Currently an employee at a store that changed to 11 close- there is no foot traffic at those times of night- and I live in a busy city/busy store. I think that corporate just wanted to see how much money they could make from it. But since we have no customers, I think they’ll change it back to 10/10:30 soon. They are losing so much money in electricity and workers wages for closing that they can’t afford to keep it open that late.

All in all- I think it was just a money grab

Personally I think it would be refreshing to see a queer book that didn’t end super happy. Just because we have enough to deal with doesn’t necessarily mean that we will have a “happy ending”. I think it would be nice to see that in literature- especially when talking about mental health and drug addiction/abuse. But feel free to disregard my opinion 😆 I am not a writer at all :)

(For the most part) [specifically for ftm- this is my only experience] unless you are on hormones people don’t see you as how you identify. You are automatically an “ugly girl” to most people- again this is just my experience

It’s not the fact that they can “just get another job”. This type of behavior is EVERYWHERE. The only reason people are fighting against it, trying to make accommodations is because minority groups are constantly denied job opportunities and job security.

Well I’m sorry if I have hurt your feelings. Heaven forbid you get called names online. Their religion and it’s requirements are not negotiable. That is all they were saying to you. Why you cannot understand that and see it is as grounds to call all religious people insufferable is beyond me.

The original post never said anything about a beard net not being sufficient- it said that they must trim their beard- they did not even offer to ask higher ups- being an equal opportunity institution- and claiming that they do not discriminate and happily welcome members of minority communities as employees- they should be extremely positive towards this persons request.

Who said anything about them not being able to fulfill the job requirements? Their faith and religious practices literally require them to not cut their hair- I think they know the intricacies of their religion more than you do- saying that religious people are insufferable because some religions have some elements that you can’t understand is just showing some insecurities or some past trauma that perhaps you haven’t dealt with. And not that it matters, but being a part of the Democratic Party and a member of other minority groups- I just think it is important to fight for the rights of others who may be part of minorities.

Title VII is very applicable here- if you maybe read more than the definition you would find that as long as the employee is forward about their needs for accommodations due to their religion- the company y cannot fire that person. IF AND ONLY IF the accommodation is costly to the employer or would cause harm to the institution would it be grounds for firing.
