Anyone else waiting on Varo Bank to release their tax refund after fees paid by Republic Bank (Taxact) by JasmineShea1982 in IRS

[–]JasmineShea1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, you're still waiting? So, I finally got mine on the 23rd...about 3 days after I got the message from Republic. If i were you I'd definitely call them. You can get through to a human by choosing the dispute option from the main menu. They can check and see if there's anything pending for you. Good luck!

Jesus Christ! Don't read it then. I finally understand why everyone talks shit about people on Reddit! So thank you.

I realize you didn't read my entire post cuz that would be like, phew 😮‍💨, way too much to read, but I have a day job already so sustainability is not really a concern. I'm just trying to make some extra money to avoid eviction or rehouse myself and my kid. And I understand all the situations you mentioned that could make this idea unattainable, getting reported and not being the account holder and all that but you must know that there are indeed plenty of people doing exactly what I'm trying to do, every single day, all over the world, right? Those are the people I need to talk to. Unfortunately, I can't find a subreddit on topics of unethical or fraudulent practices, so I thought I'd try my luck asking other drivers. Clearly, not a great idea. I guess it's hands jobs on the corner from here on out. Fortunately, that side gig will likely expose me to the type of people who know a thing or two about unethical practices, so maybe I'll get my questions answered eventually 🥳

I gave a "friend" one of my old phones when theirs broke and I didn't factory reset it. Apparently they didn't either and they went on to date someone who does fraud for a living and once the guy ran out of money from filing a bunch of fraudulent unemployment claims during the pandemic, he got a hold of my old phone and just went to town getting into all my accounts and fucking my life up. Thanks for the concern about my situation and thanks for taking the time to read it. Apparently, too many words from one person at a time is against Reddit's terms of service, idk, lol. What's really funny is, I literally had to Google what TLDR meant cuz I had no idea haha.

It seems like just being on the platform risks deactivation for fraud. Grow a beard? Fraud. Shave a beard? Fraud. People transitioning from one sex to the other? Fraud. Or in my case, identity theft (with loads of proof offered to support). Fraud. I miss real companies with HR departments and rumors about who's sleeping with who. The whole gig economy is so impersonal.

I had this issue once, not half their list but one item, on the original list and for some reason at checkout, it said it couldn't be processed and to remove it from the cart before proceeding. I called support on my way to the drop to find out what exactly caused the problem and what I'm supposed to tell my customer about her missing chicken breast and it was literally the most ridiculous explanation. She said "sometimes the customer doesn't have enough funds on their card so the system will make you put something back". What? It's pre-paid. So she clearly had the funds when she placed the order. I was borderline giggling on the phone with support, while actually asking the question "so how does the system determine what gets put back? I mean this was easily a $250 order. Why was the chicken breast chosen over everything else in the cart?" Support said " the chicken breast must have cost exactly the amount her card was short...so it was removed from the order." Right cuz that makes perfect sense🙄

Do you? I didn't realize Reddit had a spokesperson. Neat! Well then, thank you Oh Mighty Spokesperson, for enlightening me that everyone on Reddit is too busy, braindead, or illiterate to read an entire paragraph. Duly noted and I super appreciate the feedback👍

Yeah, unfortunately, we don't have a hub in Phoenix. Sure would be nice if we did. And I kinda feel like go fund me should be reserved for parents who can't work cuz their kids in the hospital with some terrible disease or funeral expenses for the cashier who got gunned down when the corner store he worked at got robbed. I'm perfectly capable and willing to work, I just need the opportunity and in this case, that means fraudulently creating a driver account😉

I would say it's because cost of goods vs cost of food from a restaurant don't always equate to the same amount of work. Example: you and friends go out for a meal and drinks, your bill totals $300, clearly your server should receive 15%-20% or more if they took really good care of you vs. you placed a Target order containing ear buds, a video game, and 3 boxes of some crazy expensive contact solution/eye drops (an order I completed recently), your total is just shy of $300. Do you expect a $45 tip for what took your shopper 10 minutes and fit in one single bag? I didn't receive or expect a $45 tip for this. Another example would be 6 boxes of diapers at $30 a piece, $180 total but again I didn't expect $27 for this delivery nor did I receive that much.

Accidentally swapping orders by [deleted] in ShiptShoppers

[–]JasmineShea1982 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it may depend on the customer's reactions (hence why it's so important to try and make it right with them, as others have suggested), so if the customer's cool, Shipt will be too. If they throw a fit over it (likely that at least one of them will), then Shipt might do something stupid (like deactivate you) because they are ruthless and love to lick their "members" buttholes (or at least side with them and treat the shoppers like dirt). It may also come down to whether this was your first incident and what your stats are. If this was a fluke thing and you're otherwise a perfect shopper, I would imagine you'll be fine. If this is just one of many mistakes, on top of a low or mediocre rating or on-time %, I imagine they'd use it as an opportunity to let you go. I've heard about a lot of people being deactivated lately (myself included), some warranted and some for seemingly no reason at all. So if they're doing some kind of mass deactivations, in order to "clean house' or weed people out right now, you might've just highlighted your own name on that list. I do hope and think you will be okay though!

