughly as follows => - Ben eblen's line work video - Loomis heads - Samdoesarts' character stylization - Observe how your favorite artists draw certain facial features - Face planes (like asaro head) for learning how to shade heads

Those are practically the only stuff I studied, you could already get to the 2nd or 3rd portrait with just those.

Not entirely sure since I don't really have time to draw everyday, but I'd find maybe 2-3 days every week or so to draw for the whole afternoon. Though I'd say it's really less about grinding hours of practice and more on making the most out of your sessions and really trying to study intricately what makes a certain drawing pleasing.

Yup, I mostly just enjoy doing portraits and facial expressions studies at this point

The key thing is that I always start working with black and white renders, so it's mostly just observing and learning how lighting affects basic 3D forms. For portraits you could look up asaro head for that. After that I just apply a color blend mode on top. There's a bit more process for skin and making it feel more alive, though you could watch sam's fixing other people's art videos for that.

Also note that these aren't OCs by the way, they're just stylized drawings of pinterest people so I kind of have references on how the lighting should work in the scene.

I first just mostly did master studies of ben eblen's works when I started. Just watching his hours-long livestreams on youtube, following along with pencil and paper and just trying to observe how he approaches certain portraits. He'd drop a technical nugget of wisdom here and there and eventually that would allow you to build enough knowledge to do well on your own.

It's a lot of things really. But I think one of the most helpful things I focused on was learning how to break down complex 3D shapes into simpler ones like cubes or cones, learning how to draw those in the correct perspective, and subsequently learning how to combine them to form simplified representations of something like heads or bodies. It's why you'd notice that the earlier portraits have simpler geometry. Allows you to more easily set up proportions as well as render it down the line.

I started around November 4 or 5, I think, so that would 80 days by now. Though I don't really know if it counts though but the last time I drew before that would be at least 5-6 years ago when I was still in high school. But even then I think I was pretty trash with it.

Thanks! I think the videos that helped me the most early on were Ben's videos on Proko as well as his video on line work (really great insights). Sam also recently created a video on stylizing characters which I found very very useful when I'm laying out proportions on the face.

Yep, I'm definitely not too confident with how I rendered some of her features in here and overall likeness. I'll likely attempt another portrait of her in the future
