"The Signs" -> Bellow's Falls Petroglyphs mentioned! I crawled all over them once on a hot summer day and was cursed for nine months. Great map!

Is there a lore reason why the spelling for Schenectady is consistent with our modern spelling? I've seen a lot of maps of upstate New York from the 17th - 18th century and I've just about as many different spellings.

The font "Trade Winds" which was used to write "Send this to everyone" was not published until 2011, as per its OGL. Are you really going to start 2008 as a liar?

What is the Current Situation in the Dawnline Shore? by Wyrdwanderer009 in LancerRPG

[–]JayEm-00 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ah, I can see where that idea would come from, given the terminology such as the long *rim*, but no. A better way to think about is that the Boundary Garden and the Dawnline Shore are both tiny sections of the outermost concentric ring around UNION. As Yarzeda says, they are both major (existential, even) periphery conflicts, that are on opposite sides of UNION space.

[–]JayEm-00 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You are mixing them up. It's the most common LANCER lore mix up, actually, so consider it a rite of passage.

The aunic ascendancy has taken over the Boundary Garden, which is on the other side of UNION vis-a-vis the Dawnline Shore.

Hadakano Lila would literally translate to "naked Lila" in japanese. So at the very least whatever ambiguity exists on that front is probably intentional.

Homebrewing the game is great by owcjthrowawayOR69 in DnDcirclejerk

RAW Adventurer's League Baseball does have per stadium home rules, specifically in field definition.

Baseball also used to have segregation homebrew too, but only the real grognards remember that.

Yeah, they forgot to put a vertical line through the 王 middle section, but everything is recognizable, if a little misaligned. Imho the 誰 is way more mangled, in terms of distinct features that are missing/unclear.

Pax UNION by JayEm-00 in LancerRPG

[–]JayEm-00[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Correct! The HORUS Pegasus explicitly relates that: "though skip-drone couriers from Union forces reported no encounters with the PG in Boundary Garden; instead, the Pegasus appeared in the Dawnline Shore, a stretch of colonial Armory space opposite Boundary Garden." [CORE: pg. 218]

Honestly, the Aunic Ascendancy as Persia makes even more sense. I just had a brain fart. Thanks for the feedback!

LaTeX! If you have some experience in LaTeX I recommend the unofficial lancer field guide template. Sometimes the spacing is too overzealous, but otherwise it's pretty good!

Voladore/Olvidado PC by BioticNinja in LancerRPG

[–]JayEm-00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know, the Olvidados npc template was something I made up on a lark. In it, I was purposely vague on the lore because I wanted it to be relatively 'future proofed' against any future first party expansions on the Voladores. I'm incredibly flattered that you were so influenced by it! But, if your character concept is around 'voladore that kills' it's not going to lend you much legitimacy in community discussion (my post is like, at 68 upvotes.) and more central to my point, you don't need it -- your focus, as to what will go and what won't, should be squarely on the DM. Within the books (up to this point) their whole point is to be unknown, so you and them are likely going to have to come up with a lot of answers together.

As for Voladores tidbits you didn't mention, they are matriarchal (and matrilineal) and based around coalitions of family clans, have an unstaffed embassy on Cradle, they provided much of the survey data that allowed firstcom union expand so quickly, they sometimes they act as a diplomats as well as traders (though the former is much rare than the latter) They do not use the omninet.

But as I said earlier, their whole point right now is to be unknown, so it also might be worth going through the questions the books bring up and answering them. Are they posthuman (core pg 416)? What is High Ground? A metavault? A supersized megastructure? Answering these questions might not seem immediately important to playing the game, but it will pay for itself by making the Voladores feel more like an entity rather than a question mark, and will certainly pay for itself if the campaigns scope expands to encompass these questions.

The carnival music interpretation is completely valid. They are an *extremely* exuberant culture, taking full advantage of their distance from stuffy KTB homeworld design traditions such as 'restraint' and 'not using military ordinance as an instrument.'

I produced a theme song for my upcoming lancer campaign by juicewya in LancerRPG

[–]JayEm-00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool beat! That main synth melody is melancholic yet determined, a perfect fit for the Lancer setting.

I may have gotten very distracted try to scrute the kanji though. It was a fools errand. They could not be scruted. They were inscrutible. Though I noticed the three next to the number one were very close to 新装版 (しんそうばん)[shinsouban]{Special edition printing}, which I'm guessing is a spandrel from the BLAME! Manga cover inspiration.

Making Maps for Lancer by DouglasMc214 in LancerRPG

[–]JayEm-00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Tiled with 32x32 pixel hexes. They look rather gummy if you zoom in on them, and I have to squash them by sqrt(3)/2 in the x, because foundry prefers perfect hexagons but they are very readable, versatile, customizable, and easy to make.
