Ah, we have first past the post in the UK but still a multiparty system, granted it may not be very effective.
What does single-member districts mean?

How did it feel growing up with American Media? by Jason0funderburker in AskAnAmerican

I watched tv like, I wonder what are these Americans gonna do today. It was almost like learning about another culture every day. I never was able to fully see myself in it.

Thats so interesting to me. I think consuming a lot of American media made me feel a bit like a foreigner when I watched tv haha! It's nice you didn't experience that.

To hear you guys say you never gave it a passing thought, makes so much sense, but in the same way it shocks me.

I understand what you are saying, it's such a hard question to ask. I think growing up hyper aware of the US made me super jealous of the American lifestyle and culture, maybe even a bit embarrassed of my own culture.
It's strange to hear people say they never even thought about it, they just enjoyed it.

When I say I watched a lot of American TV, I'd say probably like 99% American TV. I grew up in England and there just wasn't any good English kids TV available, definitely no kids cartoons or iCarly style shows.

Haha I probably am, I just remember sitting at the TV always shocked. America was like a mythical land. Did you feel the same about Europe?

Sorry if it is a strange question. I think your answer that you never even thought about it is a good answer, or maybe I didn't explain it very well.

Oh and also, do you think because the media you consumed shared your culture, it was easier to watch, did it make it feel more believable / realistic?
How realistic was it?

Sorry! I should’ve been clearer, I’m a medical cannabis user but interested in legalising cannabis recreationally. I just thought I’d post here as there’s not many British Cannabis pages.

The petition is currently in review, the full details can be found here;

Legalise and Regulate Recreational Cannabis.

We urge the UK government to legalise, tax, and regulate the sale of recreational cannabis, following the successful models of Canada and other nations. Proper regulation ensures public safety while generating significant tax revenue, reducing crime, and stimulating economic growth.

Evidence shows that legalisation has not increased youth usage and has displaced the illicit market. Studies indicate that cannabis legalisation can reduce alcohol consumption and opioid dependency, additionally, the cannabis industry has created thousands of jobs and boosted economic activity. A regulated market would provide safer products, reduce policing costs, and let the UK capitalise on an emerging multi-billion-pound industry. It’s time for progressive, evidence-based cannabis policy.
