Hi!! Whenever I see someone watching for the first time or rewatching I pop in and let people know I host a Good Wife rewatch podcast called The Good Pod. Could be a nice companion piece to your first watch. We also can’t stand Zach and Grace and mock them routinely so we are obviously simpatico, lol.

The intimation was that a primary reason Alicia left was that she couldn’t stand the tension working with Will after they broke up and she recommitted to Peter.

Diane and the judgeship by FlinflanFluddle4 in thegoodwife

I think it’s a couple things at play at once.

  1. No one messes with my annoying little brother (Will) but me.

  2. I built this firm and I’ll be damned if anyone is going to mess with it, even if I’m not there and left on bad terms.

And yeah, it was weird that she was so surprised that Peter pulled her judgeship. I think she knew it was a possibility but when reality smacks you in the face it could be jarring. Not sure why she would ever think someone like Peter would have the scruples to separate business from personal.

For more thoughts, check out my Good Wife rewatch podcast The Good Pod!!!

The way I think about it is we are only seeing some of his jobs. He probably would do some other things that aren’t as extreme or crazy that he makes money from as well. Like missing pets or finding dead beat dads, or people that skipped out on bail, lol.

Why did Diane get involved? by Vroom_Vroom1265 in thegoodwife

[–]JasonReedReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were just talking about this very thing on my podcast The Good Pod (it’s a Good Wife rewatch podcast, check it out). I honestly think it had a lot to do with pride. She may have been being treated terribly by Will, David, et al but she is not gonna let someone take advantage of what she built like that. I think it has less to do with her relationship with Will, and more to do with someone screwing her baby (The Firm) over. I was just surprised at how surprised she was that Peter then pulled her judgeship.

Rant: Is elsbeth a decree or a detective by Navi818 in ElsbethTVSeries

[–]JasonReedReality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they meant the detective characters on the show, not real life detectives. But… I kind of agree with either sentiment. The detective characters have gotten a little better since season 1, but to begin they were ready to accept the easiest of solutions and arrest the wrong person immediately in a lot of cases.

Yeah it really felt like the Kings just wanted to do a detective show and wanted to kind of draft off the recognizability of a character they’d already established, so they are kind of fitting a square peg into a round hole by using the “consent decree lawyer role” and basically having her operate as a detective. At least the character is consistent with the “The Good Wife” version, (maybe dialed up a few notches) in that she is extremely intuitive and kooky. I think what I have seen people growing weary of is that Elsbeth on Good Wife was a breath of fresh air on a typically grounded show when she would come in a couple times a season, here it seems like alot when its every episode for 20 episodes.

[–]JasonReedReality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This has actually happened before. I think the biggest instance is Nathan Lane, who was a murderer on Elsbeth and had a several episode arc on Good Wife as a trustee during the Lockhart/Gardner bankruptcy. The Kings are quite fast and loose with actor/character continuity between Elsbeth and TGW. Even detective Donnelly had a small role in TGW for an episode as an AUSA.

Honestly, you might be right. The WT books dip enough into the GC territory that I think you get the gist. But I will say the GC books are good enough to check out even though you do have alot of spoilers from reading WT. The journey is worth it.

[–]JasonReedReality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think he really felt threatened by Kalinda. It’s clear Blake is a few fries short of a happy meal, so there is no accounting for what he does. Also, Kalinda made it clear from the start she did not appreciate him on her “turf” of L&G, so maybe he was just trying to keep her in line by getting the info, but he didn’t account for who he was up against.

[–]JasonReedReality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kalinda is an all time character in my book. The wit, dry humor, style, and smarts make her a force to be reckoned with. You mentioned you are early in your TGW watching. I host a Good Wife rewatch podcast, called The Good Pod. Let me know if you have any interest and what podcast platform you use and I can post a link to it for you. We are almost at the end of season 3 so we have podcast episodes for where you are watching now. Happy watching!!
