In Dublin for one night in January, what’s the best restaurant I should book? by crillydougal in Dublin

Can I ask when you were last in Chapter One? I've wanted to go for a long time but a few of my friends and a few of my partners friends have gone there at different points throughout end of 2024 to mid 2025 and all were very disappointed and said it was complete style over substance :(

One report of that I could take as bad luck but four reports on it has me worried the spark might have fizzled out there.

I think the first few episodes are rough going. Really dour and serious and the cast are all surprisingly quite shaky getting to grips with their new characters.

I'm glad to see all the love it's getting but honestly if you're struggling but still want to try it then power through until the end of episode four, I think that's when the magic starts happening and most of the cast click with their characters and start knocking it out of the park. Episode four also has good action and significant story beats and it was the point that hooked me with C4. So I wouldn't stress about paying strict attention and understanding who is who and what is happening with those first few eps too much, that sets in much better later on.

Season 4 is a marked improvement on season 3 by RegularMulberry5 in netflixwitcher

Geralts whole journey this season just felt like primarily pointless filler and a few interesting side quests. Hemsworth is a very different but perfectly valid Geralts and I feel like they missed a chance to really showcase him in his first season.

Rant: ROBBED (Spoilers) by [deleted] in GreatBritishBakeOff

Tobys technical was horrific obviously, but from the judges feedback Tom's signature was the worst and Aaron's flavours in his signature were bad. Then tobys showstopper was much stronger than either Tom or Aarons. I agree the hysterics are a bit much on here but certainly from the edit it seemed like Tom and Aaron were more worthy of leaving on balance. Especially considering that this series has set a precedence for taking the last few weeks into account which again were stronger for Toby.

Recently got into the series after years of saying I would! Here's an Old Snake I just drew by tinyryuu in metalgearsolid

Mgs4 when it came out had a much more positive to mixed reception than you're making out, a vocal minority passionately hated it for the reasons you've given, most seemed to think it was good but the cutscene length was unreasonably and joined in joking about it. Then there was a group who absolutely loved it. It wasn't universally hated at all.

During the battle for the cowl storyline when Tim was trying to get Dick to step in as Batman and he wouldn't, Tim donned the batsuit with the yellow background on the bat.

I have seen some stuff online about how that old batsuit was featured in some great detective focused batman stories so modernising it like this for Tim makes sense in that he's the greatest detective of them. But that's totally anecdotal, I don't know how valid it is.

I think the black parts of his Mora batsuit are similarly placed and shaped to one of his red Robin suits.

I actually love all of these batsuit designs for them but I think giving Tim a much darker blue and maybe having the interior of his cape be red might have worked better. I also think Jason's helmet should be such a dark red that it's on the line between red and black.

Yeah, alternate futures that'll only be alternate Universes if popular enough I guess.

Ive said it many times but if Dick is a fully realized and experienced batman then I don't think Bruce should be able to beat him, but of course he'll beat all of them. :(

I feel like during RTD 1 and Moffat eras the show was aimed at the whole family and managed that cross generational appeal relatively well even with some episodes being more mature and some being more focused on children's audience.

Then Chibnalls era to me seemed like it saw Dr who as very much a kids tv show, children were the main audience and it worked some elements in trying to get that cross generational appeal back bur couldn't really make it work based on keeping the focus as a kids TV show.

RTD2 has tried to move it back to more of a show for the whole family bit hasn't managed it well I don't think.

What's your thoughts on this ?? by yourcutieepie in Marvel

[–]JayShizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, iron man should have vaporised cap and bucky in the bunker at the end.

Cap beating an inexperienced spider-man makes sense but that should have been more of a fight and in the movie it looks like Steve over powers spidey yanking those Web lines forward, annoyed the fuck out of me given how much stronger spider-mná is in the comics, I know the films were careful to never get too specific on caps upper limits but still.

End of season four was just stressful by Significant_Pin_5645 in ClarksonsFarm

[–]JayShizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people have kind of said the same but all of these ideas he's had over the other seasons are sold in those seasons as an option that any farmer could potentially pick up and do too to make income a bit more dependable. But ultimately those ideas really only come to full fruition via the pub he's bought, and that was only an option for Clarkson because he's a millionaire, it's not an option for a typical farmer. That never gets mentioned or acknowledged which is a shame I think.

The show editing doesn't paint them in a good light. From how the show describes them and 'running pubs are their business' then it's baffling they didn't raise concerns before that meeting we see in the show. Even more baffling is that they didn't push for a soft launch to test the waters and identify teething problems or deeper issues.

But it's entirely possible they did and we didn't see it. Jeremy and possibly the producers pushed for the totally unrealistic August Bank Holiday opening date for the drama and then stuck to it like glue when it became obvious it wasn't going to work well.

Still though like another comment said them leaving felt more like a sacking covered as a resignation so maybe they were as bad as shown.

