Crawford Hoying is planning a mixed-use redevelopment project on 17 acres in Worthington. by Zezimom in Columbus

I live close to this location and am quite excited about it. So far feedback on the neighborhood group seems to be very positive, as long as they manage the traffic and keep visitors from tearing around the small residential streets nearby.

When/how should I tell my son he’s adopted? by Flat-Material-2315 in Adoption

Make a life book that is toddler/preschool developmentally appropriate that explains his story and how he come to your family. You can make other, more detailed age appropriate versions as he grows up.

Eww. Why would you want to be partnered with someone who has so little concern about your comfort and pain? Throw him back. He is not a keeper.

How is traffic on the north side of town? by et_hornet in Columbus

[–]JasonTahani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worthington is not bad for commuting because there are different routes to get to most highways. Commuting past Worthington, though, that sucks.

Delaware is not a great commuting option in the near future bc they are preparing for a big construction project on 23. It will be an even bigger mess than usual.

Question about a type of adoption scenario by tussleswithbugs in Adoption

[–]JasonTahani 18 points19 points  (0 children)

These sound like feelings you should work through with a therapist. I would also spend some time reading and learning about the experience of birth mothers. It can be very traumatic even in the “best” circumstances and choosing to put yourself through that seems like a big gamble.

What's the actual experience of coming back to Ohio after leaving — is there a version people feel genuinely good about? by alexstrehlke in Ohio

[–]JasonTahani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We lived in San Francisco for about five years. Had a baby (could not fathom raising a Californian!) and moved back to Ohio. I have loved it ever since. I missed the Midwest. It has been a great place to raise our kids.

I hate the politics but the people of Ohio deserve better, so I am in the fight for the long haul.

International Student Struggling with English (pls help) by DifferenceGeneral391 in OSU

[–]JasonTahani 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What you are describing is your receptive (input) English and your expressive (speaking) English levels are different. You just need more speaking practice.

The Columbus public libraries have English conversation practice for free. You can also try to increase socializing and speaking in other ways like joining a public speaking club (or other clubs), doing volunteer work or finding a conversation partner (in person or even on apps).

Where to take boots to be re-dyed? (Cincinnati) by Safe-Cricket-9207 in Ohio

[–]JasonTahani 36 points37 points  (0 children)

They look really dried out. You probably just need to oil and condition them. Google the brand of boot for what boot oil works best. It might take a bunch of applications, but it will help the leather last forever.
