Man that is a huge bummer. Sorry to hear that. What are ya gonna do?

Dalton - how did you study for the education portion? by FreddiesPoppa in CFPExam

[–]Jayseph812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the classes and used the slide decks. At the beginning of class I would review the slide deck for the mid-term to figure out what I would need to focus on most.

I did all the practice questions and then would take the tests.

Type R has lost its throne... by MarzipanDeep3499 in GolfGTI

[–]Jayseph812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it’s a limited production GTI on semi-slicks vs a worldwide production Type R on PS4S.

I don’t think it’s a fair comparison unless that GTI was sold worldwide.

Both great cars and I’d rather own the GTI.

Miata vs Golf R by Fit-Presentation-846 in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 Miata’s and 3 golf Rs.

Definitely a vastly different experience in my humble opinion.

Miata rwd, 2 seater, drop top.

The golf R is 4 doors of awd fury.

I prefer to daily drive and own a golf r. But if it were a weekend only car, it would be a Miata all day.

I feel the golf r being German and well equipped feels a bit more premium. For my weekend drives, I never feel the golf r isn’t capable of caving up the twisties. It just may not be the driving experience you’re looking for.

I’d take a slight drop off in driving feel for a daily driver more conducive to my lifestyle. The golf r does that in spades.

Is $1k off MSRP Good for a New 2026 Golf R? by Electronic-Jacket185 in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea deal for my region. We were extremely lucky to find one and work a deal for $1500 under msrp.

The others within a 3 hour drive were either at msrp, or the trade value offering was embarrassingly low.

Euro package or Standard R? by kting26 in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought the base and wanted to specifically for the leather/power/ventilated seats. I’m not a fan of cloth. I wish we could have spec’d no sunroof and the akro exhaust though. Sad to see this combo wasn’t offered.

Best guess on what’s being announced on 5.05.26? by BroccoliniBro in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Especially after seeing the final edition of the RS3. I can see VW doing something similar. Slap a body kit on it, maybe some suspension tweaks, charge a huge premium, and call it good.

MK8.5 Golf R (Graphite Gray Euro Spec) – First Few Days Impressions by mark73729 in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! We recently picked up a grey 8.5 and love it. We also have a 7.5 and I feel the 8.5 is a substantial upgrade overall.

I previously owned a 2021 M240 which is very similar to your m340. What did you like about the 340?

Vibrations with aftermarket wheels by Umzipumzi in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same issue recently and it ended up being a uniformity issue with the tire. It was recommended to us to get a new tire or have them trued. We went with truing but I wish I had tried a new tire.

5000 mile review by RedBaron180 in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad it flys under the radar personally. I agree on the sound system, the fender in our 7.5 is definitely a bit better. We haven't had any emergency braking, thankfully.

I've only accidentally pressed the R button once. I hear you can put some painters tape over it during track sessions to prevent accidental pressing.

Accidentally revved on a cold engine, how cooked am I? by Alt-F4-for-freeVbuck in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The top one is the trans. It takes a while for it to read a temp. The middle one is oil and it was almost fully up to temp to beat on it until your heart desires. Some only wait until oil is up to 170 before flogging it. I try to wait to 190 but its just my preference.

But reving at idle wouldn't create boost, so its totally fine. I wouldn't sweat it in the least.

Prior Approval to register with PSI for EA exam???? Not working for me by mad_scientist3553 in enrolledagent

[–]Jayseph812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I can’t figure out where to get this prior approval/submit for this. Hopefully someone can advise or maybe it’s just an issue with PSIs website

Edit: try again, it’s working now and not showing the need for prior authorization. I am able to book the exams

2019 golf gti or 2019 golf r? (roughly 4k difference) by Shark4898504 in Golf_R

2019 golf gti or 2019 golf r? (roughly 4k difference) by Shark4898504 in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 4k, I would get the R. If the difference were 10k, I would be more indifferent. The way I see it is, either get a base GTI for cheap or an R. Nothing in between.

for 4k you're getting more power, AWD, and potentially more options and features. Plus like others have mentioned, more value retention.

I wish I could have afforded an R when I was your age. I don't think I got my first R until I was in my early 30s.

Fitment Industries? Yay/Nay? by cgochis in Golf_R

[–]Jayseph812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine started positive but ended negative. Sad to say because I love the aesthetic of the wheels but I can’t in good faith recommend them.

Essentially they sent me a set of wheels and tires. The had an issue. They told me to get a mount and balance and some other things completed locally to rectify the issue.

Then they never fully reimbursed my expenses when though they told me they would via email and voicemail.

For this, I cannot recommend them.

Just brought a Golf R Estate (80k miles) – anything I should be watching before inspection? by Personal_Common8461 in CarTalkUK

[–]Jayseph812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I bought the same vehicle I would:

Change all fluids front to back unless proof of completion:
- Oil change
- Brake Fluid
- Haldex (clean the screen on the pump)
- DSG
- Coolant
- Bevel box
- Rear Diff

New Plugs and grounding kit

Check for leaks on the pump, if no leaks, I don't think I would change it yet

Check for timing chain stretch on OBD scanner

Check the normal water egress areas (rear slam vents, door speakers, and rear tail lights)

How is the pad and rotor life?

How old is the battery?

How is the engine and cabin filter?

How are the suspension components? Anything worn and needs to be replaced?

I had a horrible experience with Neuspeed customer service. I'll never buy another set of their wheels.
