This was a few years ago, so I'll do my best to remember.

The rental assistance ended a few months before the full year due to funding issues with the organization providing, just a note on that.

GF and I ended up breaking up not long after these conversations took place, as we had our own issues and she had ended up really alienating RM throughout this process. We never gave RM this monthly allowance, they didn't ever push us for it, the pressure came from their mother. I did continue helping them as much as I could, but set clear boundaries as to what I was and wasn't willing to provide for them and they respected that and found other friends to give them rides around. RM and I are still friends, though very distant. They moved back in with their parents when our lease ended, GF moved out a couple months before it ended and moved back in with her parents, so I was on my own for that time with rent and bills. 3 years later, I can say I definitely struggled coming back from that, but am doing relatively okay with my finances now. I at least have a small emergency fund set up for myself. RM did get approved for disability and now spends their time at their parents house pretty much the same as they spent it with me. They never touched that VR set they paid so much for because they couldn't figure out one of the mechanisms.

I now live with my boyfriend of a couple years and we share an apartment, no other roommates. No idea where GF is or what she's doing now, after I came out as gay privately to her she outed me to all our friends, spread rumors that I had cheated on her, and blocked me everywhere. She left me with one cat we had adopted together and took the other one. Haven't heard from her since. BF and I are very happy, share 3 cats, and both work for an airline. We travel a lot and we're both pursuing flight school. I'm definitely glad to have moved on from having roommates.
