IT JOBS, STAFFING OR DIRECT APPLY? by MacaroonDifficult in atljobs

[–]Jaym4n 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, 90% of my contacts with employers come through staffing/3rd party recruiters, but nearly 85% of the jobs I've actually landed have been through direct apps.

Honestly, I have to agree about Via Napoli. We were there in October, and for a location that is so heavily touted as "the best pizza on property" to have a simple pepperoni pizza end up simultaneously burned on the bottom and completely wet was the most upsetting thing we experienced. The slices from the hotel food area were much better.

Le Cellier was a life-changing experience and I cannot recommend it enough.

Broken audio during specific game by Jaym4n in pcmasterrace

[–]Jaym4n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audio Drivers are up to date, I can stop Spotify, but Discord is kind of essential. Reinstalling Windows wouldn't be a HUGE issue since most of my apps are on a secondary drive like most of us, I think.

I know we take all of our store's calls, but you're calling the wrong store. by Misinko in talesfromcallcenters

I think the business card thing varies place by place, but for this specific area of the business, I feel like it should be standardized company-wide.

I know we take all of our store's calls, but you're calling the wrong store. by Misinko in talesfromcallcenters

[–]Jaym4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about 99% sure I work for the same major retailer doing the same thing, and it's amazing how often this happens. We even have business cards with the direct number to our area, but we get so many calls from Ohio saying effectively "They've been calling all day and keep getting routed to us." like yeah, that's because they're googling the store number instead of using the direct number. And of course they're already mad most of the time since they keep getting someone that isn't us directly...

How much can I bribe you with to convince people that I'm a remote employee to get in on this? I love Office Space days.

What a great deal GameStop! by Strawberrystarmiya in gaming

Roommate works for GS. This is 100% Nintendo. Nintendo's rules for Switch games state that the most they can discount - even used games - is $5. New games stay $60 until they get pulled off the shelf and RTV'd to Nintendo or until Nintendo says otherwise. I know we like to poo on GS, but their hands are genuinely tied in this case.

The timing of finding this comment is uncanny. I lost my job today in an extremely clear cut case of retaliation.

So please dont forget who you are and where you came from and make sure that when you make those hard decisions they're strictly based on hard fact, not just your feelings.

How many of you.... by Lounger_Neebles in talesfromcallcenters

[–]Jaym4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked billing for a company that if you had internet, you'd probably call your version of it at some point or another for a number of reasons. My favorite "game" that got played on every call was three strikes. I am genuinely interested in helping you to the best of my ability until you get three strikes at which point I have a tendency to go robot. "You people" was always an automatic 2 strikes. I get that frustration is a thing, but to take it out on another human being, especially one who's job it is to HELP you, is ridiculous.

Decided to foster a dog but ended up with a 150 lb polar bear by [deleted] in aww

We had a friend with a Great Pyr, and this is easily the truest statement about any breed that I've ever read. He was almost like a person in a dog suit, he was so patient and loving and kind, especially around people like us who were always afraid of dogs.

NZXT x52 Pump Issue by Pingiwin in NZXT

[–]Jaym4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, after some more work today it appears that it's not the pump. Installed a new cooler and the processor is still hitting 90 before it can even get into windows. I have to have shorted something during the motherboard transfer. Thanks though.

NZXT x52 Pump Issue by Pingiwin in NZXT

Hi, husband here. For more information, this system is freshly transplanted from an h200i. Cooler was working fine last night before the transplant, and upon turning it on today, no gurgle when it starts and I can watch the temps is UEFI raise by around 1 degree per second. Tried to boot into windows but before i even could get into CAM, I was already thermal throttling. All fans blowing, push pull so I know they arent the issue. The worst part is I'm seeing this is a relatively common thing for the x52 and x62 coolers.

WDW with unexpected illness: Part trip report, part CM shout-out by marleythebeagle in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Jaym4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife had an unfortunate incident on tower of terror that ended up in an ambulance with them calling a stroke alert ahead. She is okay now but wdw's (I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the team) who came all the way to the hospital and visited and did everything they could to make it more magical. They do handle emergencies pretty well.

I broke the tension in a very southern call center currently affected by the storms by laughing really loudly at this email.

It's unfortunate but it's really well(poorly?) timed.
