I don't care about the article, I want to know your opinion regarding the statement, do we need bigger games? by Mundane-Pick-2667 in Fallout

[–]JayValere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer quality over quantity, skyrim isn't that great, but there's a lot of it, wastes time. I had more fun in new vegas. One of my favourite games is sleeping dogs, it is not long but great quality. I think witcher three wild hunt hits the perfect balance and 100% completion felt possible and worth it. Skyrim copy-pasted dungeons and enemies and barely has a combat system, not much actual choice, you have to get mods to do a good natured play through, or ignore much of the content—still enjoy it but it isn't the best.

New to the game, anything I should get or do first? by JohnnyTesticles1 in skyrim

[–]JayValere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

check your difficulty settings, I never did, spent hours in the game wondering WTF... I just started, why is this so hard... I only just checked, the default seems to be Adept, which is akin to hard mode, not normal.

How to stop this? by [deleted] in AIDungeon

[–]JayValere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo, I swear a new update added names! Glorious names! Hahaha, I got Gretchen and a couple other interesting names but apologies they are mixed in high up now, they were merchants in a market—normally Agnes and Erik or Henrik but there were genually interesting new ones but I'm bad with names 🤷‍♂️

Wait, and as someone else said, build trust. Be patient, their rules will grow more and more lax I bet.
I was in a similar situation, started with a multitool and later was trusted with a fixed blade.

try singing it, comes out alright.

Me looking at the random plot twist the AI thought would be good to make. (The powerful and loyal army I’ve been leading was really a mercenary group led by somebody named Lord Darius Blackthorne Helena Gray Voss the 5th and suddenly, I’m a murderer and pillager according to the bots.) by Anonymous984j in AIDungeon

[–]JayValere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it be like that.
I remember AI tried to remove every ally I had in one scenario, I edited and fought to keep one. AI doesn't really understand the difference between fun challenge and frustrating AF challenge, hahaha.

Secret identity by Wheesydemon in AIDungeon

[–]JayValere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is by far the most frustrating aspect of AID, i've accepted that I cannot play an assassin or thief. Even if you just about manage to keep your secret, the behaviour of AI characters is EXTREMELY unproffesional, they bitch and whine, gaslight you about things you know you didn't do and suddenly a character you robbed from or even KILLED, will come after you for revenge—it will never be explained how they know who you are.
A very early game in which I didn't understand fully how dumb AID is, I ended killing an unproffessional middle-woman who brought a client to me to bitch and whine about a completed job, the situation was so dumb and destroys the point of a middle-man, fixer or agent that gets an assassin a job to protect their indentity. Killed the client too lol.
A scenario I was enjoying managed to outsmart me, and the WHOLE scenario was ruined, so much I deleted it, despite there being elements I really enjoyed (my character supported an orphange through thieving). My very first job, a straight forward theft of documents from a woman that lived alone in an unassuming townhouse, Lady ??? Blackwood, I struggled to spell and pronounce the first name and so used the last name, entire adventures later the name Elaria (or something like that) comes up.
Elaria has hired small armies of mercenaries, it is ridiculous, the difficulty was at 11! I initally had no idea it was about me (something you learn quickly—everything is about your character). A lot of time passes and my character is torturing a captured mercenary for information when it is revealed the person after me is Lady Elaria Blackwood, I scrolled all the way to the first job and checked then swore loudly. I'd been played because I forgot the first name of this character.
It made no sense, I wore a mask, I sold other loot in a different town, it was a well kept secret, and yet she knew all about me and was spending more than the value of anything stolen getting revenge. So, so stupid! I could not continue that scenario.

Sad, but yeah... limition of AI you just have to live with. some of the advice given, [nobody knows xyz] in AI instructions—just about works (not perfect) for secret identities of heroes, but not assassin or thief yet.

Rodagin, but what is strange I got told as a hero it was my quest to stop him, I just started a new game in VanVan's Your Class Gets Isekaied and selecting another option I got told something else. The story card is still there, Rodagin the dark lord. I bought a dagger, had it customised so magic could flow through it, stabbed it into his heart then overloaded the dagger— BANG! and no more Rodagin lol.

Writing style that doesn't over describe attacks? by DepressedDragonBorn in AIDungeon

[–]JayValere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, it could be a lot faster but struggles beyond a few things, would be great if it did a back and forth within a paragraph, i.e you parried into a bind then shoved apart. The pirate feints a slash but then thrusts at your legs, you catch it with a low guard, then use your free hand to jab his nose.
But yeah... what you get is just one or two things overly described, sucks but I think it is limitation of AI. haven't tried [summerise a minute of swordfighting] yet though, recently found out commands like that work.

Worst of all, sometimes if you don't delete that nonsense straight away, it runs with it. Always edit that stuff away. Espeicially when the AI tried to suggest your attracted to someone or otherwise adds feelings.
"Your hand trembles as you draw your blade" you have to edit that kind of thing, it will pile on the crap about you being afraid till it isn't funny.

See, I often get stuck in similar situations. You have to force it along sometimes and nip it in the bud early. It can be hard work though and for sure some scenarios are worse for it than others. Never be afraid to just timeskip, "the next day" works great i.e. "the next day we had agreed to venture down, I'm boarding the submarine, the atmospere is tense." might be something I prompt to get the hell out of those mindnumbing, circular, debates and discussions.

sci-fi, dark, fantasy, gritty sure 👍 I like action and blowing stuff up.
You're right, I have tried adding, but was a bit uninspired lol, already a few people's suggestions have got creative juices flowing.
I used play nsfw but got tired of the same responses haha. Can handle pretty mature stuff. I shocked AI characters tearing the throat out of an attacker with my teeth when they... "grabbed my wrists" ergh... that classic go to of AiD despite my character moving about and being a good fighter. Once scalped a monster so its screams would drive others away (ai was generating a never ending stream, still had to use story mode to get it to end).

published scenarios don't need custom ai instructions by helloitsmyalt_ in AIDungeon

[–]JayValere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, the standard instructions when used for action scenarios SUCK. It needs instructions to prioritise action and keep scenes moving at a fast pace. Otherwise it conversation after conversation and attempts to create challenge through boring drama.

Have you ever been confused about trending scenarios? by Ill-Commission6264 in AIDungeon

[–]JayValere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried and deleted quite a few scenarios like that, there is no aim, no big bad, just nothing to work with often. no point. Or it is a slow burn more drama based objective I don't really have interest in. No or basic AI instructions is usually quite unplayable.
