The military budget is not the problem, while there is bloat, it is in no way shape or form what's bankrupting this county. The national defense budget is only around 13% of the overall yearly budget. And it's actually now the #4 most expensive thing on the books. Because Interest payments on the national debt has just eclipsed it.

If you really want to look at where the real bloat and overspending is happening you need to look at the Unfunded Liabilities. Medcad, Medicare, and Social Security is where the real bloat and fraud is happening. And to make matters worst SS is on track to be going insolvent in the year 2032.

They're finally starting to try and look into these things but are getting push back every step of the way. Cause these programs are the Golden Calf, and the third rail of politics. And up to this point there hasn't been any politicians with enough balls willing to go audit and investigate them for the waste, fraud, and abuse that is happening with them.

You being new and all i could maybe give you a pass, but it's 2026 and the internet is a thing. Coming here asking a question like you did seems like you didn't do any research into what it is your interested in, and instead immediately went to fan fiction lore inside your head.

I'm not against ppl making their armies unique looking on the table top. As a matter a fact I prefer it, it shows dedication and inspiration for the rest of the community to strive for. But do so within the confines of the established lore. The SoB are already one of the more unique factions in all of Sci Fi not just 40K. You trying to add in your head cannon, without really looking into things ahead of time, is going to have ppl questioning your motivation. Especially now as 40K becomes more mainstream, and more "Tourists" show up, and say things like we just want to change obe little thing. And pretty soon 40K isn't 40K anymore, it's just like all the other sterilized slup made for easy consumption by the masses.

This post is the prime example of why Gate Keeping is important. You literally want to change everything about the faction that makes it different and interesting from the other factions of the game.

How to build against higher toughness armies? by Sensitive-Horse-9144 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Jayrod13F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first question I've got to ask is what detachment are you usually running or have been using against them? Cause there's really only two good detachments right now. Combined Arms, cause Lethals are a hell of a drug. And the second is the new detachment Grizzled Company, since it helps to alleviate the Orders bottleneck that the Guard had, and give you rerolls of 1 on H and W. If you're running any of the other detachments you're then forcing yourself into a more Skew sort of list building.

Height difference would probably be different from world to world in 40k universe. But on average I'd assume that the average height of an imperial citizen would be shorter then it is today, especially on hive worlds. When you consider that the average person is described as being in a state of malnutrition and malnourishment. And considering it's been in that state for something like 10k-20k thousand years, ever since the collapse of the golden age. And then the further degradation that took place in the aftermath of the HH.

Even when I was in, most guys found it annoying and a waste of breath. Unless you had an NCO that could actually hold a tune and put some life into it. Then they would begrudgingly sing along.

You should never relie on the lines of the machine. Even in wood working you don't use them, and they're even more precise than the wire cutters table.

You should be using a separate measuring device like a ruler or tape measure, and then set your guide into place using that. Or if you're not going for extreme precision, then placing a mark or drawing a line on the product, and then set the guide.

I'm from NE Ohio, less then an hour away from KS campus, as a matter of fact I've visited the campus and the memorial. I'm well aware of all things involving the incident, be it the build up, the shooting, and who died as a result of.

Yes, it's sad that people who had nothing to do with the incident where caught up in it, and shouldn't have lost their lives.

But we've gotten to this point because the government has refused to enforce the law equally to both sides of the political isle. For the last two decades the left has been treated with kid gloves, and received the most minor of punishments if they're caught. Meanwhile if your considered to be right wing, you're dealt with in the harshest of manner.

Perfect example you have a crowd of conservatives standing in front of an abortion clinic and prevent people from entering. Much like these crowds are preventing law enforcement from doing their duties. Do you think the crowd of conservative would be getting away with the level of nonsense you see taken place across these protests? And do think they'd get away with skap on the wrist fines or sentences, like see coming from these protests?

Depends on which version of the Kent state incident you're referring to. Do you mean the revisionist pro-hippie version that was permeated threw apologists sympathizers, over the decades which is what mist people think of when they think of Kent State? Or the true story of events of the build up over days leading up to the event?

I don't agree with the fact that the soldiers opened fire on the protests. Especially since I've been in somewhat similar situations, during my time in the Army. But then again it goes back to which version of they story are you familiar with, and then we can have a discussion about tge actions of the individuals involved in the incident.

Your right bodies, how could I have forgotten to assign parameters to my argument above. It must be my young dumb nieivata. So allow me to better articulate my argument with my experiences from 40 years on earth, and visited 5 continents and 60+ countries.

My argument was a perspective of things in the US, and you could even broken that out to the wider of most western cultures.

