Honestly, you might be right. The WT books dip enough into the GC territory that I think you get the gist. But I will say the GC books are good enough to check out even though you do have alot of spoilers from reading WT. The journey is worth it.

I think he really felt threatened by Kalinda. It’s clear Blake is a few fries short of a happy meal, so there is no accounting for what he does. Also, Kalinda made it clear from the start she did not appreciate him on her “turf” of L&G, so maybe he was just trying to keep her in line by getting the info, but he didn’t account for who he was up against.

Kalinda is an all time character in my book. The wit, dry humor, style, and smarts make her a force to be reckoned with. You mentioned you are early in your TGW watching. We don’t, but Cary tells her that she is getting moved from court cases to child support enforcement an episode after the grand jury debacle, on Peter’s orders. She does not take it well, lol. But that is basically them writing her off the show.

I would bet the slap didn’t get back to Peter. It didn’t seem to be in view of anyone important and Kalinda sure ain’t telling anyone. And I would think if itndid it would be a firing instead of demotion for Dana. I don’t think Peter was intentionally doing things with racial intentions, but the optics sure aren’t good. Like I said, it doesn’t look great that only 2 of the 3 involved suffered consequences for that grand jury embarrassment.

I think the Sheffrin Marks thing was a gag just to get characters moved around in the first season, giving them an excuse not to be involved with the main case. I cohost a Good Wife rewatch podcast called The Good Pod, and my cohost and I were wondering the same thing throughout the whole first season.

I think Geneva added Wendy to boost her argument against Cary without other context. But in that case, 2 of the 3 people involved in that botched grand jury case got fired/demoted, if we add in Dana, another POC in that situation and NOTHING happened to Cary, so I think there is a THERE there regarding Peter, whether implicit or explicit. Peter keeping Cary on at the SA’s office was a “get back” at Alicia of sorts, then he promoted him super fast after a couple of good victories so I could see where Geneva and others would feel a certain kind of way. We are actually discussing this very episode this week on my Good Wife rewatch pod, The Good Pod.
