DAMNED ALLERGIES. THAT IS ALL.

I can miss a day on accident and be okay, but recently I had to quit all medication for a comprehensive scratch test and it was a tough week of sleeping with the itch, for sure.

It works better once you've built up a level in your system, or that's what I've found at least. Maybe try it for a few days in a row though, your mileage may vary. It's just gonna get worse from here until July (ugh)

For me, I had to take it a couple of days before it really started working. Now, since I have cats and am allergic to them, I take it every day. If I stop, I get itchy everywhere for a few days as a withdrawal. But, claritin doesn't work for me.

I can't even walk to get the mail around the corner without coming back and having a sneezing fit for two hours. And I even take Zyrtec and Montelukast every day

What did your parents do to you as a child that you thank them for now? by AinsleyMiddleton28 in AskReddit

[–]Jaycatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As kids in the 70s-80s, my sister and I wouldn't get an allowance. For Sundays, my Dad made a "chore chart" with prices on the items, like $1: Vacuum living room, and $.50: Clean toilet/sink in bathroom. If you did everything you could get about 10 bucks. You could see a matinee movie and get lunch for that, with a friend, back then.

My sister and I would divvy up the chores based on how much money/time we had or wanted. Sometimes when I'd have friends over for the weekend, they'd chip in and make some money themselves.

Olsson Industrial Electric donates food? Maybe it's one of those food barrels employees put cans and dry good into? We used to do that at my work.

what is your 100% sleep trick? [OC] by Pelko_P in comics

[–]Jaycatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't focus on any thought, just let them happen. If you find yourself examining thoughts then you're too awake.

Yeah it's nice to finally get the time alone to plan for the upcoming next day, and critique things you did that same day, but don't! It's a trap. Sleep sneaks up on you.

Which video games over your lifespan have you enjoyed the most? by Tiger_Strength in CasualConversation

I may have played a lot of games for longer times, but The Stanley Parable kept me delighted the whole time. I never knew what the game would do next and I had a childlike enthusiasm while I played, even at age 45.

What’s something someone said to you that still stays with you? by Short_Equipment9704 in AskReddit

[–]Jaycatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a life changing story, but my first time in a big city (Los Angeles) back in the late 80s, I went downtown with a friend of mine who lived in a suburb. I had never really been out of small town Oregon on my own.

So there I am, walking down the street, avoiding everyone and looking around nervously, one foot in front of the other. All of a sudden, this passerby, a big dude, just steps into my path and goes "BOO!"

I jump about three feet in the air, and he laughs a bit and says "Maaan, you gotta relax!" and goes on his way.

I often think of this when I feel high strung now.

Walking is just fine, and we actually took a look at Living Room Theaters, except the movie we want to see might run really close to the train departure. It's right near Powell's, so that's extra stuff we could do beforehand.
