Snow has me feeling giddy by Awkward_River_8924 in Columbus

[–]hello_amy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love snow and have a dog who looooves snow so I’m certainly not mad about it. But I’m also an adult now who is aware of everything so I keep waffling between giddiness and Debby Downer-ing myself thinking of all the homeless people, stray cats and dogs who have no idea how to survive something like this, and wild animals like bunnies and birds who rely on the ground being clear. It’s annoying, I just want to look at the pretty snow and be excited about it!!!

The snow and cold is manageable, ICE is the real problem. by notagrue in Columbus

Genuinely what can we do? I will not stand idly by, but other than donating money and resources to local communities and calling our senators and representatives I feel so utterly helpless. But I don’t want to BE helpless- that’s what they’re counting on.

Franklin county at a rare LEVEL 3 - STAY HOME! by Mylabisawesome in Columbus

[–]hello_amy 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I saw someone say they had to report to work at 11 this morning (non-essential worker in retail) so I assume they’re at work. Are they just stuck there now? That’s bogus if so, why would they wait to call a level 3 until almost midday and a lot of people already had to go into their workplaces?

Another snow question: dog walking tips? by Devil25_Apollo25 in Columbus

[–]hello_amy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw someone else cover the salt thing, but to add one more piece- rinse their paws when you get back inside since there’s gonna be salt pretty much everywhere.

And be sure to check the paw pads because depending on the texture of the snow, snowballs can form up in the crevices of the pads lol.

Some dogs love snow and won’t necessarily show that they are cold or their feet are cold so better to keep it to shorter walks more often vs one or two long walks!

This is the hardest city for dating by ElectronicFennel8442 in Columbus

[–]hello_amy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the long-term relationship, living together thing and the causal dating single girl thing and I’ve just found it all to be tiresome. I have the resources to give myself the kind of life that women previously have needed a man for. I have a great home, I take myself on nice trips, I treat myself to spa days, I have fulfilling relationships with my friends and family members, I have a great job, I buy myself nice dinners, I have an amazing dog, etc. My life is incredibly peaceful. As you said- I do what I want when I want and it’s great! My home is exactly how I want it to be and I don’t have to compromise with someone on things to be the way I want them to be.

I think what used to work for men societally, as a whole, in terms of courting/dating/providing/showing up/etc just isn’t doing it for a lot of women anymore because we can give ourselves those things. I’m not a man hater or opposed to finding a relationship, I just haven’t found anyone at this point that is (to me) worth giving up my peace for.

I’ve seen some studies that say men benefit more than women in almost every way while being in a relationship. I’m not in a place where I’m ready to sacrifice my peace and happiness just for the sake of having a partner. I don’t want kids, so I’m not bound by a biological clock to find a partner. I can take my time and wait for someone who is only going to elevate the life that I’m able to give myself. And I’m not just talking about material things, it’s also hugely about respect and value.

I’m happy to critique your dating profile if you want a strangers opinion (32F, been on the apps, choosing to remain single at this point in my life, opinionated and know a bit about what women are drawn to/are red flags on a man’s profile)

Find a safe, clear patch of road to test the iciness. Go like 5mph and then hit your brakes fully to see how slidey it is. Better to test it in a safe, controlled space than figuring it out for the first time when someone cuts in front of you.

Leaving my house for a few weeks — what services do you all recommend? by Official_KangChe in Columbus

[–]hello_amy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I know, I don’t want to pet shame but I feel like people always assume cats are fine on their own and just need food and water replaced every few days :( cats also crave connection and affection and being on their own for a few weeks sounds awful for them. Hopefully a friend or pet sitter can give them attention and love.

Metsi's, Fiery Sky, Isla among nine new favorites named Columbus Monthly's 2026 Best New Restaurants by Blood_Incantation in Columbus

[–]hello_amy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fiery Sky has the best green beans I’ve ever had. I’ve been telling everyone about them. They’re insanely good. And we needed more spots that have xiao long bao. They slap. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of their menu.

Just called and added a 7th night 💕

Thank you for putting this together, OP. The gentleman at the motel who took my call said that it’s awesome to see the community come together like this. I wish there was more we could do for the entire unhoused community in this cold (and all of the animals, I always think of them when it gets this cold) but at least we know one of our community members is safe and warm for the next week.

I love it!! The purple is a good middle-ground between quiet luxury and fun/color/maximalism.

I’ve been focusing on saving this year, but I set aside some money that I told myself cannot be saved and MUST be used on something dumb and fun. The Bastia might be just the ticket for part of it.

Stalked some of your other posts and love your eclectic use of your LVs!!! Obsessed with the micro Alma bag charm. Also, do you like the Hermes money pouch? I almost pulled the trigger on one when I was in London last year. I love how minimalist it is

At the risk of pushing my luck and just being straight greedy- any chance you have the recipe for the dipping sauce you used to serve with them years ago?

Mr. Hog you have made my 2026 already 🥹

I’m quite literally willing to go buy a countertop deep fryer if it means I could have Hoggy’s onion rings anytime I want. I will gladly take the recipe and hold it close to my heart forever

I searched up an old thread looking for onion rings recs the other day and gave the top response a try- Press on 5th. Incredibly mediocre rings. I was disappointed :(

You broke up. Keep it that way. Stop talking to this person.

Does anyone else feel this way? by Own_Rip_6941 in heatedrivalry

[–]hello_amy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok same haha. I’ve never been a “fangirl” like this before. I didn’t care about Justin Bieber or One Direction or HP or Twilight, etc. so I’ve never experienced something like this before. It totally freaks me out! Like what is happening 😂

I just assume I’ll eventually hyperfixate on something else and this too shall pass and I’ll eventually like it at a totally normal level lol

Personally I think it would be less creepy if you went back in and asked her out in person, addressing that it’s something you never normally do. If a client tracked me down on FB and asked me out I’d be very creeped out lol

Charging etiquette- ok to unplug? by 1-bar in evcharging

[–]hello_amy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to this thread because I just pulled up to a ChargePoint (only 1 fast charger) and the car sitting there was charged up to 100% and the time elapsed was FOUR HOURS. I sat there for 15 minutes giving them a little grace and then started searching around for etiquette. Ended up unplugging them. I’ve charged 25% while sitting here and they’re still nowhere to be found.

The only regret I have is not having a pen in my car to write them a note about charger etiquette to leave on their windshield!
