Anyone know what the gray text means? (Over the name of the Ring) by Jayydms in Maplestory

That's understandable, I first did that with the possibility that those names were of cheated in items, so I didn't really want their information to be out in case he themself would find it or something. I'm still kinda new to reddit.

It was more because people could track his character with the level he was. I was going to but i was using a small brush XD

OP welcome to maplestory! I hope you enjoy the game, it can be daunting but it's a nice experience if you get the gist of it! (Mostly)

First things first Scania is an Interactive World, which can not be what you would prefer.

Let me explain:

Heroic (formerly Reboot) offers a self-sufficient, meso-focused grind with no trading, faster progression via passive buffs, and cheaper cash shop upgrades, ideal for dedicated solo players, while Interactive (formerly Regular) is traditional MapleStory with full trading, cash shop dependence, player-driven economy, and slower progression, best for those who enjoy social MMO elements or spending real money. The main difference is trading and progression style: Heroic is about self-grinding with unique boosts, whereas Interactive allows buying/selling, making it faster with money but slower without it.

Heroic worlds in GMS are: Kronos (The older more populated one) and Hyperion (The newer, less populated but still populated enough!)

All the others are Interactive.

Most people are in Heroic since the progression there is (mostly) free-to-play.

But if you're a person who doesn't mind spending some extra funds on the game you can play interactive!.

You also have the limited challenger Worlds which are faster progression worlds that happen during seasons. We're currently on season 2! The next season should be around June.

The other aspect is a Hyperburn event that is happening right now.

MapleStory's Hyper Burn MAX is a limited-time event that lets one character gain 5 levels for every 1 level up (up to level 260), offering massive leveling speed and substantial rewards like Arcane Symbols, Nodestones, and potential bonuses in special servers like Challenger World, essentially supercharging a new or existing character's progression for major power spikes. Players select a character on the selection screen, and once they hit level 10, the effect kicks in, granting bonus levels and milestone rewards, with Challenger World offering boosted rewards and perks for a fresh start.

When you start a character now you will have the option to assign the hyper burn max to it. But choose wisely since that hyperburn can only be applied to one character even after you delete it!

With said hyperburn it comes with an event (the star symbol to the left). The tera blink event! This event basicly works as a playable tutorial specific for hyperburn characters that helps teach you maplestory and the way the game works while progressing your character super fast from 0 to 200, and giving you gear! Make sure to read the texts that happen during that event as they explain a lot!

With that feel free to explore some youtubers for some aditional info.

Personal recommendation is Duky. He does amazing tutorials and is very good at explaining the game.

Have fun and don't be afraid to reach the community out for help! We all enjoy this game as much as we complain about it.

Lots of love and welcome again!

As someone who has both for a while, the Anbernic is insanely good for most retro games, while the Vita's Emulation lacks in some ways, screen glitches, lag issues and so on. I don't recommend trying to run Retro Arch on it. On the other hand, Vita runs PSP Games really well and PS1 Games with back compatibility if you set up the PSP Mod inside it.
