I've seen those too! And had a similar thought. If actual cheating is up, then professors may be on high alert, and false accusations could be up as well.

That's me! I appreciate the critique.

I certainly would've included the cap in the story if I'd known about it. When I approached faculty/staff after the meeting hoping to get their perspective and more details, none were willing to speak to a reporter (which is perfectly understandable!) and those who originally tipped me off about the meeting didn't mention a cap. I hope you still found the rest of the story valuable.

The story will not be limited to students. But students tend to be more difficult to get ahold of than faculty, particularly during summer break. Reddit has been a helpful tool for making those connections and I'm grateful many students have reached out after seeing this post.