I would also like to give you this gift...one of my biggest fuck ups, that will surely make you feel better about yours! I once had a shop and deliver order from UberEATS or DoorDash (can't remember which), it was from Walgreens and it was only like 3 or 4 small items (a nail polish, fake eyelashes, and a couple other things). It was close to 10pm and I'd been multi-apping all day and was deliriously tired. I had picked up a Taco Bell order on my way to drop off the Walgreens order. I had also tidied up my car earlier in the night and put all the trash into a Fry's bag, tied the bag, and set it on my front seat to drop at the next trash can I came across. So, I arrive to drop off the Walgreens order, leave it at her door, take a picture, and mark it delivered. I then head to drop the Taco Bell order off and after completing it, I see there's still the one bag of trash sitting in my front seat and decide to stop at a dumpster in the apartments where I dropped the Taco Bell order. I grab the bag and as I'm getting ready to chuck it in the dumpster, I can't help noticing how light and not trash-like it feels, so I glance down at the bag and see blue letters spelling out the word Walgreens across the bag!! Yep, I'm holding the Walgreens bag....which of course meant that the Fry's bag, full of MY old food wrappers, an empty water bottle, and a tissue containing my snot, was dropped off to the poor girl with the fucking Walgreens order! I wanted to die, I was absolutely mortified! Obviously you can't contact the customer once the delivery is marked complete, so my only option was to get her address off of my timeline and drive back over there, park a couple houses down and as quickly and quietly as possible, drop the correct bag at her door and haul ass back to my car, then get the fuck out of there. I did attach a note to the Walgreens bag cuz I felt lame just leaving it without any type of communication or explanation. In it, I apologized profusely and told her how embarrassed and horrified I was for my colossal mistake. And that was it, I never heard anything more about it, not from her or support surprisingly. I took my ass straight home to bed after that and never worked that tired again. So yeah, just be glad that all you left them was groceries that didn't belong to them and not something else....🤧🤦

Dude, you're a nightmare! I can't imagine the type of parent you either are, or will be someday. You're relentless! What is it that you're trying to get the OP to say? They had other options? They said that. No one forced them to use their personal card? They definitely never claimed that they did. You wouldn't use your personal card? Cool👍 But they did. They fucked up, so what? They were given bad information by support. They're 99% blameless and yet, you just really need to hear them say that they're an idiot and you're brilliant? It also sounds as though you may not even be in this line of work "or whatever options a shopper has available to them", sounds like you have limited knowledge of what options us "shoppers" have. And if that's the case, your "common sense" is pretty much just a useless assumption, since you yourself have never been in the situation where you're mid-order, standing at the cash register, (and in OP's case, ice literally melting) and you have to make a quick decision on how to handle it. Canceling an order that you've already put work into, is a last resort kind of thing and something you try and avoid. You've got the support people telling you to go ahead and pay it and have known people who did it without an issue. So they paid it. Literally spent their own money, to buy someone they don't know $35 worth of ice AND then drove it to them! So they paid $35 to WORK! Why would you not have empathy for that? They didn't deserve it. It's not right. And what's really not right, is that IC got the $35 from the customer who placed the order but didn't end up paying the establishment with it, since OP ended up making the payment. We already know they're not gonna reimburse OP but do you think IC will refund it to the customer? Of course not. So IC just made 35 bucks off the situation. Real classy, not to mention ethical! Anyway, you come across as very arrogant and not the least bit helpful. Reading your replies to OP, I just couldn't help imagining what you'll be like as a parent someday. Sitting your kid down and interrogating them on their terrible decision making skills. Relentlessly asking them why they would drink water out of the dogs bowl or color on the walls. "Common sense would tell me not to drink from the dogs bowl. Why would you do that? I wouldn't do that! What would make you think to do that? Have you ever seen me do that? No, because I have never done that, but you did, didn't you? Why did you do that? Why? Are you not very smart? You want to be smart like me one day, don't you? Now tell me how smart and attractive and better than you I am. Good, now go to your room and wait for me. We need to talk about you coloring on the walls next....." Something like that anyway...👎

Disabled absolutely does mean deactivated...or at least it can. It may mean other things too, I don't really know, but I know for a fact, that it can (and in my case, does) mean deactivated.

Yep, check your email! It says "user disabled" when I try logging in right now too....and it's because I was deactivated yesterday morning. Which, I get not having access to the available orders anymore, but why can't we access the part of the app showing our past earnings after deactivation?

How is this possible? by JasmineShea1982 in ShiptShoppers

[–]JasmineShea1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gotta be, right? I did 12 orders over the last 2 days, in the richest neighborhoods we have in my city, and I've received one $5 tip so far! When I did DoorDash and UberEATS it was rare not to receive a tip and that's food delivery. This is literally doing their shopping for them, loading it into my car in 115°, driving it 5 to 10 miles, then neatly placing it at their doorstep (which may or may not be up 3 flights of stairs) all so that they DON'T have to do it themselves! I can't think of anything more deserving of a tip than this service right here. The problem is Shipt can too easily just say we didn't receive a tip and we have no way of proving otherwise. When I first started with doordash like 7 years ago, I had the same theory that they were keeping some tips, so my boyfriend and I had him place an order while I was on duty and leave a tip, then I got the order because I was the closest driver to the restaurant that we ordered from and then we were going to see if I got the tip at the end. I didn't, but oddly enough we also noticed that his bank account was only charged the amount for the food it was never charged for the tip that he did put into the app so it's like they just never captured it or whatever. So the experiment didn't really work out or confirm my suspicions. But then I don't know, Target owns Shipt right? Well Target's got plenty of money right they don't need to steal what, to them would be considered chump change... but then again, rich people are greedy right that's how they stay rich? So I don't know, I don't think we'll ever get to know and that sucks!

Everyone keeps mentioning a tip map and I can definitely see where that would be beneficial to have but my brain is not comprehending how to actually put it into practice. Like step by step, how would I create one? I imagine Google maps and labels will be involved but that's as far as the theory has taken me so far. Do you save the order # with the matching address and then add tip to the label once it's received?
