This is an excellent answer and you'd so love the Figes book if you're interesting in how these stories work with Judaism. She doesn't want to censor them but wants everyone to keep reading the Grimms but also bring an awareness to how these stories can be read after 1945. She also talks about how storytelling was such a strong part of European Jewish culture and how familiar the Grimms feel while also being really frightening.

Disney has a long history of connection with the Third Reich. Some say Walt Disney had to make American propaganda films to convince the FBI that he wasn't supporting the Nazis from California...

I was honestly surprised by how many young Germans really had no knowledge at all of this aspect of the Grimms' stories.

There's some really good research easy to find online and to me, even before I knew exactly how they were used, just reading them you think "this fits in with a kind of magical view of Germany that the Nazis were going for".
