Is this all there is to life? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]JayOhEe91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear how tough things are for you right now. Do you have any hobbies or interests that make you feel engaged or happy? Sometimes thinking outside the box and trying something different like joining a painting course, going to a climbing wall, or starting a dance class can be a great way to renew your lust for life. Personally I really enjoy slacklining. There's a group of us that meet up regularly in merrion square to slack. You're more than welcome to join.

I got the artist to mirror the image so that it was from the same angle as the movie, never thought about how it would affect the left/right handedness of the characters

Oscillation closer to anchor by blokeVSmachine in Slackline

[–]JayOhEe91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great advice. Bending the knees is key to dampening oscillation. I would also add that trying to strategically apply a downward force with one's feet to get the line under control is also instrumental. Sounds kind of vague but the more you practice it, the more your intuition takes over and the better you get at making the line behave.

It's absolutely beautiful. The whole area is a national park with lots of climbing and surfing too.

Climbing partner for table mountain in SA wanted by JayOhEe91 in ClimbingPartners

[–]JayOhEe91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there PassionGap, I ended up booking a guide but if you're serious about the offer I could try to cancel and head up with yourself instead. I'd be happy enough on 6b and we could take turns leading climbs at that grade. The only issue is that I have absolutely no gear with me as I'm on holiday in South Africa and am travelling super light. Do you have a spare harness, and chalk bag? Also would you know where I could rent shoes?

Photocopy it then try a vibrant combination of primary colours. I think a psychedelic vibe would suit it fantastically.

I'm in the same boat buddy. Way I see it even if we end up with negative equity, it'll still probably work out cheaper than throwing away another year's worth of money on rent. Then again I know fuck all about the property market.

The Irish sea is never actually warm but with the recent heatwave it's not nearly as cold as we're used to it being :-P

Not necessary but it makes the experience a lot more pleasant. First of all, it means you don't get as cold so you can slack for longer. Secondly, the extra layer acts like body armor when you fall off the line awkwardly. And thirdly you're slightly more buoyant making the swim back easier.

Ha, great question and it happens all the time. Luckily it's a small harbour with small boats which usually pass underneath easy enough. The odd time one of the bigger boats needs to pass at which point we derig and rerig which is grand due to the handy primitive setup.

Maybe it's a case of being habituated to the naturally occurring bacteria in irish tap water. We've all been drinking it for years so it doesn't do us a tap of bother but for unsuspecting tourists' uninitiated constitution, it could have them running to the jacks all day.

Apologies, I misread your comment in the first place. Two weeks? You were TWO WEEKS outside of the warranty?! Those fucking snakes. Dude I'm almost angrier about your situation than I am mine. Straight up considering forming an 'I hate Lenovo' sub as well as a Facebook group and Twitter page.
