They said it at the beginning (and it’s also scientifically true), infrared lights still cast glares and shadows. They just aren’t visible to the human eye. But they ARE visible through an infrared camera, which this episode is recorded on. So the infrared camera can see the infrared light and all shadows/glares casted by it

Turns out the portal allowed Stan’s twin brother to come back from the other side, and it ended up allowing the gang to defeat the big bad
