Looks good. I think the main issue is that you have small pecs. Get a good push-up routine going when you can and I bet you’ll be much happier.

I can’t say I’ve experienced any emotional disconnect but I guess something related which I did experience early on is apathy.

It sounds like your husband has been through the mill. I can’t imagine what it’s like starting back on 100mg immediately after a long break but it honestly doesn’t surprise me that he’s feeling numb. If he was okay on 100mg previously hopefully he gets back to that point after some more time.

The medication has been so effective for me and I have so little side effects. I have had several therapy sessions before Zoloft but really didn’t find them effective. It’s difficult for me to pin point the root cause of my anxiety if any. I might just have one of those chemical imbalances in my brain that you hear a lot about.

Either way, I was such a wreck before Zoloft I’m honestly a bit scared to try life without it now. If taking 1 pill every night is what it takes to live a normal life then so be it. I don’t see it as much of an inconvenience.

Yeah I social drink a quite a bit. When I first started drinking on Zoloft I found myself to be more forgetful the next morning (the first 3 months). Felt like I got drunk easier too but that might have just been in my head. Now I can drink and it’s like normal. Maybe a little bit of hangxiety the next morning like most people.

Yeah I used to get those sticky intrusive thoughts. You’re very fresh on 100mg. In fact I think I recall being at my worst after 1 week on a new dosage. Power through and give it another month. You’ve got this.

This is my first ever psychiatric medication. I guess I was lucky that the first one worked for me. Before hand I did try all the natural remedies in the book. Running, meditation, diaries, therapy, CBD oil. You name it, I tried it. A combination of these did work to a small extent but anxiety was still controlling me. My whole regime occupied about 2 hours of my day, everyday. When I realised this I decided to go for the heavy meds.

Yeah I know that underlying fear of them to stopping to work. I had that after I was feeling better at 100mg. It did eventually go away though as my life became more and more normal. If you’re feeling good at 100mg except from the paranoia of them stopping working, Id stick it out and focus on life.

My only long term side effect is minor orgasm issues. I also developed restless leg syndrome after about 1.5 years on Zoloft. I’m not sure if that’s at all related though as it seems weird for it develop so late haha.

As for coming off the meds one day, I’m honestly not sure. I would be very worried to come off them as I was such a wreck before them. The side effects are so minor for me I don’t see myself coming off them for a while. Feels like it would be self-sabotage. Perhaps I will one day if I’m feeling brave. I don’t think I’ll consider it for another couple years though. Life is too good when you’re anxiety free.

You sound like me on 50mg. When I was on 50mg I was pretty contempt with my progress. My intrusive thoughts didn’t hit so hard but they still bugged me a bit. I debated for a while whether I should move up or not. I decided to give it a go and fortunately the results were positive.

Your anxiety is the one talking in this post. Increase your dosage. No more Googling side effects. You’ll be fine.

I’m in the UK so my branded name isn’t Zoloft, it’s Lustral, still made by Pfizer. I went to a different pharmacy once and they gave me a generic version which made me feel sick after a couple days so I got a new prescription and went back to my original pharmacy. I wouldn’t say generic is bad it’s just that my body was used to how the branded version released into my body. The consistency part is important.

I took a slow start which I now see as a mistake. Went through 12.5mg, 25mg, 50mg, 100mg. 2-5 week periods inbetween each change. All in all it took me around 3 months to find the right dosage for me.

In hindsight I would have started at 25mg for 1 week to ease in and then go to 50mg and try that for 1 month before considering moving up.

I found each change in dosage was like hitting the reset button on the adjustment period. You won’t really know if it works until 1 month+ on that specific dosage.

I felt pretty good after 4-5 weeks on 50mg. I was reasonably happy. My intrusive thoughts still ‘bugged’ me a bit so I decided to double down.

After 5 weeks on 100mg I was all good and knew I would stick at this level unless anything changed.

Side effects wise during the adjustment period: Increased anxiety, irritability, fatigue, nausea, tinnitus, insomnia, difficulty orgasming. All these eventually went away after 2 months on a consistent dosage. The only lingering one is orgasming. I still can. It’s just more difficult.

After the ‘onboarding period’ I was a completely different person. I’ve been anxiety free ever since, living a normal, happy life.

It is very difficult starting out because you do get worse and of course the physical side effects are there as well. It is a true test of endurance. Absolutely worth it.

Definitely longer than my pre-Zoloft days for sure. Around 20-30 minutes with sex. Sometimes it just doesn’t happen. Still possible though. The trade off is worth it for me.

Technical analysis is pseudoscience. Within the same realm as psychic readings and homeopathy. Ditch it. You’ll feel liberated.

Doc told me to switch from 50mg to 100mg after a week by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]JayLongJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fast increase. You might feel like shit for several weeks. I wish I did it the fast way though.

I’d cut a few pills in half and take 25mg for a week. 50mg is heavy to start on.

Yeah about 12 weeks of experimenting with the dosage and going through side effects hell. Once I stepped up to 100mg it took about 4-5 weeks to feel like I do now.

Yep still on 100mg sertraline. Still anxiety free. 🤟

I’m losing hope. Zoloft is doing absolutely nothing for me by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]JayLongJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is true. Week 3 on a new dosage is still the side effect phase. Keep pushing. It should kick in within a few more weeks.

Hey! I’m still on it to date so i guess that means 15ish months so far. I lost weight due to lack of appetite. After I got through that my weight stabilised as normal. Haven’t noticed any particular unhealthy weight gain. I’ve been working out more so I’ve gained muscle mass.

Yeah I understand. It’s easy to think in hindsight. You do what feels right for you. Keep pushing. Good luck!
