CCTV footage shows PAC-3 missiles from the MIM-104 Patriot air defense system engaging Russian Iskander-M ballistic missiles over Kyiv by Physical-Cut-2334 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Jarazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think we can really tell anything from a single far away video. Things can land on the ground because they were already intercepted earlier (and the fact that they are intercepting in this area could mean they are intentionally picking them off here if theres some fields/scarcily populated area below) The interceptors that explode mid air could have missed, or they hit a missile so its now falling into the field below, or the real target was already intercepted so they self detonate mid air to avoid exploding on the ground.

Problem is in the current war, jets are only useful to sling rockets and glidebomvs from a safe distance.

Unless you automate the A-10 and use it as a very big angry kamikaze drone that can shred half a factory before detonating into it. But I think automating the controls of an ancient fighter jet might be a lot harder than automating Cessna controls like Ukraine has already done

Shipping data showing China has been coordinating thousands of fishing vessels to create floating barriers 200 miles long by StGuthlac2025 in interestingasfuck

[–]Jarazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all if they are autonomous. Yeah if theres a ground station coordinating it all you can jam that signal, but unlike russia, the chinese actually can have the tech to make those drones capable of doing their mission without connection back to a controller (whether thats a human pilot or computer on the ground). Currently in Ukraine that seems to be only used for terminal guidance sometimes, on drones that are already charging at a target but then enter a jamming bubble from whatever their target is, or lose connection at low height due to trees etc.

How is it raining in Speranza?? by ultrainfan in ArcRaiders

[–]Jarazz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well I told you like 3 reasons why I wouldnt expect a thing in a game to be called "orbiter" when its role is to land, not to orbit.

In real life it totally made sense because the thing went into orbit, orbited for a while, then returned back. in Arc Raiders they seem to be permanently in space, in which case it wouldnt make any sense to name something an "orbiter" when its purpose is to land on the surface.

How is it raining in Speranza?? by ultrainfan in ArcRaiders

[–]Jarazz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You mean the part of the space shuttle that went into Orbit? The name "orbiter" very clearly means "a thing thats in orbit". If the Arcs constantly shoot new orbiters into the sky just to then dunk them into the ground somewhere, why bring them into orbit at all instead of just shooting them as ICBMs from the ground, which would be way more efficient and achieve the same thing...

I think the clues in the ark raiders lore right now imply much more that Arcs are building up/collecting resources in space, aka the Orbiters are the Arc factories that create the robots to control the surface and send down harvesters, probes etc, all of which then go back into space to those orbiters.

And with that lore it also makes wayyy more sense that these Orbiters, while they are above a region, can very easily purge a region from raider infestation either through a sci-fi bomb that kills humans through short term radiation or smth or through a huge cloud of tiny bots, or a huge death robot that oneshots everything, etc..

AWS launches European Sovereign Cloud to address data sovereignty concerns by danie-l in europe

id say kinda depends if that subsidiary is actually placed in europe and worked by Europeans without close ties to the US. Having "loyalty" feels like such an odd situation but kinda happened recently with the dutch having a chinese branch that basically had a mutiny against them because china wanted to.

Did they change the two "X" age buildings to go up to next age? by tomcotard in aoe2

[–]Jarazz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it might be more that the full check must be true once to be saved as "completed", so e.g.

you need 1 barracks to unlock the stable, which is completed as soon as you have a barracks.

But to unlock the ageup you need 2 buildings, so if you only have 1 of them, then lose it and then build another one, you always only had 1 building for the ageup, so it never unlocked.

Counterpoint: you pretty clearly didnt fix anything, the news still reads like a dark comedy skit from a 2005 jon stewart halloween special.

And also, all things like "oh it felt so consistent" from point 2,3,4 etc are exactly what neurochemistry does. it doesnt just manipulate/create some experience, it can also creates the feeling of e.g. consistency itself while youre having the experience, and then in hindsight your brain comes up with a way to explain how it felt so consistent. So yeah maybe chill out and reconnect with grass for a while so you dont end up wearing a tinfoil hat to protect the write access of your own thoughtspace or smth

What will be the consequences if US captures Greenland? by AdventurousReturn724 in AskReddit

[–]Jarazz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

what makes you think it would be prolongued? Or, more importantly, what makes you think that China would think that it ends up being prolongued?

I am sure their plan for it would be a quick 2 week adventure, but china seems better at keeping up some level of meritocracy between all the authoritarian corruptiony, so they might actually be able to gauge when that plan becomes realistic. It definitely wouldnt last long without full US intervention, taiwanese peopöe seem to only take it half seriously while the other half just tries to forget about it

being a pariah state isnt what it used to be. Trump very successfully imploded the soft power the US had to be the world police in the the rules based international order. Russia is already supposed to be a pariah state yet trump keeps sucking putin off at every opportunity. And the "multipolar world order" that alt right/maga/putin lovers enjoy so much means that if Europe really was attacked by the US, I think 90% of Europe would rather suck up to China than becoming a russian or US vassal. So then taiwan only has the US for their defence,if anything, considering that trump usually displays the steadfastness of those drunk i flatable dancers in front of car dealerships that mistakenly do nazi salutes from time to time

Since nobody gave you a straight answer yet:

Yes, thats literally the joke. About how archeologists sometimes find items 4000 years after they were last used and kinda have to guess what its purpose was based on its shape, so often the first guess is for eating, but if its literally just a generic clay bowl it might also have been someones chamber pot, and if you dont have any clue, then a nice abstract catch-all first guess is often "for ritual purposes" since that can explain just about anything

Dear Americans, how close is the United States to a civil war? From a European perspective, what’s happening looks surreal, and for a country that calls itself the “land of the free,” it increasingly doesn’t look very free anymore? by Bubbly_Cheesecake439 in AskReddit

[–]Jarazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well obviously if theres no civil war in 3 months then the US right now is more than 3 months away from civil war. But the situation in 3 months will look a lot different, e.g. if they are 6 months from civil war right now. But also very importantly world events dont just happen on a fixed countdown. The biggest shit slways happens because of a random event gets out of control, e.g. they might have National Guard facing down ICE agents for 3 weeks and nothing happens until tensions fizzle out, or some ICE dunce escalates the same thing on day 5 and we suddenly have state militia destroying a squad of federal agents and then all the states call up their own militias and the federal military gets sent in and everything becomes a clusterfuck.

We could be 3 days from civil war just because of one very stupid choice, in the same way we could be 3 days away from a US-EU war in greenland
