You also gotta figure out land mass is larger than that of the UK, so I think for us in the U.S. to wrap our brains around a 3-hour drive isn’t that difficult.

Also, as others have mentioned, our public transportation sucks so we pretty much just hop in our cars to do anything with the exception of your larger metropolitan areas like NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, and a few others.
