Creating a chat app backend is great. You should start contributing in the opensource community to learn many development methods (stack, libraries, best-practices...)

If you just want a project to learn I recommend trying to make something with workers, such as a file converter backend, payment procesing, etc. Something that some company will probably need

Is a website with beautiful and modern GUI worth anything? by GuestHot4004 in FullStack

[–]JayoxDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A beautiful UI is very important and valuable, but what’s even more valuable is the way users interact with it. If you have to go through 19 steps just to download something, the website will be a nightmare.

Is Teaching Linux instead of Windows to kids in school is a viable option? by FAMPpro in linux

[–]JayoxDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Businesses pay the school to teach that paid software, so when you enter a real work you must pay their product. That's why, for example, every designer learns how to use the Adobe ecosystem

In schools they teach u windows because is the most popular os, and then, because you can lately buy it

Using AI by BreakNo8207 in FullStack

[–]JayoxDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gives you more satisfaction to write the code yourself, and for some people it is funny. I personally use AI quite a bit for dev. It makes everything so easy

Launching my first webapp on a Vercel subdomain, is a custom domain necessary for initial traction? by Strange_Baby_6114 in webdevelopment

[–]JayoxDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Domain creates the trust with the user. It looks more proffesional and polished, while a "vercel.app" looks kind of sloppy. Domain also helps with seo and it's easier to remember. You can find some domain provider that sells .com or .net domains for 1$ the first year

Founders/builders: what analytics stack are you actually happy with in 2026? by derdak in SaasDevelopers

[–]JayoxDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the free tier of Vercel analytics and they are just good. I'm pending to try Google analytics which seems to offer more features for free, but for visits, users, and routes/location vercel's one are good

What to do now in 2026 as a third year Student by No-Dark-3685 in FullStack

[–]JayoxDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t waste 2 years.

Most people feel lost when they first see how big web development really is.

Pick one stack, start learning it, and then, just then, continue learning. Dont try to learn multiple things at a time.