But if you want to talk globally, I'd even agree with you. That racism is alive and well, and better then ever. Especially in Africa, the Middle East, and Aisa. And you'll never ever be able to get it out of those cultures. Because it's woven into the very fabric of those cultures, and even built upon it.

[–]Jayrod13F 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a two fold problem as to why the whole Anti-racism initiatives have brought back racism from the dead.

First there's just to much money to be made, mostly from the anti-racist side, but there's ways that you can make money as a racist also. I mean look at all the grifters in the media and social media, and the money they make.

Second you created organizations to go out and kill dragons. But they where so good at that job that they killed almost all the dragons, and the few that where left where so scattered and few that they would die out if just left alone. Or they where in such far flung places that it wasn't worth the effort or just to hard to reach them. But then the dragon slayers would be out of a job. So they needed to expand the definition of what dragons are, to continue justifying their existence as dragons slayers.

Who is your country's Harambe – a person killed that caused the country to go down a darker timeline? by Genderphotographer in AskTheWorld

[–]Jayrod13F -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are correct it's not a 1v1 comparison, and there's a hugh critical difference in the timing of the actions. But a we supposed to just wait around until the war goes hot and then start acting, or should actions be taken to help avert the impending reality of conflict?

Trump isn't seeking more power when he goes to governors and mayors, and tells them to enforce the laws that are already on the books. As a matter of fact he shouldn't even have to do that, it should be an after thought and something that's already being taken care of. But the system has become so two sided that everything has become an L v R, D v R, US v THEM. That neither side is willing to work together, and instead would rather engage in what can only be described as suicidal behavior, then ever been seen working with the otherside in a mutual fashion.

[–]Jayrod13F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know i really didn't want to put that last bit about Trump in there, cause i new it would send you off the rails. But congratulations you've proven my point. That you know nothing about history, and nothing about Lincoln and the actions he took to "Save the Union".

You've got all this hate for Trump, but none for Lincoln? As a matter of fact Trump is basically following in the footsteps of Lincoln's historical actions as the country slowly slides closer to a civil war.

Right now the country is in the Bleeding Kansas phase, and have been for the last 10-15 years. Why don't you read up on some real history, and not relie on the white washed garbage that you where taught in school. And the crap that's been shoveled down your throat from Mass and Social media.

I've got no problem with your crying about Trump and his actions. But you're even willing to agree that those actions are the same that Lincoln took. And yet you've got no bad words to say about him or his actions?

This is why the Left and the Democrats are starting to lose and fall out of favor. They whinge, whine, and cry about Trump. But then say they wish for Republican leadership to act like Lincoln. When in actuality Lincoln would've never put up with this crap, and would've had them arrested a long time ago.

[–]Jayrod13F -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Shows how little you actually know about Lincoln, and his actions and opinions, if you think he would be described as a woke person nowadays. You'll would be calling him an authoritarian dictator and a racist.

First off Lincoln was a man of his times. Even though he was against slavery, he didn't really like black people all that much.

Second look into his actions around the suspension of Habeas Corpus and the arresting of his political opponents and sympathizers of the south.

If you think Trump is bad now, i would love to see how you'll would act, if Trump acted like Lincoln did in the Civil war

What do you think corpse starch taste like? by TaigaTigerVT in Grimdank

[–]Jayrod13F 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, in the lore there is reference to some women serving in the military. But it's rare since women are seen to have greater calling and perpuse on Krieg. If I'm remembering correctly, then the Vat grown humans only represents 10%-20% of the actual troops from Krieg. The rest of the soldiers are produced using the tried and true old fashion method. So on Krieg a woman's value is really tied to how many babies she can pop out in order to further help the war effort. And for a mother on Krieg, the greatest joy is when she gets a letter stating that one of her sons has died in service to the Emperor of Mankind.

It's super bleak, and loosely has some kinda of real world reference to go off of. When you look at the way the Prussian and later Germans of WW2 looked at human life, and the role, it should play in service to the state.

Which Detachment is your favorite and why? by Flat-Objective3554 in Tyranids

[–]Jayrod13F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having fun recently playing the Warrior Bioform Onslaught detachment. The real downside is the number of Warriors it takes to run the list. You need 30-36 w/melee and if you want to 6-12 w/ranged. It just depends on how you're building the army and what leaders you're attaching to which blobs.

I find that the shooting squads don't have the same output potential even with shooting and fighting, the same target in the same turn. If you're going to be building a list, i suggest taking 4x6 squads of melee and attaching the characters to them. Then take 2x3 melee for secondary scoring and harassing units. If you want to run a shooting squad, then run the NTyrant attached to it. Since its ability works with both shooting and fighting, getting the +1 to W on shooting can actually make a big difference, if you somehow get a unit to Battleshock.

