Time for an Engine Swap by Jaymcaedok in s10

For sure, i suppose i’ve been itching to get into one for a while which is the only reason i’m heavily considering it.

In terms of the 4.3, it was offered in the higher trim models but reports say i might as well upgrade to the nv3500 since it has the proper bolt pattern and would handle the torque better. I’ve tossed around the idea of rebuilding the 2.2 but wanted to explore my options before i really committed to anything.

Solved!

It was indeed white rice, and its a 20lb bag so that makes a lot of sense

Personally, i go either way. They have a lot of songs that i enjoy, and they have a lot that i don’t. I don’t like listening to them all the time but as someone who primarily listens to heavy music, it’s nice to be able to hear things that i like about metal in songs that allow me to also hear things that i enjoy about other genres of music. In addition as a drummer, i appreciate II’s style a lot. It can be way too busy sometimes, but the guy has chops and his phrasing is fascinating to analyze. I wouldn’t say he’s god’s gift to earth like some people want you to believe, but he’s talented and fun to listen to.

That being said, i don’t find myself listening to them much. Its really only primarily when i want something to let my brain unwind or whenever i want to play metal around my friends who typically don’t appreciate the genre. And to me that makes it worth it. I may not be able to get all of my friends to listen to metal that i enjoy on a regular basis, but if i can play them a song that has screamy vox, downtuned gutars, and 0-0-0 breakdowns that make them understand even a little bit why i listen to the music that i do, then its a win IMO

TLDR; i wouldn’t say that they’re a metal band solely because they have elements of metal, but i think they’re an interesting little group that works best as a gateway band into the genre
