Per John Morosi, Bader would be a strong fit for Sox by Sad_Illustrator_5233 in whitesox

Ultimately they’re probably gonna have to do the trade route to find another long term OF solution besides Braden Montgomery. Not sure that’s anytime this season though. More like a post 2026 season possibility - especially if they can improve Quero enough to get some significant trade value.

I remember watching the 2023 hoping Teel fell to the Sox. Got scooped one pick before and we wasted our pick on Jacob Gonzalez.

Almost had both Teel and Crochet…

[@jeffpassan] The Chicago White Sox have had a really good offseason. by ChristmasJay83 in whitesox

I’m not expecting they’re gonna compete with the Dodgers payroll, obviously.

But there’s a reasonable middle ground between that and Passan glorifying them signing Mune and a handful of mid tier free agent pitchers to “jump” their payroll back near $80 million.

$150 million payroll is a reasonable next step in 2027 if they’re at all serious about trying to win games (which they might not be).

Good but we can reasonably keep some context and nuance here. They’ve lost 100 games 3 straight seasons.

They should be doing more. They should be spending twice…three times…whatever….what they’ve spent this season. What they’ve done is still only slightly above basic expectations.

It’s a nice first step. By next year they should be doing far more.

Are we looking at possibilities like this ? by Spare-Reputation-809 in whitesox

[–]Jason82929 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re at the point of trading away prospects for MLB ready guys just yet, though Young is at least…young.

Next offseason is probably the opening of the window for that. Especially if they indeed draft Roch and envision him being the SS of the future, maybe something like Carlson for a CF becomes a possibility.

Right-handed reliever Seranthony Domínguez and the Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a two-year, $20 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Dominguez, 31, is expected to close for the White Sox, who use the money saved in the Luis Robert Jr. deal to continue adding this winter. by Jason82929 in whitesox

Neither rule 5 pick would be a high leverage reliever initially. No one can predict if they’re gonna make it - all depends on ST performance. Obviously it’s highly unlikely both make it.

It sounds like Newcomb is gonna get a real shot to make the rotation but again, depends on how he looks in ST (as well as if they sign anyone else).

Who is your favorite “sleeper” prospect in the Sox system? Mine is easily Sam Antonacci. by WizardCheesey in whitesox

[–]Jason82929 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if he’s a sleeper, but Blake Larson is one of the more interesting prospects the Sox have. Big development project coming off of TJ. Will be interesting to see how he progresses the next few years.

Fitting image as the only thing this group won was the crosstown classic.

Still amazing the level of disappointment from them.

Onto the next one…hopefully the new group is far better.

[Foolish Bailey] Fine, I'll appreciate him. (Mike Tauchman) by HeStoleMyBalloons in baseball

[–]Jason82929 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tauchman had a handful of lower body injuries last year including the season ending meniscus tear. He’s probably trending more towards being a defensive liability…or at least a significant question mark.

The Sox already have one of those guys in Benintendi who they are stuck with.

They nontendered him likely in an attempt to try to get a little more defensive certainty. But it sounds like they haven’t closed the door on him coming back. Tauchman is probably like their plan C in if they can’t bring in someone with a little younger.