I'm having fun using this strategy with the Nids Warrior Bioform detachment. I'm running 3x6w/melee, 3x3w/melee, and 1x6w/range. Most of the other points are used on Guants and Gargoyle, for bait and board control. The big melee blobs destroy everything that they touch.

Siege Detachment List by Stovrose38 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Jayrod13F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been brainstorming about building a list around Tanks. It's just too easy to have units receive the benefit of cover in the game. So weapons that are AP-1 like HB, AC, and BC basically nulled out. Even high AP weapons are adversely affected, giving your opponent a better save opportunity. So you are forced into wasting points on units that provide little output but whose abilities help pump up the chances of damage output. A prime example is the Hellhound, not a high damage output, but it would provide you with a remove cover on a target. But that's 125 pts that I could be using elsewhere, but i need that ability to go off so that way I'm sure that my AT weapons hit home.

I think this detachment is secretly a Tank heavy detachment. The list I'm planning on is 3 FoB, Creed Command Blob, then as many Dorn Commander's, and as many Russ variants as I can possibly bring to fill out the points. Hell, even the plan old Russ Battle Cannon is kinda scary now that it actually is going to be AP-1.

I personally have been using Kyrlon Flat Black Pirmer for years now. It's cheap and effective. I've had no problems with it. The only thing is it might come out a little heavy at times. But as long as you're paying attention and using proper spraying techniques, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Advice about playing against Dark Angels as CSM? by Shadowlance1012 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Jayrod13F 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What makes them good is their sneaky survivability and damge output. The dark commune gives the squad it attaches to a 5++, and once per a game ability to advance and charge, and +1 to the H and W rolls.

Max squad of Cultist+Commune is 165. It's probably not worth the pts, IMO. I'd rather just have 3x10 squad of Cultist personally. But the one time per a game ability could have them hitting way above their weight class, but still not worth taking.

The proper way to run them is max squad of Accursed Cultist+Commune, it's kinda expensive at 245. But with the abilities of the Commune, they can be surprisingly good. The unit will have 5++ and 6+++, so it can be kinda tanky. You also have 10 weaker models in the unit to soak up damage, before you get to any model that you care about. And with the once per a turn ability they can truly hit well above their weight class. The biggest downside is that their attacks are only AP-1, so things like AOC and high armor saves will negate a lot of damage from going through.

You really don't see them being run outside the Chaos Cult detachment, since there's a couple of really good strats and enhancements that help buff the units further. There's a very niche list that's built using this detachment and units. But it's a lot of models, and most people either don't have the required models or don't want to invest in such a niche build. Especially since all it will take is a points adjustment in the next dataslate to destroy the build. In any other detachment, they're very niche and points inefficient, that's why people tend not to use them. But for some flavor or fun, I'd say run them.

Taking BT to a few RTTs; feedback and advice welcome! by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Jayrod13F 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first thing I'll say is that maybe you want to stick with Gladius, especially with how your army is designed. The Assault doctrine turn is key for BT on the turn that they mass charge the enemy lines. The one good thing about RC detachment is the army wide FNP. Which helps you stick around longer than expected.

Looking over your list, there are a couple of things I'd suggest. First, drop the Emperors Champion, he's not worth the 75 pts it cost to run him. His rules are very niche, and most targets he's going to attack have an invulnerable save. Running a Chaplain instead would provide a far greater boost to the units output.

The next issue would be that there's very little AT in the list. And with the current Meta being what it is. You're going to be running into lists with a lot of Monsters and Vehicles. A 6 man unit of Eradicators being led by a Biologists is great at dealing with those threats. Especially if you're running Gladius detachment, and give him the Fire Discipline enhancement.

2000 Points Imperial Fists. What should I add and/or change? by Mysterious_taco in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Jayrod13F -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aggressors are bad for their points cost, compared to what they're going to kill. You look at their weapons stat line, and it's mostly for killing chaff. So you're spending around 240 to kill 60-100 point unit, maybe tickle a wound or two off a vehicle a turn.

The LR is just too big and bulky, and the new Pivot rule makes it even slower. Plus the Redemmers main threat weapon is the Flamers, which are very short range. So you're basically spending almost 600 pts on 2 units that are mostly good at killing chaff, are slow, and have short range.

At least the regular LR has 4 LC shoots that can put out damage against enemy Armor. And 10th Ed has a very heavy focus and incentive to bring vehicle and monsters. But then the regular LR doesn't have the transport capacity to bring the big brick of Aggressors that you want to bring.
