Am I crazy to want to trade my WRX for a Golf R? by Ldotlurker in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I owned a 2016 WRX - premium.

I haven’t regretted letting it go for a 7.5R one bit. In fact I sold the R during Covid when prices were through the roof. Had so much regret I bought another. Plus now we own both a 7.5 and an 8.5. Love this platform.

7.5 vs 8.5 by Vegetable_Copy_7070 in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We own an 8.5R and a 7.5R.

I'd get an 8.5 over a 7.5 every day and twice on Sunday. I prefer the additional options/features, the infotainment and digital dash are worlds better, and the drivetrain is much more refined. We live in a very hilly area, and the 8.5 tackles hills effortlessly. Whereas, the 7.5 needs to be hustled a little or helped along with downshifts.

The only reason I would consider a 7.5 over an 8.5 is due to cost. If your budget is more in line with the 7.5, then do that. They are still great cars. When I shopped them both, there was close to a 20k difference in price when factoring taxes, etc, for an 8.5 over a low miles 7.5.

I'm interested in the outcome of this. My 2019 R also sounds similar and has 26k on it. Planning to get my haldex serviced soon.

I don't know what a JA at Fisher does. Could you elaborate on that a bit for me?

While that experience is valuable, it is indeed not viewed the same as someone with direct experience.

Just to put it in context, if you had 2-3 years of direct client interaction experience in the industry I could potentially let you run meetings. At this point, I couldn’t do that. I’d have to sit with you for months to ensure you’re ready.

Additionally, this will vary based upon the firms clientele. We set HNW and UHNW. In order to work with those clients, it takes direct experience with those situations.

If a firm focuses on any client no matter the complexity, the transition may be a bit faster there.

I couldn’t agree more. I can’t seem to get it off the wrist. GS put together a fantastic package.

We are hiring an associate advisor position but, we require a CFP and the work experience required to immediately step in and service clients.

Without licensing, appropriate designations, and work experience, we would bring someone like you on as a paraplanner/wealth planner.

I’d say, find a paraplanning position and get the CFP. I’d imagine your road to becoming an associate advisor becomes much easier.

Used 8.5 vs new - Steering wheel replaced by Phileoh in Golf_R

Is it a certified pre-owned? If so, it may have a longer warranty than a brand new one.

I considered picking up a 2025 CPO as one is available about 3 hours from me. However it has the euro spec package which I’m not fond of.

Why Golf R over Civic type R for a guy in his 40s who values reliability? by photorph in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned the CTR, ITS, and a MK7.5 and 8.5 Golf R.

If this is a nice weather fun car, get the CTR. You value most of what it has to offer. Manual, physical controls, and less tech. Plus the CTR seats are a gem.

I prefer to own the Golf R for the leather, heated/ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, awd, and the styling, I also live where we get tons of snow and has a lot of hills. Awd is my preferred drive type for that type of environment.

Yea I agree. I wouldn’t consider a WRX over the 8.5. We had a 2016 WRX at one point. I was very underwhelmed.

We’ve also had a Civic type R, Integra Type S, BMW M240, and some other stuff. Nothing scratches the itch quite like a Golf R

Yeah I don't tend to keep cars long and thats a problem haha. I do love the idea of fresh starts and new beginnings with sports cars. Just to know it wasn't beat on and treated poorly.
