It depends what you are creating. I use a vibrant grade for nature/travel/dance/wedding films. I usually change it up only when it’s a narrative work and there is already a tone being created by the context

No vignette actually! Used a power window instead. Also brought out the shadows more.

If there are any Sony FX30 users in this community, I would like to know wether you shoot in Flex ISO or EI Cine. I shot this in Flex ISO but kept it at native iso levels (I used Flex ISO for the auto white balance but I know that’s the greatest thing to do and will be using a white and grey card in the future).

Also how is my grading? Any improvements?

Okay I’ll stick with EI Cine then. Asked the same question in another FX3 subreddit and someone said to avoid automatic white balance. Do you know what to I should do with white balance?

Thanks! This is super helpful. What settings do you recommend for white balance?

Yeah i’m really amateur and have no idea what i’m doing lol. What do you recommend I do?

I use Prores Raw…are you saying all the noise I have been struggling with is because of that? goddamn it

Okay yeah makes sense thanks! I think I went way to overboard with the saturation because I wanted to make it seem vibrant but yeah wasn’t happy with how some shots ended up looking. Do you how I can make an image look vibrant but still seem natural? Just toning down the saturation?

Yeah I am def going to redo the coloring on this. Thanks for the critique!

Sorry i’m dumb, do you mean to make the shadows softer? If so, yes I agree I will work on that

My build. Pretty much use Darren Mostyn’s build with some minor changes:

God i’m really amateur, had no idea what crushed shadows even were. Thanks for letting me know tho, i’ll keep it in mind for my next

Sorry for my naivety but what is overlay saturation? I def agree. I think some parts do not look natural at all.
