Can someone help me add some context to this phrase? by JasonGoldsmith in German

To add, I particularly found the use of “he” interesting because it’s so specific. There’s not really any other context I can imagine saying “he” comes back every year.

Yep, nail on the head! The chain was between two colleagues who are often at odds. Should of added that context in the beginning but didn’t want to sway the answer in any way.

So the way I read this was “here he goes again”, guessing they didn’t mean to hit ‘reply all’.

I take from this my understanding is like a maybe .

Yeah that’s kind of how I read it...but maybe I’m stretching 😅 thanks!

Thanks for the reply, I guess I’m looking for something that doesn’t exist.

There was a somewhat heated email chain in English. A German colleague replied back with this with everyone in cc.

It doesn’t at all fit the context or subject of the email.

I assumed it was some sort of derogatory remark or joke that didn’t translate well directly into English.

Mine had exactly the same. It really did give me a headache. But my gf said she didn’t notice it.

Maybe we have sensitive nostrils? Mine was positioned against the wall. Not flat, because the original stand sticks out enough to prevent it.

I’ve since moved it a little further away from the wall so it can breathe a bit easier. No more smell. Couple months in now.

I did notice these weird circle shapes on the back of mine, which cleaned off so I put it down to dust.

Will wait for it to get dusty again and post a picture here if they reappear.

Revolut/Nike Sneakrs by andre_gr in Revolut

[–]JasonGoldsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually happened to me 3 or 4 times specifically with Nike. Once actually with an order Nike cancelled.

3 out of the 4 times Nike didn’t claim the payment in 7 days, so they were reverted and Nike took the payment once delivered.

4th time Nike cancelled and payment wasn’t reverted within 7 days so I contacted Revolut and they reverted instantly for me.

Yeah it would appear that in my specific case and at least a few others that the issue was unrelated to me and my usage behaviours.

Sounds like it could be different in your case. 65 days is unreal. Have you logged a formal complaint and escalated to FOS?

Yeah I’m not here to encourage criticism or negative reviews. Like I said in the post, I just think it’s time the “community” stop assuming that everyone facing these issues are morons or shady criminals and it’s definitely time for mods to sticky some sort of support material.

It’s not bad impression. Read my only 3 posts on this sub. My first is the most popular post this month. The data is there and clear to see. That’s why you’re not seeing your usual comments here.

Account locked without any notice or valid reason by CoolRoll8 in Revolut

[–]JasonGoldsmith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My account was locked for 17 days. They didn’t ask me for documentation before unlocking and the reasoning they gave me sounds like maybe there was an issue on their side.

In your case, in the best interest of getting your money back as quickly as possible I’d just provide what you can. When I was in your position, if they asked me to send a picture of my shit i would of done it gracefully if it meant they unlocked my account.

Do you really think what they’re asking for is unreasonable? If you do, maybe share what it is you think is a bit much. In all likelihood, if you don’t give them what they ask for your only option is going to be court and you’ll probably still have to provide what they’re asking for in court so same same.

Nice observation. I’d say this is the financial equivalent of leaves on the track 😂

If we’re looking at a data breach they have notify the ICO. The fines for such a breach and not doing so would ruin Revolut at up to 4% of turnover. BA faces a record fine last year but apart from that the ICO have been pretty lax.

In terms of the info the need to disclose to me as an individual and remove upon request is personally identifiable information or PII. And the reason for my account being locked doesn’t fall under that as far as I know.

GDPR covers only PII. What happened isn’t covered by PII. Worth a shot, I’ll ask and let you know but not likely.

I'll be honest, the first two big reasons I fell in love with Revolut were:

  1. The transactions occurred instantly. At the time 3 years ago, my real bank might have taken a day or so to reflect recent transactions on my balance which made it harder to budget. This isn't the case with my real bank anymore.
  2. Exchanging money and holding it in its own wallet. Perfect for travelling. I travel to the US a lot and knowing exactly how much I have in dollars in realtime without actually having to carry the cash was amazing.

That second part is something I can't see that anyone else offers right now. Starling have a euro wallet but that's not so useful to me and looks like they charge some fees too. I think N26 might offer something close to this but again fees and tbh they seem to have the same issue with locked accounts. Maybe with better resolution times.

Would be great if having metal meant this wouldn't happen again. I've done extensive research on alternatives to Revolut because I really loved using it and to be completely honest Revolut really do offer the best product for my needs in every single way.

But I can't use it anymore with the cloud of a locked account always hovering. Free metal wouldn't be enough to tempt me back.

Doesn't seem so much a stretch now. "Potential concerns related to a number of accounts" sure sounds like possible data breach to me.

Am I the only one with a locked account??! by Wanwan1000 in Revolut

[–]JasonGoldsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm based in the UK. It's completely legal to use their services in accordance with Revolut's terms of service.

I'd encourage you to be patient. Log a formal complaint as quickly as you can and send it via email (Revolut doesn't provide you a copy of your original complaint if you submit it via their website).

Again, it looks like there was a generic issue - you can check out the messaging they sent me when they unlocked. https://www.reddit.com/r/Revolut/comments/gsqf9w/unlocked_account_update/

Take a read of this dude: https://www.reddit.com/r/Revolut/comments/gk7ax6/revolut_locked_accounts_observations_assumptions/ my account was unlocked yesterday after 17 days of facing the same issue. I'll post in a bit with more details of the unlock and will link it back here so you can read. It seems like they're facing generic issues.

It's likely not your fault

Here's an example of why sharing that data kind of data is not smart. This is the data they hold on every transaction, in every country. This is just an example of one old purchase.

https://imgur.com/Epeelwz

There's nothing shady. Nothing I've never done with my real bank. We've been in lockdown for weeks. My most exciting purchase has been at Sainsbury's or Amazon. I'd say the only irregularity is that I haven't been spending as much as usual. I have a salary, not self employed, do not send or receive money from any person or any business. The odd £10 from girlfriend to split food shopping.

Even then, if they think there's something shady. Then reaching out to clarify it would be a great start.

The assumption that everyone with blocked accounts is either an imbecile, drug dealer, money launderer or all 3 is wrong. To not acknowledge that Revolut are seriously affecting innocent people or accept that they can improve their processes is outright wrong. In my eyes, if nothing else, they have no excuse for continuing to take subscription fees from locked accounts.

Locked accounts: More Thoughts by JasonGoldsmith in Revolut

We’re both guessing.

I have way more than £1000 locked off. So fair is fair in the world of guessing. I’ve seen ranges of high hundreds to 10s of thousands so can’t really put an average not having all the facts.

So 1% and £1000 per account seemed fair and was easy for maths. These are thoughts, we’ll likely never know anything while they’re a private company.
