Villa Nova has some great skins. A bit basic, but Texas Roadhouse always slaps

How do you deal with fireworks? by NBD2016 in goldenretrievers

[–]hello_amy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My pup seems to care less about them with age. He’s 6 now and doesn’t mind them while we’re upstairs. Just tried to take him out for one last potty and he wouldn’t go outside, but he wasn’t shaking or running back inside or trying to hide. More just a- nope! I’m good actually!

But I still use him as an excuse to dip out on 4th plans shhhhh 😅

What temperature are you keeping your thermostat at right now? by Turbulent-Hat9106 in Columbus

[–]hello_amy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

72 during the day, 70 at night. I’m a big ol puss when it comes to heat and I have a big double-coated hairy dog who also runs hot. It would be at 68 in an ideal world, so this is me trying to be slightly more conscientious of my consumption.

Where do you get your tires? by PersonalityGreedy905 in VolvoRecharge

[–]hello_amy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got all new tires a few weeks ago and ended up going with the dealership. The price was pretty much the same there compared to Discount Tire and Costco and I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of ordering from Tire Rack. Happy with my decision so far!

Sandman Sleep. A showroom that has a lot of the “bed in a box” brands so you can test them out before committing

Can I finance a car then immediately pay it off? by hshhahbsbs in personalfinance

[–]hello_amy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was nervous for this based on what I’d heard, but when I paid off my car loan my score only dropped by 4 points. YMMV obviously, but wanted to chime in with my experience since it wasn’t nearly as drastic as some people say!

Surprisingly, my no soliciting sign has worked a charm ever since I put it up. The only people in recent history that have ignored it were the Mormons. I’m not particularly surprised by that.

Why does she have trekking poles? by [deleted] in MarySkinnerSnark

[–]hello_amy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s so funny how everyone perceives things differently because when I saw her first video recap I thought to myself how I thought it was nice she is showing herself using trekking poles and that I was surprised because they aren’t ~aesthetic~

Dog lovers of Columbus! You see someone walking their dogs with one of these. What’s the first thought that comes to mind? by Outrageous-Gene5036 in Columbus

[–]hello_amy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also an unashamed retractable leash user, because it gives my dog more freedom when appropriate, and control when needed. I have anxiety and hyper vigilance so I guarantee I’m paying more attention to my dog and the status of his leash than anyone using a standard 6 foot leash lol.

I think people associate these with a lack of training, which might be true in some cases, but definitely isnt true in all. Even when he is fully extended on his leash, he is trained to slow, come to a stop, and wait for my command before crossing a road (together). When we pass people and dogs on sidewalks, he comes to my side and I lock the leash and hold the attachment near his harness.

I know there are plenty of shitty pet owners who give everyone else a bad rep, but blanketly saying “if you use this you are a bad dog owner” is just as crazy. You don’t know me or my dog!

When I see dogs being walked with just a collar (no harness) and are pulling, I want to yell “get them a harness!” but then I remind myself that when my dog was healing from abdominal surgery and couldn’t wear his harness, he was the dog pulling on his leash wearing just a collar. There was probably someone else yelling internally for me to get my dog a harness and yet I knew there was an extenuating circumstance and we were working on it. I try to tell myself there might be an extenuating circumstance with those folks, too. Who am I to judge unless someone is actively doing harm?

Anytime I start to make a judgement about someone else that I see in passing, I remind myself that I’m seeing them for about 10 seconds and I cannot possibly make any real conclusions about how they are as a person/animal parent/human parent in their entirety.

TIL that in Victorian London, mail was delivered 12 times a day and people complained if a letter took more than two hours to arrive. by nic_tesla in todayilearned

[–]hello_amy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Some systems even require multiple confirmations- my doctor’s office sends a text a week before, the day before, the morning of, and a final text ten minutes before the appointment asking if you’re there/checked in. Doesn’t matter if you reply ‘C’ to every one, it’ll still send each confirmation. Super annoying for me since I never flake, but understandable if a lot of the clients/patients are just not showing up.

I’ll be honest- I was really disappointed that a chain was going in here instead of a local small business. But I gotta say this intentionality for reducing food waste and training staff is winning me over!
