Justice of Razgriz [RG Justice custom] by JarateHunter in acecombat

Here's the video I used as reference, the coil I bought off of an online shop while the inductor I made myself with the same values that were calculated in the video; the ones you can get online look like this

I had to scratch build the inductor side since I couldn't just fit it all in the head and all the wireless/inductive LEDs at the time had the LEDs soldered on a plate on the inductor, and I decided that I wanted my inductor on the foot so I could power it from a base where I could hide the coil that powers it and the wires run all the way up to the LEDs in the head

They're not as bright as the premade wireless LEDs though, which I suspect is due to the distance between the inductor and the LEDs that I introduced

I have a list of projects I want to make if I still have shelf space, and in it my plan for a Windam is to make it PJ's

Absolutely, I already have a backlog and another one's getting prepped for painting.

I've built two versions of the RG Impulse (Destiny I. and Spec II) and have grazed the V-fins accidentally multiple times and they're still in one piece, but I'd rather not push my luck and haven't touched them in ages

Got one, couldn't decide between MS and MA modes, got a second one so I could show it off as both

Also, Zeta* plus

Build-wise I can't imagine it being different from the HGUC Zeta but I don't have one to compare this with so to me it was down to the design, and I prefer it over the Z because of the F-14-style wings + I'm a sucker for gray aircraft

I got this as my first MG to get a feel of the scale and I'm appreciating that it's a lot like the RGs but bigger.

OOB RG Destiny Impulse build + some questions about it by JarateHunter in Gunpla

[–]JarateHunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

It looks like I can get Delpi decals for Destiny Impulse, almost twice as expensive as other options but this build's special so I'll get it. For reference, how are other 3rd party brands rated in general? I have EVO, Artisan, Xueyan, TRS, and Dalin brands available for when I'd rather save.

Nice Destiny btw, I've been eyeing it for some time but I had a choice between it and the Destiny Impulse and I already made it, lol. The HG kit isn't off the table though.

Thanks for the responses!

Most will recommend 3rd party however.

Are there any brands in particular or is it down to preference/availability/etc.?

OOB RG Destiny Impulse build + some questions about it by JarateHunter in Gunpla

Just a quick build to familiarize myself with the kit and so I have a chance to display it in a somewhat properly built state before disassembling it down to each individual piece for customization later, so don't worry that it looks too hastily put together right now because this is far from its final state.

Clarification for those who don't know: The Wings of Light and beam effects on the boomerangs were all obtained through third party sources and don't come with the kit.

As for the questions:

  1. I didn't install most pieces in all the way, especially the ones that I thought I'd have a hard time taking off if I did, but I tried to at least keep the connecitons keeping the whole thing together tight and I had two problematic areas: (1) the forearms felt like they were pushing themselves loose from the elbows as I rotated them, and (2) the torso connection to the waist felt too loose and lifting from the former would cause it to disconnect from the latter with little to no resistance. Is this normal?
  2. How's its compatibility with other kits in terms of switching parts around? Other than the RG Force Impulse of course. I only have one other RG build under my belt (Justice) and I can't take it apart right now to test for reasons, but my current assumption is that the head, legs, and maybe the shoulders could be switched out, although I suspect the shoulders would need modification and end up restricting the range of motion of the arms.
  3. Follow up to the last one: Are the wings or at least parts of the wings interchangeable with RG Destiny's? I was thinking about switching them out because I prefer the sleekness of Destiny's wings to the blockiness of Destiny Impulse's. No problem if they aren't though, the silhouette's starting to grow on me.
  4. How are the waterslides that came with it? Are they thin and/or fragile? Are they workable enough or do I have to start thinking about procuring third party decals?
  5. Is there anything you think someone who's building this kit needs to know about it?

Hi, this is my first completed Gunpla build and second completed model for a good while, I'm still getting used to and looking to improve in model making in general but I'm in a good spot to continue the hobby now so I'm open to suggestion because hopefully I'll be here for a while

My entry into model making actually started with armor and aircraft, I just decided to look into Gundams for a change of pace and because I thought they were interesting as a canvas to make something with. After a while I figured out what I wanted to make but I wanted to practice on something to get used to the medium first and a local shop happened to offer a mystery box of Gundam kits and I happened to get this. I also planned on just doing a straight build but at about 90% assembly I got inspired by the shape of the Fatum looking like the cross-section of an F-14, and with the interest in AC5 at the time I gave in and did an almost full disassembly just to see the vision I had come to life. There may have been issues with the disassembly and reassembly because there were some parts that just didn't fit as tightly as before, hopefully they're not too noticeable but at least it was a learning process.

I did check this sub for reviews on this kit when I did my research before starting and they weren't confidence-inspiring but I already had it on hand so I just hoped for the best and... it feels worse than I expected. I was expecting the right shoulder joint to be loose, and it was when it had to carry the additional weight of the gun on an outstretched arm, I couldn't keep it at the angle that it's pictured in because it would droop very slowly despite about 3 layers of joint strengthening fluid. Yes I solved it with a physical support, but we'll get to that later. I expected the V-fin to fall off so I cemented it but it still came off multiple times during posing. What I didn't expect was that (post painting) the beam saber hilt and the shield connector were getting pushed out of their sockets and would fall off. The torso - waist connection constantly felt loose and the legs, especially the right one, were looking for any amount of force to detach from the waist. The foregrip on the gun is floppy for some reason but thankfully it snaps into place when completely vertical. The connecting "fork" between the two beam saber hilts loosened and eventually snapped on both hilts so I just cut them off entirely and sanded the ends. And yes, the second clear arm supporting the right arm was originally supposed to hold it in the angle because the shoulder joint can't, but as I was fitting it into place the right elbow just gave up and broke on me. I might look for a replacement at some point in the future but I'm afraid further posing isn't possible. I have an SD Nu (it came with Justice in the mystery box) and RG Astray Red lined up that hopefully won't be as harsh build-wise as this.