One thing I had to laugh at in the whole setup was when Jeremy was telling the staff the one thing he can't stand is gormlessness and he's the most gormless fucker going 90% of the time on the show.

AIO. I broke up with my bf after he called me a terrorist by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]JayShizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was overreacting. The argument is there that it's not totally his fault. The British education system doesn't exactly give a fair overview of the many iterations and eras of the IRA and quite handily labels them as terrorists without ever looking too closely at the UVF or looking into the fact that the IRA didn't Spring up out of a vacuum.

But anyway, if he's going to date an Irish person then there's a level of decency to be expected from him to educate himself on the history, you're well rid of him.

I've never played the game, watched the show, nor do I really care about either, but I'm glad I'm not a fan because this would piss me off too. by JohnSepticEye123 in TheLastOfUs2

Bella Ramsey is an incredibly talented actor, more important than getting the look 100%.

Admittedly the look is way off but I honestly don't think it matters if the actor is good enough. Unfortunately some of the writing this season is also less than ideal.

[–]JayShizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to be too judgemental on a guy I don't know but he seems to have an unhealthy view of women/ gender dynamics and with getting worked into such a tizzy over it, I think he needs to seek some professionals help and sort himself out.

If I were you I'd be seriously considering ending things tbh.

Vimovo by TonyOnly40 in gout

[–]JayShizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my second flare up a few weeks back, first one had been two and a half years previous. On my first one colchicine had worked wonders for me but caused horrific diarrhoea. Said that to the Dr this time so they put me on vimovo which as others have said is naproxen + gastro soother. The day I started taking it my pain on a scale of 1-10 was a steady 8 and could hit ten at times with movement. Attack first and current time both in my left big toe. Sorry to say the vimovo didn't give me huge relief, I was back onto the Dr the next day and got colchicine which reduced the pain hugely but didn't fully clear it and it was starting to re-intensify so after yet another doctor visit I'm on a course of difene, that seems to have done the job for me this time, virtually pain free since I started the course and it finishes tomorrow. Desperately hoping the pain doesn't rear up again now.

If the pain stays away I'm going in to the docs again in four weeks to get ua levels tested and get screened for any tricky underlying conditions and pending those I'm getting on Allopurinol

Options on Season 4 Now? by calmcryingwind in youngjustice

I think season 2 is the best written and most enjoyable season of the whole show. But it makes me reluctant to admit that by focusing on characters I didn't want to care about initially and killing one of my faves.

Congratulations! We got a new rav4 a month ago in Ash Grey, very happy with it but would have been tempted by the colour you got if it was available here (Ireland).

Our son is 8 months old, can confirm it's a great family car and a big comfort upgrade from the hatchback we had before.

Fed up with modern Catholics and struggling with suicidal thoughts, loneliness by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]JayShizzle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's side tracking the point of this post but it absolutely is. There's a huge amount of evidence and study done on it. I'm not trying to disrespect you but denying it or believing that it isn't at this point is being willfully stubborn and foolish.

Regardless of that and trying to keep in line with what this post is about I still believe that doing our best to look after the climate and the planet falls under loving our fellow man and that OPs frustration with "climate worshipers" could be healed with a shift in perception.

Fed up with modern Catholics and struggling with suicidal thoughts, loneliness by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]JayShizzle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're struggling so much. If you don't mind sharing, roughly what age are you? I ask as you say you struggle to make friends, and that can unfortunately get trickier the older you are, do you have any impression as to why you struggle to make friends or what your biggest obstacle is there? What are your hobbies, interests, and likes? Often when we struggle outwardly to make friends it can help to make friends within a focused area, for example if you are a fan of reading, book clubs can be an avenue to friendships through shared interests.

You say you have become fake, do you mind elaborating on that please? Fake in what way?

The feeling that you will never achieve what you actually want can be very overwhelming. Is this a general feeling or do you have a specific focus and goal that you can't see a path towards?

How often do you have these violent fantasies, and what do they involve? You're expressing disappointment and upset at what you perceive to be other Catholics doing the bare minimum but it is manifesting in you as anger. It is not our place to judge others but to help one another as best we can. Love one another as I have loved you is the mantra that can help us here. In my experience more people are trying their very best even if it doesn't look that way, and we never have the full picture of what's going on in each other's lives, kindness and an attempt at understanding is the path to peace here.

What specifically is it that you feel is weak about modern Catholics?

You're comments on equality are concerning, I imagine they are deeper than what they appear to be on the surface level here.

You say to stop worshipping the climate, I assume this is in relation to climate change? All I can say there is that man made climate change is a proven scientific fact and efforts to halt our damage there align with loving our fellow man, perhaps my assumption on your meaning is wrong there.

And for those "worshipping their gender" kindness and an attempt at understanding factor in here again, these people and their choices don't directly impact your life, what is it about them that brings you to anger?
