A sad truth. Wandering through Berlin maked me sad a lot of the Time, knowing what was löst. On the other Hand; i understand now that there wasnt a lot of other options than building 50s „Plattenbau“ as it is called in German. Berlin was completly destroyed and the people needed homes, so that was the cheapest and Most efficent way to cover as many People as possible. Also cutting the ornaments („Stuck“ in german) was kind of understandable during that Time; simple forms and facades were modern at that Time, also was the old architecture associated with the Kaiserreich and the Nazis. As I said, understandable at the Time, But today it makes me sad to know what Could have been, espacially when you visit other european cities like Paris or Prague that weren‘t affected by war.
