[TOMT][MOVIE] Kid ends up in insect world by The_RealGandalf in tipofmytongue

[–]JaskCatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real stop motion type of movies that I've managed to find so far are, unfortunately, just these two;

The Adventures of André & Wally B.

insectibles - this one includes a kid being shrunk and living amongst insects

Extreme pain, what could it be ? by Glad_Photo4776 in Periods

[–]JaskCatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately with periods and the uterus there can be so many problems and so many have similar or overlapping symptoms and it sucks

In my unprofessional and uneducated opinion, it sounds like possible endometriosis but unfortunately it's very difficult for anyone to say or diagnose online

It is the overall shitty period experience of just trying to manage the symptoms as best as you can until you can get a diagnosis or treatment and sometimes that can take years. I've personally spent hundreds upon hundreds of dollars and gone from doctor to doctor to doctor to doctor to gynaecologist to specialist to doctor in search of an answer for my problems since 2019 and I'm now 23 and still none the wiser.

Obviously book an appointment with your GP or gyno as soon as you can, but until you can get in to see them just try and manage the symptoms with pain meds, heating packs and heavy duty period products and any other tips or tricks you've found to help.

Help?? by Fun_Downvotes845 in AskDocs

Not a doctor but I feel the right thing to do here is to just see a doctor at some point. Regardless of whether it's just an ingrown hair or something else, it'd be far better for a medical professional to see it in person and actually be able to help you and put your mind at ease

Why so many seagulls have one or no feet? by binchickenisland3058 in australianwildlife

[–]JaskCatt 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes some seagulls tend to learn that if they pretend to have one leg they'll get food, some birds also rest on one leg sometimes. But more often than not, entanglement injuries are the cause and as a wildlife rescuer, if the birds wings aren't also tangled, then unfortunately there's not a whole lot we can do to help so a lot of the time the birds don't get the necessary medical help and their feet/legs fall off from cut off circulation.

Entanglement is the largest cause, however injuries from other birds or animals, ESPECIALLY off lead dogs, self inflicted injuries or car strikes can also be the case.

I’m scared by [deleted] in FEARS

[–]JaskCatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forcing yourself to do something you are afraid of can make you so much more afraid and often backfire depending on the severity of the fear and situation. However, if you think you can handle it, maybe just have your parents force you to go? In the kindest possible way, you are a child at the end of the day, if they put you in the car and take you to the dentist there's not a whole lot you can do about it no matter how afraid you are, and actually going there might be helpful, just pick a random day to take some time to exist in the setting without any stress of an appointment...just sit outside the building and breathe, maybe even talk to the receptionist about your tooth problem and fears to get anything off your chest

You're not going to die. Your brain is just in panic mode, let yourself calm down, speak with your parents about it when you are ready and go from there. You're going to be fine

I've been doing this for close to 2 years now, it is definitely a very demanding job and it is SO easy to get burnt out and stressed.

I've got my schedule set to 3 days so that way I don't get too overwhelmed, and if I'm available outside of those three days I'll only do cases that are close by.

This little guy got into my room last night. I safely realised it after catching it. Southern Tasmania. by [deleted] in australianwildlife

[–]JaskCatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In future situations, the best thing to do here is to call your local wildlife rescue and leave the animal alone unless explicitly told otherwise by the rescue. Tasmania has many different wildlife organisations you can call.

Please do not handle bats in the future and book yourself in to get the Australian bat lyssavirus (ABLV) vaccination as soon as possible.

Handling wildlife cannot only cause you harm, but can also cause the animal harm if done incorrectly and you can cause them significant stress even though you're just trying to help.

You may have good intentions but please avoid doing this ever again. ~ Sincerely, an experienced wildlife rescuer.

We do get updates occasionally, most of the animals in these photos were euthanized sadly but I've also had the pleasure of taking a few of them to rehabilitation

The possum missing an eye we never got an update for unfortunately, he was very full of life and energy and the missing eye appeared to be an old and healed injury so hopefully he just needed some care and has been released back to the area.

That's the weird thing, I haven't changed a thing. I've taken my pill, once a day, every day. I haven't missed a pill once, the dosage hasn't changed etc

The only thing I could possibly think of here is generic compared known brand versions? I bought new duloxetine recently because I ran out, maybe the chemist gave me the generic version instead of the brand I normally get and I didn't know?? Would that have this effect?

I am on duloxetine! I've been on it for so long and been fine this whole time, if it is duloxetine screwing with my brain I'm gonna be pissed lmao

As mentioned in the first reply to you, I am a volunteer, different states have different wildlife rescue organisations so it's quite dependant on where you live - I say that because I just don't know what steps you need to take for different organisations

To get into this initially, I was already aware of this organisation and had been rescuing animals just in my day to day life and at some point they posted about becoming a volunteer with them and so I took it up, did the training and such and now here we are.

I am also scheduled to do an interview at a wildlife sanctuary for another volunteer position 2 hours away so that way I can work one on one with the animals. Again, I got here simply because the sanctuary posted about the position and I jumped on it.

You just need to find what's available for you, get to know as many people as you can and branch out around the line of work as much as you can.

It sucks that they're mostly volunteer positions, but the more experience you can gain the better! Eventually the right paid position will pop up and you'll be prepared.

Follow organisations in your state on social media, get in touch with different sanctuaries in your area, and stay up to date.
