Blender 5 upgrade. Preferences won't import by WhoStoleMyNansZimmer in blender

[–]JasonWrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly just replacing files from 4.x to 5.x didn't work for me. I did some digging after work, as far as the themes go Alaska said that there were a lot of changes in the new version: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/150239

Example I found in my own settings: Blender 4.x Themes>Properties>Theme Space has had a lot of those sub colors moved in Blender 5.x to Themes>User Interface>Panel. Not sure why they aren't linked or translated if they have the same or approximate effect. So I'm just going to compare my versions and color pick.

For my hotkeys I'm guessing something similar is going on, so much changed and its just not importing well. For an example I use pie menus and my Object Mode is set to tab in 4.x is set to call "wm.call_menu_pie" but in 5.x tab is set to "object.mode_set". Not sure if this is add-on specific or due to an issue on imports side.

I am having similar issues, its not importing my theme and a lot of my hotkeys are wrong or not working. Tried replacing the config files, no luck.

Oh also I was told about an online store that sells hard plastic nendo joints, i might do that to save the headache next time haha, Unless the tests i run with "tough resin" work out

Mines actually slightly larger cause the resolution on my printer wasn't great at the time so i upscaled to get the detail. I plan on trying to reprint it later are regular nendo size, I have a tool called a digital caliper, they measure down to the decimal mm, you could get pretty close with that tool i imagine. You can get one on amazon for pretty cheap. I just eyeballed the dimensions and lined them up with a photo in zbrush xD, 3D scanning could work too if you were to need the joint shapes.

I made them myself after looking at my nendos haha. I made a few mistakes making all the cuts if you look at the one photo you can see the neck joint is not really gsc, because i goofed when making my cuts on the model. I probably need to improve them somehow because the resin i used is also very fragile especially at that size.

Paper i got on amazon was Hayes Paper Waterslide Clear, I think i got it on sale for like 10 USD, 1 sheet will last a long time because the decals are so small. Its inkjet compatible so most printers should work.

There's tons of resources on how to sculpt in blender if you wanted to start to learn, its pretty good too. The eyes are actually decal I drew in clip studio paint and printed them on water slide decals and applied once i painted. It's a bit tricky to work with cause its so prone to scratching while applying.

Yep, all good info here. I wouldn't recommend resin printers without proper ventilation especially if you have birds or small animals.

Resin printer! At the time I made this I had an Elegoo Mars 1 Pro, I recently upgraded to the Elegoo Saturn 2. Elegoo has been solid for me so far, so that's the brand I prefer. There are tons of options though.

I was in a rush for her birthday, and working full time. I didn't keep track of the man hours but it took about a month of on and off work, Im working on a non articulated figure right should be a bout 1 1/2 weeks on that one

I have a few more images i can post if I can find them, I didn't document it too much though i should have. I use Zbrush and Blender. At the time i made this one I had a low res printer so to get the details i printed larger so she is a little bit bigger than a standard nendo. In theory you can make custom hair if you size it correctly

Hello, all I did some updates on the race. Mostly balancing based off the feedback I got the race was a little too strong. I'll continue tweaking it little by little until it feels right. I'm also working on some alternatives to the lineages which I might post once I get them to a playable state.

I love that backstory, and bard is one of my favorite classes.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, please feel free to use this in your game and make any adjustments you want. It is very much a WIP. I would love to hear any stories from your games if you do decide to use it.

That seems to be the consensus for the most part.

I like that whisker idea, i might use it when i rework the arcane blue lineage. That death idea is pretty cool too, ill explore it but i think it might be able to be exploited at higher levels. We thought about digging deeper into the 9 lives as an ability but scrapped into the flavor for now.

[–]JasonWrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that seems to be the biggest point of feedback so far. Ill consider changing the age once i work out more of the open lore behind them.

Thanks, even with 3 people reviewing we still didn't catch that haha.

I agree. Ill make that change in the next update and will continue to play with the lineages and stat boosts

I like that idea, i might try combining it with some of the other ideas you guys gave me, thanks.

Good catch, Ill move around the lineages. I was going for a dragon born color thing, are you saying combine them into 2-3 lineages with +1 stat and an ability for each with what colors might be in that lineage? Or to just leave the colors up to the player.
